A memorial thread for those things from your childhood that you're not gonna find in the store now.

Sara Lee brownies. The foil tray in the freezer section. You'd just pull the cardboard top off and go to town. I think there was supposed to be some thawing. Forget that.

Most of the stuff I can think of is stuff I liked as a kid, but would probably find quite vile now:

Koogle "Peanut Spread". It was flavoured (chocolate, vanilla, etc.) peanut butter, with so much other stuff in it, they couldn't call it "peanut butter".

LibbyLand frozen dinners: TV dinners for young children with a cowboy theme.

Cool n' Creamy (I think): It was chocolate pudding in a tub like Cool Whip.

Danish-Go-Rounds: Like Pop-Tarts, only oval.

SWANSON's Chicken and Dumplings frozen dinner.

Those Microwave Milkshakes. Those Microwave French Fries.

Doo Dads.

Good-N-Fruity's.

Pepperoni chedder cheese (I used to get it in the Kroger's deli section. Chedder cheese with specks of pepperoni mixed in. Yum!).

Chelsea, a "not so soft drink" called by Anheuser-Busch that reportedly contained 1/2 of 1% of alcohol. It was only on the market from 1978 to 1980 and only available in a few Eastern states. I was living in MA in '79 and this was my favorite drink.

Flavour Straws - regular paper drinking straws infused with flavour crystals (either chocolat or strawberry) so that when you sipped ordinary milk through them, you got strawberry or chocolat milk.

Semi -- Superman crashing through a brick wall? and Batman swinging from a tree? I had them, too.

Tog'l blocks, sort of a cheap articluted knock off of Legos.

Real Lincoln Logs, not the crappy retro stuff you find a Target now.

El Caminos -- it's a car / it's a truck. The duality really appealed to me.

Ice cold Coca-Cola in a glass bottle that you nearly lost a finger trying to pull out of vending machine.

I wish I still had my aurora models. There were all painted and looked great. Yes, it was the Superman crashing through the brick wall and Batman winging from a tree. The Superboy model had Superboy in front of a cave containing a baby dragon.

Mine are probably still in the ceiling in the basement in our old house. I used to hide things there.

Every so often, these show up in the snack machines at work.

Mind you, they could be warehouse surplus.....

We have a candy store here in Houston called "Candylicious" which specialises in obscure confections. I know the owners and they say that many people walk in there and say "I didn't know they still made..."

Yeah. I remember they had regular and with raisins. May have been one with peanuts too. I remember they were really, really thick.

I really like the idea of a store dealing in obscure sweets.

I remember CHUNKY. Wasn't the slogan "Open Wide For Chunky." (I'm serious!)
