AND, I am totally pumped over Leela James. I only heard one song but WOW! Loved it! So soulful and retro but new. That make sense? Excited about the new Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crow too.

Back in the 80's my friends and I used to make an effort to find cool new music that we'd heard somewhere or another. Dance clubs and MTV and the radio were great resources. We actually used to spend the time just sitting around listening to music. Getting older and having responsibilities totally cuts into a person's music appreciation time! Especially when you have kids. The fun thing is, your kids get older and begin enjoying their own music. My wife and I were very happy to give our sons cd's for Easter last year. Music is a great gift.

My tastes in music are very eclectic, but I do like those big beautiful ballads sung by lovely ladies. That is a genre that never goes out.

Sketch I agree. PJ Harvey, Lisa Loeb, Sara McG, and a many others. I know I know...i'm a regular Lilith's Fair freak.

Anyways lovely ballads by girl singers me like. There is so much soft rock bands now...they all sound the same. They need to get a chick singing. If I hear another Rob Thomas or Dave Matthews wannabe I will scream.

Speaking of lovely female ballads. Anyone here has heard Red Delicious. Damn that got me some every single time! I loved them.

I mentioned giving our sons cd's, but I forgot to mention that our daughter has been a music lover all her eight years. She has a Hello Kitty boom box in her room and a TON of cd's, most purchased, but many burned from our collections.
I never had such access to music as a child. I wonder how into she'll be when she's older? They'll probably have some kind of technology where you can just speak into your sound system and get whatever you want.

Also, we LOVE iTunes!

My kids are also big music fans. My five year old LOVES Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne, and the worst punishment we give her is taking away her cd player. My son is into the Killers--"Play the 'Got Soul but I'm not a soldier' song."
