rent's gonna be late, but i'm-a gon' be happy watching tv in the street.

Got me a copy of Invader Zim Season 1, the MST3K boxed set 5 and the first season of One Piece anime(tho the sub-title translations weren't that coherent 'Behold the power of my smoking nuts!')

Then there's Sealab 2021 in july & Zim2 in august.

So what shiny disc movies have you guys been salivating for?

I've become intrigued by "OH! Mikey" -- a bizarre but supposedly hilarious Japanese drama/comedy in which all the parts are played by mannequins: OH! Mikey unofficial website .

(I must have mannequins on the brain -- this, plus my mention of the '80s movie Mannequin in the other thread...)

My latest was a birthday present. Universal's The Monster Legacy DVD Gift Set. It came with Hand-Cast, Hand-Painted Busts of Dracula, Frankenstein and The Wolf Man from Sideshow Collectibles. And the movies are the best releases of these classics yet. Here's what's included just on the Dracula 2 disc set:

Disc 1
Dracula (1931)
Run Time: 1 Hour 15 Minutes

Bonus Materials
  • Stephen Sommers on Universal's Classic Monster: Dracula
  • The Road to Dracula
  • Poster Montage
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • Audio Commentary with Film Historian David J. Skal
  • New Score by Philip Glass Performed by the Kronos Quartet

Disc 2
The Spanish language version (Run Time: 1 Hour 44 Minutes. I haven't watched it yet but don't know why its listed as being a half an hour longer than the English language version.)
Dracula's Daughter
Son of Dracula
House of Dracula

Each main movies has at least 3 of the film's sequels. You can't get a better gift for a horror film fan.

I am VERY interested in Sealab 2021... the episodes I've seen have been so ridiculously twisted!

I'd also be interested in a HARVEY BIRDMAN, ATTOURNEY AT LAW.

AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE is already out, but I'm not sold on that one yet. I like it, but do I like it enough to buy it...?

In non-animation sets, I anxiously await Season 3 of STRANGERS WITH CANDY and boxed sets of the original STAR TREK series.

Okay, so I found myself near SPIN STREET this morning and decided to stop by and see what was out.

No Strangers With Candy Season 3 yet-- darn it. No STAR TREK Original series in boxed-by-Season format yet-- darn it.

No Josie & The Pussycats (I really really want this early-70s cartoon in boxed-by-season format!!), dang it.

I toyed with the idea of buying SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS Season 1, because that little twerp cracks me up, but instead said "wait a burger-flipping minute!" and decided to look further.

Checked the A's... what's this? ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS had a Season 5?? 8 episodes I've never seen or even HEARD of, featuring guest-shots by Elton john, Baby Spice and Minnie Driver??? Saff had a child??!?!

Needless to say, I had to have it.

I recently picked up...
  • Ground Hog Day
  • LA Confidential
  • The Hulk
  • The Grand Tour
  • City Slickers
  • You've Got Mail (that belongs to the wife)
  • The Hudsucker Proxy
  • Mystery Men
  • The Dream Team
  • Doc Hollywood
  • While You Were Sleeping
  • The Negotiator
  • The Frighteners
  • Carlito's Way
  • The Sting

I thought about getting the Angel and Voyager season sets, but can't pull myself around to do it. I thought they were going to put News Radio out on DVD but I'm still waiting to hear anything more on that.

Recently bought "dinnerladies" Series two - vastly under-rated sitcom about....can you guess?

Return of The King issued here today, but I think I'll just wait for the extended version.

dinnerladies is english?

just released here is set of a show called Chances.

started out as a soap about family winning lottery & moving in 'rich' circles.

Show never did well and as it became obvious it was gonna be cancelled the writers & crew just went... off.

Storylines included a Transylvanian organ legger called Vlad and the main characters father coming back as a ghost that couldn't leave until hero had shagged the girl he was about to have sex with when he died.

A friend of mine worked on the show & told mme about days he was called in told to wear half a nazi uniform & fishnets for a party scene.

Still the wait on SOC3.

Picked up slew of chinese super-heroish movies:
Protege De La Rose Noir
Electric Dragon 80,000 Volt
Silverhawk
Fantasia 60
Anna in Kung Fu Land

The Original Star Trek is coming out towards the end of this year. According to www.tvshowsondvd.com, the schedule is going to be:

Season 1 - August 31
Season 2 - November 2
Season 3 - December 7

And also apparently some sort of complete collected set of all three seasons is supposed to be out December 7 as well.

As for NewsRadio, it was on the cards, but the last I heard it had been delayed for some reason. Current release date is, unfortunately, unknown at this time...
