I liked it! My prediction of a 2nd team of heroes (ok anti-heroes) came true. Guys who hate the boy/lad names like Plant Lad does. wink

The Wanderers! I love them. As a matter of fact I love the SPs, Terror Firma, and the Wanderers (and whatever Sunboy's team calls themselves). Sadly the Legion are not my favorite characters in this series. But WaK has sure given us options! wink So I will root for the antagonists. It's fun!

So I guess Grav isn't Nemesis Kid. the orange guy.

White Witch! Yes! And looking like her "classic" form. And by classic I don't mean silver age. whew! Her forcefield was very impressive. Loved the graphics/colors on the page.

Barry's art was fantastic as usual. The one thing I didn't care for was how young Mon-El looks. It was just in some panels but I just figured he'd have a more mature look...the thousand years in the PZ and all. And while I always liked his classic uniform...it does look a bit dated. I guess I got used to the last Mone'l uniform.

This title sure has hit it's stride. I like Mekt. He's a much better character than before. He was always cool but never had depth. (except his small part in v4)

I loved this issue. It's great to see the White Witch back. I love her costume. I noticed that a lot of the Wanderers look like adults. Is that intentional, do you think? Will any of these older characters be joining the LSH when this storyline's over? It'd be interesting to see Mysa as one of the more mature members of the team.

I'm thrilled at this issue smile First, it's refreshing to see the team come together again. That part where they all pitched in to forcefeed Mon made me cheer.

Second, not only do we get Brek, Ral and Mysa, but it's nice to see the Legion up against a group of opponents who are not quite evil (at least, as it seems). Shades of gray and all that. And this was a brilliant way to reintro
Mekt.

Also, nice to see Nura again, and good to have Dream Boy start earning his flight ring.

I have been thinking about something. the group that Mekt is running has a lot of members. and like the Legion it stands to reason these guys need a base, a ship and/or transmat tech. so my question is who's funding these guys? Mekt said he doesn't trust or rely on the government. so who's playing Daddy Warbucks to their Orphan Annie?

given the revamps that have been going on, is it perhaps going to be that rich guy(forgot his name) that the original Legion saved?

wow. the best issue yet!

the flubbing of the Terror Firma storyline is forgiven (as long as the ending of this arc isn't mucked up!).

Seeing Mysa and Mekt back overshadowed the liberation of Mon-El (although that was well-done, too!)

We now know why the super-dominator Dirk met wanted the Legion's help, it seems. The Dominators' manipulation of Supergirl onto the team implies that the disc-heads are either controlling the Legion, or think they do/will.

Who's thei daddy Warbucks? Tarik seems the likely answer. Mekt and company may think they're the Wanderers, but Tarik may have other things in mind.

After a year and a half of lacklusterism, the last few issues have been Good - and for the first time since reading #4 I am seriously looking forward to the next issue!

2 things i am wondering:

1) If the plan was for White Witch only to extract some Legionnaires, what is the purpose of the cliffhanger of last issue?
Why are they surrounding Legion's Headquarters?

It seems to me there's more to see than meet the eye. Guess we will know next issue.

2) Brainiac 5 is saying that the Tromians eradicated the Daxamites 3 centuries ago. However, they were referenced during the first arc. Daxam was mentioned towards the beginning of the series, as a planet closed on itself if i remember correctly. They don't accept strangers.

How is it possible since daxamites didn't exist anymore?

Querl, I wondered the same thing about the Daxamites. Maybe the current residents of Daxam are descendants of Trom???

that is true, they didnt say Daxam no longer existed, but that the Tromites had wiped the Daxamites out. It is possible that one of the reasons the current inhabitants of Daxam are closed is because of that genocide.

I'm also wondering where Sun Boy's group will fit in here. We have the Legion, the Wanderers and Sun Boy's group, and the Dominators are connected to all of them. I'm glad there's a sort of definitive lineup for the Wanderers now, but there are just so many characters floating in the background that it can get kind of confusing.

I agree that this was the best issue in a while.

It's ironic that in this boot, Tromites wiped out the Daxamites, while in the last boot, Daxamites wiped out the Tromites. Paybacks are hell as they say.

Still wishing Polar Boy wasn't green. Why do we need green Brainy, green Inferno, green Plant Lad, AND green Polar Boy. I suspect that "Makes things Green" Boy is the criminal mastermind who's manipulating the Wanderers from behind the (green) scenes.

Why was HQ surrounded if all the Wanderers planned to do was extract 4 Legionnaires? I suspect that it was all about the drama and that there is no other logical reason for it.

I'm hoping we see less Brainy, Imra, and Cos in the future and see more Star Boy, Invisible Kid, Colossal Boy, Projectra, Timber Wolf, Triplicate Girl and etc. etc.

P.S.

I'm wondering if Grav is a rebooted Weight Wizard from his power description. WW could supposedly change his weight either way, but all we ever saw him do was dance around in the air by making himself lightweight.

