I missed the season opener on Sunday, so went to digital HBO On Demand to see it tonight after midnight (seems like they don't come on for 24 hours after original broadcast), and there was Episode 1.

And Episode 2!

So I just saw the July 3 episode five days before it hits the public. If you get HBO through digital cable and have the HBO On Demand channel, check to see if it's still up. Must be that someone put up both eps by mistake, and prob won't last long.

We get to see a flashback to Bill in 1982 as a punk rocker in what seems to be London. Another flashback shows how he got his current position. And perhaps most interesting of all are the implications of what the wiccans did with the bird in the first ep. Some important people are REEEEEEEEALLY not happy to hear about it.

And I only just found out that the song at the closing credits of each episode is the title for the ep. Unless that was just a coincidence of the the last two, or a new thing for this season.

*sigh* There was no 'orgy' going on! They are shifters. They were taking off their clothes because horses wouldn't be able to run in human slacks, jeans, boots, high-heels and the like. If you recall, Sam and his brother casually dropped trou together last season. Did you think they were about to have an 'orgy'?

Well, Sam's bro DID invite him to "party" AKA have sex with him and his little date last season... but yes, I understand that clothes must be removed for the shifters.

I somehow didn't catch that the 4 were the horses until a second viewing.

So sorry to have exasperated you, but I also don't think I am too far off base to think "sex" first where TRUE BLOOD is concerned. 80% of the whole show is sex-related. *SIGH*

Vampires and sex, isn't that like peanut butter and jelly, sax and violins, bullets and brainsplatter?

Going to have to forgive you after seeing the second episode. Seeing Sam and Tommy rolling on the ground naked sent my mind waundering elsewhere for a moment until the ick factor of them being brothers brought me back to what was actually going on in the show.

Just remember the actors aren't related and you can enjoy it again.

The head witch is cracking me up/creeping me out in a quiet unassuming way. Her line deliveries are pretty interesting. Is she British?

I want more Pam!

Aside from Eric, the rest of the show is now completely a divergent, barely parallel universe to the books. Which is a good thing.

Don't know for sure about the character, but the actress sure is British. The irony of the head witch being played by the same actress as Happy Potter's muggle aunt is delicious.

I went ahead and On-Demanded the 2nd ep last night;

The "witch" plot is heating up a bit, I'm liking it more than I thought I would.

Also, the "evil baby" plot heated up a little... I am curious as to wether this is for 'real'... or all in Arlene's mind. COULD the baby have burst her eye vessel, or was it pure stress? At any rate, that baby is ADORABLE.

So, Jason's going to be a shifter. I'll be fine if I never see Hot Shot again!

Eric with amnesia looks like it will be fun... and provide a way for Sookie to fall for him.

I think on this show were-creatures and shapeshifters are very different things.

Anybody know if this happened to Jason in the books?

Were-panther, shifter, whatever it is it looks like it's a bitch to be turned into one.

I was on the edge of my seat for all of episode two.

Highlights:

The flashback of Bill as a punk rocker in London in 1982.

Bill looking hotter than ever in his sex scene.

The flashback of the the death scene of the queen. Gross!

Pam with attitude.

The Sookie and Tara reunion.

The boy licking Jason's wound.

More Pam with attitude.

Tara going after Eric.

Eric wandering shirtless.

This is some fun and crazy stuff.

Also looks like a bitch to FILM being turned into one. I don't know if that was special effects or if trained panthers were nuzzling Jason's torso with a camera angle that just looked like biting, but I'd hate to count on training that much.

Good list of highlights Jer! Makes me appreciate the ep even more when I see that in writing.

I sure hope it was F/X... no WAY would I have done the scene otherwise no matter how much they were payin'....

1. Those born with 2 forms (full specific animal and full human)
2. Those 'infected' by a bite that can turn into a specific half animal half human form.
3. Those born able to turn into any animal form. Which I might note only happens to the first born of the true shape-shifters, there would be no true shifter siblings.</span></span>

Knowing that the were-panther business comes from the books makes it a little more understandable, since, unlike vaguely-wolf-like dogs, trained panthers aren't cheap to find and use for a TV production.

Domesticated ones tend to be smaller than you'd want, for something that's supposed to look scary or threatening on-screen.

Saw some behind-the-scenes stuff from last season, they said they used real wolves. Did they supplement with some dogs also?

I find memory-erased Eric to be so much hotter than regular-Eric. Kudos to his acting skills.

Marnie's going to be trouble... I am enjoying the witch plot a lot more than I thought I would.

And what's up with that creepy doll of Jess and Hoyt's?

That's because memory-erased Eric keeps forgetting to put his shirt on or hike his pants up. Dang...

Never did see the attraction of hip bones, myself.

A) skeletons are not sexy, eat a sammich!
B) uncomfortable at a time when you really want to be comfortable.

Sure bodies are fine and stuff, whatevs and all, but it's faces I like best... and I credit A-Skaar's acting, he has changed Eric's facial expressions perfectly into something hotter to me than what was there before (which was already pretty hot, mind you).

But boyswise, for me, it's a tossup between Tommy and Hoyt.

I think *all* of the girls are hot on the show... oh hell, everyone is really.

Wow... great episode tonight... I now officially like every plot, now that Jason is out of Hot Shot hopefully to never return. Yep, I'm even enjoying the evil baby plot! In fact, it's freaking me out now!!

Various reactions;

Jason staring up at Jessica has all sorts of foreshadowing. The boy falls in love (lust) faster than lightspeed!

Poor Hoyt. I wanted those crazy kids to make it work, but I don't think this Hoyt / Jessica thing is gonna work out.

I do not at all like that Tommy may have overheard that a shifter can learn to take on the form of another shifter by killing them, and knows that Sam has all kinds of money...

I don't like evil baby stories. I also miss Rene's cajun accent. I don't hear enough southern accents, up here in Cow Hampshire.

Good grief, Sam, Tommy, L.C. (or Alcide?), Brother-Husband Fenton, maybe Jason, soon. This show has far too many people who need to take their pants off to use their super-powers...
