I don't know how crazy I am about having to pause stuff just to catch what they throw at you, or having to go online to find out what I might've missed, but as long as it's still entertaining it makes for interesting television.

My theory about the numbers on the computer is that the code activates the island defenses, whether it's the monster in the forest or in this case, the shark (it's the branded shark that goes right for Sawyer, the other sharks were just regular sharks, or so my theory might go). I couldn't say what that counter was though...

I figured that the code DEactivates the island's defenses, based on the fact that Jack set off the alarms, then Bunker Boy made Locke enter the numbers. Self-destruct mechanism?

Also, when BBoy asks about whether or not any of the party are sick, where's he going? Are they setting him up to be a sort of soldier who doesn't know the war's over? Someone who thinks the apocalypse has happened, and is about to be very disillusioned?

In the scenes we get Jin (I mean Jin!) say "Things are about to change," in perfect english!

I thought the best scenes by far were Locke's flashbacks, some very raw (almost uncomfortably so) emotions there, as we finally find out who Helen is, and we see his $%%#%$ of a father reject him.

The present day stuff was a letdown to me. They throw Sawyer, Mike, and Jin into a pit. Then Michelle Rodriguez joins them in there, but I knew from the start that she would turn out to be a spy for the Others. On the other hand, this does set up some intriguing possibilities. She had appeared in the airport lounge towards the end of Season One, chatting with Jack. This leads me to belive there must have been some deliberate plan to get these specific people onto this island.

But the stuff inside the hatch is just getting ridiculous IMO -- I actually wanted them to miss the countdown, so that something might finally happen! And the whole thing with the training film felt more comedic to me than the writers probably inteneded.

Honestly, I would have been perfectly happy if, in the first episode, they had opened the hatch and accidentally unleashed monsters like the ones from the 80s cartoon Inhumanoids, as cliche as that would have been.

I'd have to think when Rose's husband turns up amongst "The Others" they'll realize they're all on the same side.

And what's up with the combination numbers all adding upto 108? shocked

It'd be really nice if Rose's husband were among "the others" (assuming they really are "the others" -- I think Jin might be jumping to conclusions). I'll hold out hope, but I kinda doubt it...

I just hope they don't drag out the antagonism any longer than it has to. It seems to be just a case of mistaken identity although it would be interesting if there were a genuine reason for this group of survivors to oppose the other group. I don't know if I'd actually mind if they spent half of this season telling us what these guys have been up to.

Actually I think it's a foregone conclusion that he is with the Michelle Rodriguez character's group. Rose said very early on that her husband wasn't dead, there'd be no point in the writers making her make that declaration unless something was to come of it later on.

Hey Cobie, sorry about your misfortune, but surely the good folk who produce "Lost" will repeat the current season when it finishes in 2006?

This may have been the single most F-ed up hour of television I've seen since X-Files. What a great concept! (paraphrasing) "Haven't you ever thought that when the code goes off, nothing will happen?" "EVERY DAY!" Beautiful. Yeah, everyone but my wife knew Rodriguez was a ringer. The whole scenario was pretty much wrecked by the well-publicized fact that she was another passenger. Jin speaking English? Uh-oh.

At first I thought maybe Jin speaking english was a flashback and the whole thing would be translated for us, but on second viewing, he's got the bruise on his cheek that he got last ep. So, I'm going to guess it's part of a dream sequence (I hope it's something freaky though smile ).

Wow! This season keeps getting better. I'm looking forward to some episodes that take the focus off Jack (who I despise) and Locke (who I used to despise).

I want to see more of Sayid, Charlie, Claire, Sun etc...

Matt, I'm with you. Sayid has been my favourite character, I'd like to see more of him and the gals.

This episode seemed to give a lot of hints toward where they are taking the show. The movie suggested a lot about the island. I wasn't sure what to make of the story, til the confrontation between Jack and Locke. I'm getting tired of Locke and his new agey outlook. (Guess it's no surprise I scored Jack on the test)

As for Michael and crew, the tease with Ana Lucia was confusing, but when isn't this show?

Just spouting off.

Kate's expression in the air duct when Mama Cass started blaring: priceless.

I almost want her to survive to season 3 now. Almost.

I said the very same thing to Lee the minute the episode ended.

Another great ep!
Great to see Rose again. And we meet Bernard too. I also like what they decided to do with all the food.

Me too. This was a pretty heart-warming episode, but not overly mushy. Those episodes usually mean the next one will be nuts.

Loved seeing them all laughing, and the Bernard & Rose scenes cut together.

I really hope the next Hurley flashback though, deals with the numbers in more depth.

hey, I called it! That's a first for me with this show. Now if it turns out that they're actually on the remains of Fantasy Island and Mr Rourke was actually Rimbaldi (from "Alias") then, I'll be happy! smile

I don't know if Hurley has any more insights on the numbers than we've already seen. It'd be cool if we found out more about them in someone else's flashbacks though. I think I read that the numbers were a later development that just sorta came up, so I don't know if they even really know why they keep popping up (other than freaky coincidence).

I thought it was funny how whatsername kept picking on Sawyer -- I almost felt bad for him after awhile, but she has so made him her bitch...

So what is killing the other survivors?

Loved the comedic relief of the Hurley flashback.

What's inside the concrete?

Definitely a good call on the food. Peanut butter for everyone!

Why are those people putting up with superbitch? Doesn't look like her strategy is working out too well, gun in her belt or not.

By mid-season, she'll be all about Sawyer *and* Jack, and they'll both be running her ragged. We'll prob see she isn't really a 'tough guy' in real life too in her flashback.

The African guy (we haven't heard a name yet, correct), is interesting too, now that we saw he felt bad about Sawyer.

Can't wait for a Jin-central episode if that is what's next. He's one of my faves!

Finally, the first Season Two episode that I liked from start to finish.

Strangely enough, Season One didn't really start working for me until Episode Four (the first one to focus on Locke.) And last night was...Season Two, Episode Four. Spooky.

I hope, as the season goes on, the Michelle Rodriguez character (I think her name's Ana Luisa, I'm not sure) becomes more three-dimensional. So far, she's just been the usual Michelle Rodriguez Screen Persona.
