A FACEBOOK friend introduced me to my current obsession, a band from Germany named BOSSHOSS. 7 hot guys is stereotypical cowboy outfits, they exploded in Germany doing rockabilly/country versions of well-known songs. Their covers are amzingly original (I know, not easy to do for a covers band, huh?), well-done and fun-- and very very VERY sexy! I cannot understate how obsessed with them I currently am! To prove this, here's a sampling you can click on an enjoy! The ridiculously hot cover of Outkast's HEY YA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQVWXAlEUB8 Nucking futs fun version of Cameo's WORD UP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFTfWTqQ0dM Outageously cool version of The Cardigans' MY FAVORITE GAME: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdFyn8u85sQ Funny video (beware of F-word) to go with this amusing cover of I SAY A LITTLE PRAYER: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=He4NFXIKQkk And I'll close it down with this amazing and touching cover of IT'S NOT UNUSUAL. Just lovely, don't miss it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_yCDANMNiU

That reminds me of SILVER SURFER, a band from Kasel Germany lead by Karsten Kohler. They all dress like MEXICAN BANDITOS and have stage names (Vince, Tom, Jerry & Beach). They do rock & roll, surfing tunes, and "Americana" (folk songs & realy OLD pop songs). Among the artists whose songs they do are Johnny Cash, The Champs, Morton Stevens, Lalo Schifrin, The Limeliters, Link Wray, The Beach Boys, Dick Dale, Ritchie Valens, The Sandpipers, Dean Martin, Roger Miller, Tennessee Ernie Ford & Ray Charles. What a combination!! Yes, they also do originals, what struck me as funny about their 2nd CD was, it could have made a GREAT 4-song EP of new songs, but was fleshed out by all these fun oldies.

The Brotherhood Of Man -- "DO YOUR THING" (1971)
This may be as obscure as you can get. It's a "B" side of a single that didn't chart in any country... but somehow we wound up getting it. (The "A" side was "California Sunday Morning".)

Glad you liked "Overnight Angels", Rick.
The whole album rocks: "My Re-Generation" by the Down 'n' Outz a.k.a. Joe Elliot's Down 'n' Outz.

Always happy to find new good stuff. So much out there is a lot of noise to me. The song is identifiable. That works for me.

Despite the fact that this song is a New Wave track from 1984, I only first heard it a few days ago. Class Action, "Blast Off" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrDEsZYaGRw

I don't have a favorite "new" song, but one song I have gotten into lately is Sean Paul's "Get Busy"..... I cannot hear enough of it actually. I rather enjoy Dancehall music. It's growing on me!

Aqua, "Back To The '80s" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kw5s3CB_1pE This being YT, it might be wise to hit "Pause" immediately and wait for the whole thing to load before playing it, to avoid annoying interruptions in the music.
