Ex, did you get to see Morrisssey? I read online that he is in the hospital and has had to cancel a few shows. Yeah, we caught him before that. Phenomenal show! It was the most "interactive" show I've ever been to, to say the least. He would keep leaning over the stage to shake hands, accept gifts from fans, even pass the mic around through the audience. And, of course, no show would be complete without a handful of fans running onto the stage to try to hug him (including one little kid who literally jumped on his back piggyback style). Seriously insane and awesome!

Since my last post on this thread all I've seen was MY FAVORITE BAND EVER!!!!
When I played we often covered songs by the Canadian Death Metal band Kataklysm and I finally got to see them live. It was the most awesome concert ever, small venue...Maurizo was pulling people up on stage with him (I was on stage with him!!) and encouraging crowd surfing (Which I did) and the whole floor in front of the stage was a mosh pit (Almost got knocked out by an elbow to the eye)
All in all it was a kick ass night!

Saw the Tragically Hip again Friday night (7th time). Excellent show. Gord was on fire. The Arkells opened for them and were pretty impressive.

Newly revised list (with show report):
Spirit of the West (X2) Pursuit of Happiness 54-40 Hu Noo Barney Bental and the Legendary Hearts Odds Tragically Hip (7 times) Tea Party Econoline Crush They Might Be Giants (X2) The Catherine Wheel George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars The White Stripes Leonard Cohen Summersault Festival (Sum41/Perfect Circle/Catherine Wheel/Foo Fighters/Our Lady Peace/Smashing Pumpkins) U2 (with Arcade Fire) Hewey Lewis and the News Gord Downie The Pixies Sloan The Arkells Arcade Fire Skydiggers
Had an incredibly uplifting experience at the Spirit of the West show tonight. I was unsure what to expect as lead signer John Mann is battling early onset Alzheimers, and this is really their last tour before he gets to the stage where he can't carry on. As they were setting up the stage, including his tablet loaded with lyrics, I somehow felt this would turn into one long dirge. I couldn't have been more wrong. As the lights went down they pumped "Uptown Funk" over the speakers and John ran out into the crowd and started dancing with everyone, then made his way to the stage and did a fun James Brown bit, showing off his "Fuck Alzheimers in the Arse" shirt. He then lit into the first song and the place came unglued.
All night he was so animated and joyful, jumping around, and dancing like a madman. It was a inspiring to see him up there as a force of will. So what if Geoffrey carried most of the mic work between songs? And so fucking what if John missed a few lines here and there? His passion was infectious, and it was truly a joy to see him doing what he loved with his friends on stage for one of the last times and really giving it his all.
After the show he came to the front of the stage and hugged me and a few others in the front row and thanked us profusely for coming. What a great night for him, Spirit of the West and for the fans.
