EPISODE 4 SPOILERAMA!!!
AT LAST: THE HAT!!!
Tonight's Kirkman-written episode has been a total divergencefest, and it has been EXCELLENT.
You can SO tell he wishes he had done more with... certain characters who aren't around anymore.
I have ***LOVED*** how the stand-off workjed out...!
And it's not even OVER yet....

Great episode all the way around. Twist and turn on the gang bangers. The hat makes a return. Scenes basically right out of the book at the end.
Figures Kirkman wrote this one...great episode.

God that was awesome! When I heard "I've gotta go pee," I realized what was coming.
Absolutely devastating.
Anyone keep track of who died? Two confirmed. Wife says she saw a third but wasn't sure who. Going by the preview, I'm pretty sure another got bit whom fans of the series would recognize.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Funny, I was thinking how zombie-lite the past couple episodes had been. Then...

Why am I liking Darryl and hoping he sticks around for a while. I wouldn't like the guy as a person, but he brings something to the show that is more believable than Mearle did/does.
Can't wait for him to show up again.

I saw Jim swinging the shovel but didn't see anything else happen to him. Honestly, the show had hypnotized me into thinking that this stuff wouldn't go down 'til episode six! And actually, prior to this episode the only zombie-caused fatality we'd witnessed to this point was the horse. That really sharpened the impact of what happened tonight, IMO.

Dev, I'm with you. I won't mind if Darryl sticks around. I think he's less unstable that Merle and more likely to listen to reason.
Maybe...

Can't wait for him to show up again. I liked Daryl more and more as the episode went on. After he turned his crossbow on Rick, it seemed like he started to fit in. I also liked how he used Merle's hand on the prisoner.

In the comic, IIRC, you don't even see it happen, just afterward.

So, Dev, you think there were only two and a half fatalities shown in the camp?

Personal issues aside. That was great...and the fact that Rick went along with it was awesome too.

I really liked Jim a lot tonight. The actor really brings something to that character. I think it's his eyes.
Dale, Andrea and poor Amy were terriffic, too.

The casting people deserve an emmy for this show. So many of the characters are cast perfectly...but Glenn and Jim are like they jumped off the page.

Great episode, i love the series as i did the comics. However, is it just me or does anyone else find the fact that you have a group of people who escape a nightmare to stay outdoors, no real protection and almost like they are camping. I guess i am old school but i find it ridiculous, you wouldnt stay outdoors and if you had to you would find something better then what they did. Up and away is my motto.

Yeah, for sheer lookalikes, you can't beat those two. But both actors bring a lot else to the table besides their looks. Having just watched the ending sequence again, there's at least one man and another woman likely to have been fatalities. I think the man may have had a speaking part, though I keep confusing him with Morales (?). He's the one who got it on the shoulder, not Jim. I didn't see the woman get bitten, but she was dragged down. Didn't recognize her. Didn't see Jim get bitten. We may have had more redshirt fatalities than the four or five, judging by the graves in the preview and the body piles on the ground (though many were zombies).

It wouldn't be my choice at ALL, but they did confirm previously that they are up in a mountainy-type area, which was why they were surprised a zombie had found them.
And I guess they are nearby a water and food supply (the lake).
And I can see some appeal of being out in the open (LOTS more escape routes when there's no walls)... but me, I'd def. want to be indoors.

Well, in their defense I'd say they're still learning the rules. While we have a wealth of zombie movies to draw from, they do not. (Darabont and Kirkman have referenced this in interviews.) As far as they knew, there was a relative lack of zombies out in the country compared to Atlanta and towns like Rick's. They're learning how most of us do: the hard way.
