I'm really getting into the latest album by The Soundtrack of Our Lives, called Origin, Vol. 1.
The lyrics are a bit goofy, but it flat out rocks.

No prob, CJ-- I had to redearch the 'net to find it. Got her CD today, so far so awesome... she's kind-of like a young Tori Amos, a bit more mainstream though, which isn't a minus for her. She's still deep but will likely sell more records. I've heard the first 4 songs and like them all so far. It's titled "Wreck of the Day".
Also bought the SCISSOR SISERS cd. omiGAWD, they space-rawk. Loved them when I saw 'em on SNL a while back, and the video for "Filthy/Gorgeous" has been playing at the video bar her, it was too awesome to resist.
Also bought Diana DeGarmo's "Bue Skies" cd for Mom tomorrow.

I know it's been out for a while now, but I just this week became obsessed with MAPS by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Karen O rocks.

The CD's been out a while, but I just picked up Green Day's "American Idiot". The whole thing rocks, but my fave is "Holiday".

American Idiot: "When September Ends" is going to be the big single off that album, whenever they decide to put it out.
Scissor Sisters: Even my lesbian friends are starting to question my sexuality with how much I love this big ol' gay album. The disco version of "Comfortably Numb" is hilarious. "Take Your Momma" is just a plain old great pop song.

ARMS!! Wonderful to see that some straight folks dig Scissor Sisters! TAKE YOUR MAMA is an instant classic. I've also become OBSESSED with the opening track, LAURA.

My wife first got into Scissor Sisters listening to the local indy rawk station a LONG time ago, now. She's the cool one in the family.... When I saw them on SNL, I thought their antics took away from the music. *IMO*... not a good thing.
I'm such a geek, I don't need to get any new cd's because I can just listen to the American Idol performances on the computer whenever I want. sigh...

What's really funny about it all is that I wasn't clear on the message of Take Your Momma, but I suspected it was GAY. Then I saw them on Saturday Night Live, and there were questions no more. Hey, I'm all FOR antics.

B4- "American Idiot" is the best CD I've bought in awhile! So far, I can just let the CD play from beginning to end and pick up wherever I left off and not jump around. It's that good!
Scissor Sisters? Haven't heard any of their stuff...have to check it out.
And Knowjack, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs kick ass! Now Lash has me curious about 'Y Control'.

I'll give Keane credit. They've been touring like heck to promote that disk. I think they're currently on their third US visit in a year.

Artist – Norah Jones
Album – Feels Like Home
Song – What Am I To You?
Makes a pleasant change from the usual stuff I listen to.
Scissor Sisters - thought they were crap to start with, but they're growing on me slowly.
Keane - thought they were good to start with, but the album's soooooo boring IMHO.
Hic!

Keane defintely is a bit of a one trick pony, but I like a lot of their album.

My latest favorite song is "Bleed Like Me" by Garbage. It is timely and yet timeless as well. It seeks to encapsulate teenage and sadly older angst as well. It deals with destructive self mutiliation and starvation and addictions and gender crisis' often suffered in silence and agony. This song puts many things back into perspective for me. Very sad, very important, please give it a listen.

I also just got the Ryan Adams "Gold" CD. Again, not new, but "New York, New York" is turning into one of my favorite songs ever. "Firecracker" is great, too. I really didn't want to like Adams because by all accounts he's kind of a dick, but his talent is absolutely undeniable. If you like Toots AND Ryan Adams you might check out their Time Tough duet. Getting heavy rotation on my iPod these days: Beck's GUERO; various Iron & Wine, various Ryan Adams and the divine Jill Scott.
