Hell yeah we were! What other bands are you guys listening to these days that I might not have heard of?
The Killers' album is actually pretty kick-ass too (I wasn't sure if I'd like them). Music is so easy to get these days that for me to actually go out and buy an album, I really have to like the band and want to support them.
Flogging Molly's latest album seems good so far, but I haven't given it the full listen yet. It does have a song with Lucinda Williams (as I told Lash). I never heard her voice until I listened to that song--it's very unique and very pleasurable to my ears!
Anyone listen to The Dead 60's? I've heard two of their songs and liked what I heard...might check them out...

The Killers are great, even if they are from Utah. Modest Mouse is good too but I don't consider them or The Killers real rock. Audioslave, Velvet Revolver, Nine Inch Nails (new album is AWESOME!), Green Day (ditto their new album) and A Perfect Circle stay pretty much on rotation with me.

Yeah, the Killers and Modest Mouse aren't really rock, kinda like a psuedo-emo/punk type thing. I do like them both a lot though! I've heard a few Modest Mouse songs, but don't have the album. My little sister is seriously into these types of bands and lets me know when she thinks something is cool. Audioslave and Velvet Revolver kick serious ass. The line-ups of the bands sometimes overshadow how seriously talented those musicians really are. Haven't heard the new NIN album and didn't even know it was out, really! Something else else else to look forward too. I haven't listened to A Perfect Circle in quite awhile, although I play my Tool albums ever so often in my car rotation. The guitarist (the one from Smashing Pumpkins) is awesome IMO. And Mainrd (sp?) has the best yell/scream in rock . Even though many of my fave bands of the 90's (Rage, Smashing Pumpkins, STP) no longer exist, I'm glad to see the musicians are still creating good music.

Billy Corgan and the drummer from SP formed another band awhile back... Zwan, I think. Can't find the album anywhere, though.

Whatever happened to D'Arcy, the bassist from Smashing Pumpkins? Is she in a band now? I originally didn't like the Pumpkins back in the day, and then just had one of those high school nights were everything seems like it's going wrong and you 'lash out' at the world . You know what I mean. "Disarmed" and "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" were my anthems that night and I've been a fan since.

Pumpkins were great. Didn't really care for Zwan but I only heard the same song repeated over and over again on the radio. Like Brian I never did find the album.
Cobie you gotta get Perfect Circle's last two albums. One contains remakes of older songs (like John Lennon's "Imagine"). Not to some people's taste but you should give it a listen. That album was eMOTIVe and is the newest. The prior one was called Thirteenth Step and I rank it right up there with Audioslave's first album and Velvet Revolver. You've probably heard "Weak and Powerless" and "Blue" on heavy rotation on the radio.
To me Maynard James Keenan is right up there with Trent Renzor and Chris Cornell for modern Rock Gods.

I think she got married and retired from music... possibly why they disbanded the Pumpkins, along with the fact that Billy was genuinely disgusted with the way Grunge imploded. Their first three albums (and a half, including Pisces Iscariot) were their better stuff, Gish being my favorite. The last couple of albums were really hard to listen to... I have Adore and Machina/Machines of God but almost never listen to them, and apparently there's a Machina II that I never bought.

I remember seeing Jerry Cantrel of Alice in Chains live in concert, opening up for Metallica. He was AWESOME. He did all the Alice songs which shocked me and then did a great rendition of "Brain Damage" and "Eclipse" (last two songs on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album.
Has he done anything lately?

He's working with a new group called the Cardboard Vampyres according to his site . Did you ever listen to his 2-CD album "Degradation Trip"? I think it came out in 2002.

No...I never checked it out. Maybe I'll look for a few songs later tonight online.
About a year ago, Miner recommended "Nuetral Milk Hotel" to me, which is a band I never heard of. I downloaded their song "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" and liked it. Anyone ever heard of this band? If so, what are some recomendations on songs to listen to?

My most recent purchase was the Bonzo Dog Band box set. Fun stuff, but you wouldn't rock out to it.

I'm a huge Zep fan, and one of my best friends growing up had a vintage Zep poster that he bought at a tag sale that was used for a Zep concert in New Haven in the 70's. The band that opened for them was actually "The Bonzo Dog Band", which is kinda cool! Never heard there stuff though...

I got M.I.A.'s new CD. Its very interesting, a bunch of different influences.
I got Zwan's CD. Its okay...I had a an old roommate in Boston was a crazy big Pumpkins fan. He was a Pumpkins completist and loved getting all of these rare CD singles etc. so he kinda turned me on to there stuff too...

Cobie, Pov, did you know that James Iha from the Pumpkins is now a member of A Perfect Circle? Just found that out myself.

Scooter, yeah I did catch that a few months ago. I think I made a reference to that somewhere earlier in this thread...James Iha is an awesome guitarist IMO and probably my favorite member of the Pumpkins.

Ugh. I just listened to Adore again and now remember why I hated it so much... The whole album was recorded using a drum machine because Jimmy C was in rehab. All the songs are lifeless and James Iha really didn't get to cut loose. The only thing the album had going for it was D'Arcy's in the CD booklet, and even those weren't too great. Though she did wear a see-thru top again, along with devil's horns, when they appeared on SNL to promote the album. That was funny.

Morrissey--"Live at Earls Court"
It has my favorite new song, "Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice". A great, funny, classic Morrissey song.
