Wicked Little Town as sung by Tommy Gnosis after he steals the song from Hansel/Hedwig...

I gotta admit it breaks my jaded gay heart...

Hedwig is such a trip! I really don't normally like rock operas, but that one's the exception that proves the rule, I guess. One day I will own it-- and watch it yearly (at least).

cool

Really, not a new song, but an all-time favorite that I always seem to come back to at this post-festive time of year:

" You Are Invited " by The Dismemberment Plan.

It's just such a perfect weird short story/two-minute symphony, in song form. I never get tired of it.

And now something completely different!

If you like that, take a look also at Ikävöi Ihminen, from the same group and also in youtube

(Now that I think of it, I may have recommended this here already. Oh, well...)

As of tonight I've watched it 3 times this MONTH, heh. ON DEMAND rules when an awesome movie is on the free list!

And to keep the Hedwig obsession rolling, I just bought and am currently downloading the movie soundtrack on I.Tunes!

I dare you to play it and not wanna grow a mullet and rock out!

Well, when one's lost, I suppose it's good advice to stay where you are until someone finds you. But who'd ever think to look for me here?

Absolutely loving the new Spock's Beard album!

Who'd have guessed that the flagship band of the 90s underground retroprog movement would suddenly release easily their best album since 2000?

Though I got sick of this song a couple years ago, I have started loving "The Gary Gygax Song" by Uncle Monsterface again lately.

It's an oldie, but "Pulling Mussels (From The Shell)" by Squeeze has been at the top of my playlist lately.

"Uptight" by Stevie Wonder. I'm a little late to the party but hey, that song is awesome to grove to when you're driving.

It's 4:30 am! That can only mean ONE thing! I'm watching a band of teenagers singing my latest favorite song while they frolic in a pastoral setting amidst a plethora of very colorful lifeforms which might be alien or aquatic (who knows!?) but either way are vaguely threatening!

The studio version is a bit more polished, but maybe this will give you an idea why I'm crazy about this song -

You folks have such cool, hip tastes. Me, I've been hopelessly mainstream ever since alternative became mall-ternative 20 years ago. Once in a while there's one I like that's both mainstream and cool (see: Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance", which I actually mentioned earlier in this thread), but more often it's stuff like Katy Perry's new one, "Teenage Dream." shocked

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FOulk2Ij8E

It's probably the fantasy of eternal youth that it sells. Or maybe the synth hook. Or maybe that her voice is considerably less annoying than usual.

FWIW, I hated all of Katy Perry's previous singles.
