This was taken over London on Saturday. It looks very scary. Apparently the planes were a safe distance appart and no warnings sounded either in the planes or air traffic control. Get the BBC news story here

I reckon it's more a case of our brains mis-interpreting the picture, rather than the camera lying.
See, there's this thing called 'perspective', where big things far away look smaller than little things close up.

See Father Ted for a better explanation. See this cow is near, and this one is out in the field sort of thing. Just out of interest, who came up with the phrase the camera never lies? As it obviously does, both unintentionally as above and sometimes deliberately to prove a point.

Just out of interest, who came up with the phrase the camera never lies?
I'm guessing that it was the first person to try lying / deceiving using a photograph as 'proof'.

Not that I always believe the authorities, but you figure some passengers would have spilled the beans if there had truly been a close call. It does look pretty freaky, though.