Does everybody in the 31st century have super powers? The playing field is getting awfully crowded, IMHO.

Well, it also keeps the Legion occupied while the Wanderers do whatever else it is they want to do. We don't know how long the fields were supposed to be up, after all, or just what Mekt's plan is.

1) I liked the issue too. The artwork is great, and the story had lots of gems throughout. Thanks!

2) About the badge in the roll call page - it reads jibberish to me but probably refers to a Black Ops badge. The bite out of it looks like an electric blast. The splattered blood and puddle is a little disturbing to me - maybe Mekt is more than just angry at the UP?

3) The Legion seems to have A LOT of competition in this series, with Terror Firma and the Wanderers (and others?). I just hope members won't be flip-flopping like free agents from one group to the next.

4) I'm disappointed that older version names like "Wanderers" and "Reflecto" are kinda just thrown into this series with little purpose. It seems to be just a way of profiting off another writer's idea, especially if the name has a completely different meaning in this version or is just used as a throwaway term. If we are going to have the Wanderers or Reflecto, lets see THEM, or an updated take on the original idea, not an obscure afterthought.

5) Of all the neat things going on in this issue, I liked the Brainy/Dream Girl sequence best. These two characters were never my most favorite, but I enjoy them in this version.

random thoughts:
-- I like the revamped roll call page. It really shows that rather than just being bad guys, these guys are a social movement possibly of the same caliber as the Legion.
-- The Legion movement, rather than being the premiere social movement of the time seems to be just one of several. (Terra Firma and the robots are as well to varying degrees).
-- The White Witch looks great!
-- is anyone else getting flashes of "Battlestar Galactica" during the Brainy/Dream Girl scenes?

I have to disagree with this

-Brainy carries the book and it lags when he isn't in it.

-Imra, I don't think we have seen too much of her but I could take or leave her as she is now.

-Cos, I think he is a bit of a backbone for the series. This could be served by another character, but I think he is doing ok.

-Star Boy, Ok this one I agree on we have a few glimpses into his character but he's been more a sounding board for the others

-Invisible Kid is growing on me. I get that invisibility can lead to being sneaky but what is with the whining

-Colossal boy, needs a better plotline. When he was featured recently I found it hard to get through the pages and had to force myself not to skip them entirely.

-Projectra and Timberwolf I love, but like wolverine origins I think too much information can ruin the character.

-Triplicate girl has been in it a lot. She is very intriguing, but I don't think she has been underused

I would like to see more of Shadow Lass and Atom Girl though.

Now also I don't add in any attachments to previous versions of the characters. Factoring that in would be unfair because these characters just arent the same.

Are you talking about Mekt? I wonder if that's truly an unacceptable chance, or foreshadowning for those in the know that something's going to happen to him (physically, mentally, or emotionally) that is so horrible and terrifying that it turns his hair white.

page 3: Triplicate Girl's better halves did not look pleased with her getting so chumy with Element Lad. this can't be good for the future.

page 3: with all the time Jo Na spends sparing with Gim, I don't ever expect a giant to get the drop on him.

page 13: supergirl keeps hitting the barrier. she just seemed so earnest in that top panel. smile

page 14: that entire was awesome. I love the way Mon-El's fist just comes right out the page

page 20: loved that team work. it was like a well designed hockey drive. Shadow Lass passes to Invisible Boy! Cos and Atom Girl provide a screen. Gooooooal!

lastly Mr. Kitson you drew the heck out of this issue. one minor detail, Polar Boy is still greenish looking.
So, you think two of them have minds different enough not to want to get closer to him, and not just that they weren't lucky enough to draw the short straw or some such game to decide who gets to play that round against him? Playing the same game against yourself time after time could get dull fast.

And isn't every scene of her hitting the lightfield before Brainy tells her it won't work? So do you think it took him that long to figure it out, that he just didn't care that she kept making all that racket, or that he enjoyed leaving her helpless for once?

So back in one of the early issues it looked like there was a 'White Witch' in the crowd outside the HQ. Has she been outside the HQ all this time looking for recruits or was she recruited by Mr. Hood? We know that the hooded man recruited 'Indigestion Kid' from the crowd.

From Mekt's monologue we know that he thinks that the Legion is the equivalent of white Ivy-league kids protesting the Vietnam war back in the 60s. For his battle hardened team he's likely selected people that have experienced the flaws of 31st century life that the Legion knows as abstracted theory.
So, does this mean he doesn't know about Vi's background? Wasn't her entire species supposed to be enslaved by the Coluans? Or does he just ignore her as an aberration who's useful to him because of her loyalty to Brainy?

I wonder if the LSH really is Ivy-league type. Some of them have had pretty traumatic pasts in previous boots, but that could have changed. We already know, or at least highly suspect, that Brainy's mom didn't abandon him in this boot, and I doubt Ayla would have been so willing to listen to Mekt if he'd tried to kill her or those around her.

