While I said before I wish they'd have left Pheonix out of this (or made it a separate movie to really delve into it), I do like what they did with it. The cosmic stuff wouldn't have fit into the movie world and having her kill who she does offers the same, if not more, impact than her killing a star system. They needed her to do *something* to make killing her a genuine option.

I would've like to see more of her persona come out in dialogue beyond those early scenes. She sure was quiet later. Perhaps they were trying to get across that she was becoming so detached and such a destructive force that she was mostly disconnected from reality?

I just got back from watching it and while I loved the 1st two this one just lacking the energy and passion of the others. It a few good scenes but the movie was dragged down by the numerous cameos, bad editing, and over reliance of special effects at the expense of the plot. One of the things that bugged me the most was the fact all of Rogue's growth from the previous films was thrown out the window. Actually pretty much everyone in the film seemed to have lost braincells from the films previous. And so this doesn't sound like a total write off on the film, Sir Ian was fantastic as always, Madrox's small part was great, and Ellen Page did a pretty good job as Kitty.

It was okay. not as good as the first two, but not bad. Kelsey Grammer (and Hugh Jackman) were excellent.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

Saw it, liked it. Liked Beast. Wished Colossus had had more lines, but it was great to see him just busting heads in the big brawl. Angel had a loit more poreneial...mayube in the next movie.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

Saw it last night and LOVED it!
Jean was SCARY.
You can tell they were figuring this to be the end of the X-Flicks (what with all the deaths and de-powerings) but since it made 175 million dollars its first 2 weeks, seems like an X4 should be slated for Summer 2008!

I finally got around to seeing it today, and I thought it was fantastic. As the final chapter in the trilogy (which does not rule out further sequels), it took all of the development of the first two films and pursued them to their logical conclusions. I like the fact that the movie took chances with the characters (including some that were bound to prove unpopular with fans). There were a lot of surprises that I wasn't expecting.
In a two-hour or so movie, you really can't give significant screen time to so many characters, yet how the characters were used rang true. We got to see a fast-ball special, Iceman "iced up" for the first time, Beast said, "Oh, my stars and garters!" These little touches were pleasing.
The movie balanced plot with action and character development. I saw the film with someone who had seen SUPERMAN RETURNS last night and thought X3 was a much better film for achieving this balance. Yes the special effects of X3 were awesome, but they served the story rather than the other way around. There were no effects in the film that didn't have to be there; everything served a purpose.
Another element I enjoyed is that characters who were introduced as minor characters in previous movies "graduated" to full action status this time, including Kitty Pryde and Bobby Drake. Those of you who bemoan the fact that your favorite characters didn't have much to do, take heart: They may also grow in future films.
Cyclops was always one of my favorite X-Men, but his fate in this movie is logical, and paved the way for Storm to step up to lead, as she did in the comics so long ago. Besides, as others have pointed out, there's certainly a loophole for Scott's return.
Rogue's decision was among the unexpected turns, but, again, thoroughly logical, given the nature of her powers.
No movie is ever perfect, but this one shined more than most sequels do. The fact that it took chances made it more memorable than SPIDER-MAN 2, which had that feeling of "been there, done that." Even though I knew how the Wolverine/Jean plot would end, it was still riveting and tragic to watch.
Stellar acting: McKellen (always a delight), Berry, Jackman, even Romijn, who had much more to do here, albeit in fewer scenes (!), than in the previous movies. Kelsey Grammar surpassed all of my expectations. My own fanboy nitpick is that I wanted Beast to be the same age as Scott and Jean. But Grammer serving as elder statesman/mutant political envoy worked extremely well, particularly given his pivotal role in the finale.
All in all, X3 was a more than satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, and, in typical Marvel fashion, left the door open to further the franchise.

Here's hoping for an X4: NEW MUTANTS featuring maybe Kitty, Colossus and Angel with some new kids!

Just saw it, just liked it. I've never been a big fan of Wolverine. They did great with him and Hank. Callisto had an awfully large part for a character that didn't get named in the movie.
I'm with Lash, let's see the New Mutants.
Just spouting off.

Saw it the second week it came out, loved it(but I might be biased since Shadowcat's my favorite character of all time and I knew going in that X-Men 3 would be my favorite for that reason but I digress) I thought it was more interesting, more like it was getting into what X-Men do regularly(saving the world and all). The first movie explained what mutants are, the second movie explained the X-Men(it seemed to me) and the third showed what they do and was more in touch with the comics. Or maybe I just liked it for the shadowcat. And the guys this time around were cute too, but that's a shallow reason..

I just finally saw this last night. I'm kinda torn.
On the one hand, the action scenes were good. Really. Lotsa cool effects. But to me, that's all this was: action. The movie was definitely missing that something special that Singer and his writers brought to the first two.
The biggest thing for me is that Wolverine is getting his own movie... we all know that. I would have liked much more spotlight on the rest of the X-Men who aren't getting their own movies. More Colossus. More Iceman. More Kitty Pryde. Not to mention the fact that there were numerous other famous mutants that appeared in the movie, but if I hadn't read the credits I never would have guessed. Psylocke? Really? Jubilee? Huh?
I think the biggest letdown for me was the final battle. 5 or 6 lonely X-Men against 50 or so mutants... who apparently have very subtle powers. They looked like normal guys without powers. I think it would have been much more interesting to see the mutants be able to do something besides get beaten down by the X-Men.
Storm was used better in this movie than in previous movies, powerwise, but I think much more interesting things could have been done.
And for the most part, Phoenix might as well have not even been in the movie, cuz she really didn't do much, except for those 3 scenes.
And I really didn't buy that Wolverine's healing factor could repair him quickly enough that Phoenix couldn't disintegrate him. I guess maybe she didn't want him dead badly enough, considering everyone else got instantly vaporized.
Oh well. Like I said, it was good enough for an action movie, but after the first 2 movies, I was expecting more.
Some people are like slinkys: not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you knock them down a flight of stairs
