I recall come of the Super Friends stories actually being a little dark! One episode that comes to mind is one in which the world ended due to a comet or solar flare or something like that (maybe something the Legion of Doom did?), and history had to be changed to avert it. Can't remember all the details, but I remember it wasn't the only episode that had some darkness to it and some borderline scary imagery--at least to the 'tween or younger me I was at the time!

I dont recall the episode you described, Lardy, but I do remember two episodes that scared me as a kid: one with Superman aging rapidly, and another with a vampire who transformed normal people into vampires with beams he fired from his eyes.