As excited as I was about Mon-El's return, the new Wanderers just blew my socks off. Mekt as a black ops "intergalactic knight" and Dominator-hunter is about as awesome a concept as I can imagine! I always knew he had it in him to be a hero. Still, with a convicted murderess on his team, I suspect Mekt won't let conventional ideas of morality get in his way, and anyone who fails to give him the absolute obedience and loyalty he demands is begging to be burnt toast. (Watch out, Ultra Boy.) I think Ayla just might throw in her lot with her older brother (vs. her "jackass" twin), for a while at least.

I had a feeling Mysa would show up sooner or later but her team affiliation came as a complete surprise. I like that her spells have wonky side effects, too. We're even treated to a visit from our dearly departed Dream Girl, with dire predictions of doom for Metropolis. I'm quite pleased how the Brainy/Nura symbiosis is shaping up (especially if it foreshadows the exit of the "astoundingly useless" Dream Boy.)

This issue had *everything* plus the kitchen sink. Great art, great story, exciting new/old characters and a massive "legion" of super-heroes taking form against the Dominator threat. I can't rave enough about it.
Was Mysa a loner in previous boots? I've never read a comic that featured her, to the best of my knowledge.

And Wasn't Mekt more than just a little crazy? So is this version more sane, better at hiding it, or one of those rare individuals that can made their insane rantings sound so logical that everyone thinks they're right and must be followed? Or will something happen later to drive him off the deep end?

Hey, he's not useless he got the kryptonite for Brainy, lol...[/b]
Or perhaps he's still growing into the role? His entrance certainly wasn't the most brilliant move, and I think using Brainy's security codes for practice must be the most brilliant or the most idiotic thing he could have done. Yes, he can get in places, but now Brainy knows that too and he may just have placed himself on the top of Brainy's list. You know he's got one.

I absolutely loved it! From beginning to end.

Great art by Barry! I like the construction of the pages, the storytelling.

And a great story! Thanks Mark!

We got to see everybody in the Legion. Dream Girl! Yeah!
If you add to that the new characters, the surprises, the plot with Mon-El, the teamwork within the Legionnaires, ....There is so many things!

It's great to see Atom Girl/Shrinking Violet finally well integrated within the team and acting with them!
Her guns are intriguing though. She seems to be able to do differents things with them. Last time, she has done a lot of damage with them on the leader of Terror Firma. There, she is firing plasma bursts on the red-sun wavelength!
Maybe Brainiac 5 has something to do with that.

This is great being a Legion fan right now! I'm so excited i can't wait for next issue, and Barry is telling us it will be like this during the months to come? I say YES!

You got me interested Wamu2. Even with the chart provided by nightcrawler, i have difficulties doing the translation of what is on the badge.
Did someone succed in reading it?
If Vi and her entire race is as loyal to Brainy as others think they are, wouldn't he try to make his ace in the hole as powerful as he could without making her a danger to himself as well? If he can convince her people to willingly do microscopic labor for him to do the seemingly crazy task of bringing the dead back to life, even when the Coluans who held them before used them specifically to do microscopic labor, they've got to be in his corner for keeps -- or at least that's what he thinks.

Or maybe a group with as many people with questionable morals as this isn't above stealing the money and equipment, or whoever's bankrolling them is just using them without their knowledge. For that matter, they might have their own version of the early Princess Projecta, though I suspect their version would be a hostage.

Perhaps people historically thought the Daxamites had been eradicated and were later proven wrong, or he was only referring to those on the planet's surface at the time? Or perhaps -- gasp -- Brainy was wrong! Well, if the third one's true, you know we'll hear about it, because the others would never let him live down a mistake that big.

My money is on Mekt being completely looney. Nuts. He probably made up the whole UP- sponsored-Black-Ops-team business. "I'm the last man standing on my team, so I've snuck across the galaxy, gathering followers along the way...working the shadows, always working in the shadows" "Serpentine Shel, serpentine!".

So what.

YES!

Mekt! (No codename, but Mekt! And no stupid costume!)

A super-powered group that isn't exactly allied with the Legion yet isn't there for some pointless heroes-versus-villains fistfight, either.

Brainy & Dreamy -- the Burns & Allen of the 31st century?

White Witch!

No!

White Witch's dull JC Penney wedding gown.

Mekt's shaggy, grown-out hair. Where's Barber Boy?

Huh?

The blurb for The Wanderers. Is that merely a bluff for the readers? It doesn't jibe with what Mekt described.

The best issue in time for the holidays--suhweet!
Great writing*/pacing coupled with glorious art/colors and featuring the return of my favorite character. Now that's how to start a new year of Legion loving! Kudos to all involved.

*probably an oversight from editorial side or a wicked piece of deception but in Issue 2 Theena gives Sun Boy a report that totally contradicts what we hear from Brainiac 5 regarding Daxam.
