I've been revisiting my youth and listening to Iron Maiden like crazy lately. Also first three albums Metallica and first five albums Megadeth. Any Maiden fans here? Not sure what spurred this on.

I've been on a Ronnie James Dio kick lately. Favorite non-Dio song at the moment is probably Return to Serenity by Testament. Unless I'm in a dancy mood, then it's Paralyzer by Finger 11 or Hella Good by No Doubt.

Not ashamed to say, I darn near teared up.

Sometimes you just really need Dusan Bogdanovic, one of the most amazing composers and guitarists who's ever lived, playing Gismonti's "Agua y Vino." This week is already Not Going Well. I expect to be returning to Bogdanovic many times this week, to ward off murder-suicide against various large institutions. Get on your knees and thank this man, MegaMedInsuranceCo, MegaBankCo, MegaUtilityCo and MegaTempCo. He may have just saved all our miserable lives.

"Our Song" by Yes, off their great album "90125", the one that has "Owner of a Lonely Heart."

Great choice, Stealth. That's one of my favorite albums. (My favorite track is "It Can Happen.")

"It Can Happen" is wonderful, too. The album is like a shiny gem cut and polished by master jewelers.

Prince's "When the Doves Cry". I've never been a fan of Prince, and generally never listen to any of his songs, but this one really stands out for me. Great tune.

Green Day's new CD "21st Century Breakdown" includes lots of catchy tunes in their trademark pop/punk style. I've always been a casual fan of theirs, but "Breakdown" was their first album I've ever actually bought. I based my purchase entirely off their SNL appearance without having previously heard either "Know Your Enemy" or "21 Guns".
"21 Guns" is my de facto obsessive humming/light singing tune right now, reinforced by that song being so prominent in the Transformers sequel I saw yesterday.
I highly recommend the album if you generally like Green Day. If you already hate them, I doubt it will change your mind. The album is a rock opera with a loose story thread running thru it. I've heard the same is true of "American Idiot"--I think I'll be picking that one up soon.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Heard this at the gym yesterday and really liked it. Tina Parol - "Who\'s Got Your Money" After I Googled parts of the lyrics to find out who sang it, I was pleasantly surprised to find out the name of the CD is Shrinking Violet

"All You Did Was Save My Life" by Our Lady Peace
They're not the same band without the original guitarist-- I loved Naveed-- but still good.
And the title has significance... figuratively, but there you go.

I've recently discovered the lone album (from 1975) by an Italian prog outfit called Maxophone. Musically, it's on the lighter, Genesis-side of things but with lots of jazz, medieval, and even soul influences. Fun stuff.

Always favorites at this time of year *: Sleater-Kinney singing "Funeral Song." Blanche's "Someday..." ( Note: kinda' violent for a peppy little country alt-rock video. Maybe don't watch at dinnertime.) Anita O'Day & Roy Eldridge w/Gene Krupa: "The Walls Keep Talking" . Lambert, Hendricks & Ross: "Halloween Spooks" . * Unless you're Sarcasm Kid, and then these tunes are just season-transcending "creavtive research." (These are for you, Sarky!)

Maybe you were smitten when you discovered that a housedress can, in fact, be rocked.
(if inclined, check out another song by them called "S.O.S")

I'm pretty sure I mentioned Radiohead's Creep, so I'll just say this is a favorite of a favorite... Brandi Carlile\'s live cover off a YouTube clip. Wow.

Oh gosh, I can't believe I'm admitting this... It's TAYLOR SWIFT, 'You Belong With Me'. I'm now obsessed with it. Here\'s the YouTube video. Yeah, it's the video she won the MTV VMA for. You may remember hearing something about Kanye West being a jerk? She was adorable on SNL last night. Plus she writes her own stuff. I'm now a fan. Leave me alone.
