THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR: The dreaded "WIIMAKE"There were a lot of third-party games that didn't make it to GameCube last generation. Unfortunately, a lot of companies have decided that the best way to make a quick buck off of the initial success of the Wii is to repackage these last-generation games, map a button-press here and there to some slashy-feeling wiimote movement, and call it a new release. WATCH OUT FOR THESE. With a few exceptions, they are horrible, and completely a result of software companies being caught with their pants down and having nothing ready to support Wii, since as we all should know , it takes a couple years for a development team to make a great game. After having the Wii for a few months, here's my call. 360 has better games right now. No doubt about that. However, the Wii has in its lesser games some flashes of brilliance which the 360 will never be able to duplicate in this round of consoles. Once the developers figure out the controller, it's going to be ON. If you're a retro gamer, the Virtual Console will absolutely warm your heart. I love it. If you're a big online gamer, go 360. Its online support is and always will be better than Nintendo's. Nintendo wants to see families and friends together playing in front of the TV. That's their business model. Not that online won't be good in their games: I just think that it will always be an afterthought. Of course, this could change if they get a sales backlash related to it. It's unlikely at this point, though, since Wiis are still flying off the shelves and there are still shortages in areas. If you love eye candy and have an HDTV, go 360. However, be warned: on regular TVs, the difference in graphics quality between 360 and Wii does diminish. Obviously, if you love the Nintendo franchises and hearing "It's A-Me, Mario" puts a little sunshine and rainbows into your day, as always, go Nintendo. And my apologies to all Sony followers, but in my humble opinion, the PlayStation 3 is close to doomed. I've been an avid gamer ever since the Atari 2600, and I know when the blood is in the water. PS3 is this generation's Dreamcast. There, I said it.

Port over Guitar Hero II or the upcoming Rock Star and I may think of adding a Wii to my set-up. But for now the 360 works just fine, especially with HDTV and HD-DVD player.

Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Star are both slated to be on the Wii this holiday season. Rumor has it that you may be able to slide the wiimote into the guitar hero guitar and do cool new motion tricks when your Star Power is full.

If they do Rock Star I may just have to buy it for the Wii instead. Caroline really wants one where she can play drums and I want the guitar. We could have a LW rock band.

HURRAH!!!! I've finally gotten a Wii!! Me and my Girlfriend had a blast playing Wii Sports, I can see that game becoming a party game favorite. She KOed me in boxing!! Golf and baseball were alot of fun too. Also have Wii Play (came with the second Wiimote). Really liked pool and the duckhunt syle game there. Picked up Zelda:Twilight Princess and Super Paper Mario as well. Haven't played alot of these two yet, but they seem like fun games so far. For the VC I downloaded Punch-out (that game is as much fun as I remembered it being) and good old Super Mario Bros. There are a few other games I want to get but I have to pick up a classic controller first.
Despite a long history of gaming (I started with an atari 2600) the last few years I haven't gamed much. I found games becoming too complex to be truely enjoyable. I found developers were focusing so much on how realistic they could make the game they were missing on what I feel is the true purpose of gaming....how much fun the game is to play. Wii seems to be returning to this focus. I haven't had it long but I love my Wii already!!

I tried, but he's more how I'd like to look. ;-)
Okay. I found out how to find the Wii Code.
1. When you turn on the Wii, there's an envelope icon in a circle on the lower righthand corner. Click on that.
2. This brings you to a screen that has three icons on it. Two on the lower left hand side, one on the right that says Wii. The leftmost icon is a calender. The one next to that is a pen and paper icon. Click on the pen and paper icon.
3. This gives you 3 large icons in the center of the screen. The leftmost says Memo. The center is a large open enevelope. The one on the right says "Address Book" and has two smiley faces on it. Click on that one.
4. The Wii number should appear on a screen that says "Address Book" again. If it doesn't, click the minus icon to the left, and that should bring it up. Once you add something to the address book, it doesn't take you automatically to the front page.
My Wii Number is 2308 4718 2007 5245
Anyone else want to share?

I was thinking about Guitar Hero 3, but are the songs all like hard vintage rock? I think I saw a song list sample and only knew a few of them...

I'm not sure, ME. I'm going to suck at it so much I won't recognize the songs anyway. But MySims is kinda addicting. I've gotten almost four hours into it already. That's a long time for me.

For me, I have to say that I'm digging the Wii's controller setup-- the nunchuk and remote combo-- a lot. It makes some games a lot easier.

Chris bought himself a new mobile just before Christmas and it came with a free Wii. We weren't expecting to get it until some time this month since they're seriously sold out in the UK (still, I think. Certainly a complete lack of them before Christmas) but in fact they shipped it from Germany so we got it before Christmas, which was especially good since we didn't have an internet connection or decent TV (we'd just moved house and were having... issues with all that stuff).
The Wii went with us to both our families and we spent many hours playing Wii Sports and agreeing that it's possibly one of the best things in the world. Since then we've been playing Super Paper Mario (which Chris has completely finished and I'm about half way through) and I've been obessivly playing Lego Star Wars (the complete six films version). I've nearly finished all six films and still only have 59% done, but I;ve not gione back and got all the canisters and challenge levels of a lot of them. I've still not unlocked the Bounty Hunter levels either and haven't worked out how to unlock Indiana Jones as a character either.
We've also got Rayman: Ravin' Rabbids 2 which is a genius game for playing with other people (we spent about four hours playing it with friends the other weekend) and Brain Training (which is oddly compulsive) and Super Mario Galaxy (which I've not really played yet but Chris has and can only play for about fifteen minutes without feeling sick because it's very disorientating but also brilliant).
Ah, I love the Wii. Also my Wii does look creepily like me. We've still not got intenert connection so we're not hooked up online with it yet but when we are I shall let you all know.

I thought this was just for kids. My cousin got one and we've played it half a dozen times. I love it as does my entire family. I need to get one!

We've come to the conclusion that it's actually the opposite. The regular games are for younger people as ever but the ones designed specifically for the Wii are actually aimed at older people. In fact Chris' Grandmother (who is 83) is seriously considering buying one because she liked the bowling so much.
