Am I the only person who thinks that though Laurel started out as a retconned Kara-replacement, she quickly evolved into her own character, a worthy one in her own right? Which is to say, I think there's ample room for both Laurel and Kara in any Legion continuity. It surprises me that it always seems to be thought of as an either-or deal. You can either have Kara or Laurel but not both? Didn't we have Superboy, Mon-el *and* Dev-em in the first continuity? Why not multiple female Daxamite/Kryptionian level characters too? Have both of 'em! Double your fun! See Brainy's head explode! I'd buy it!

Ooo and one day I'll finally get around to writing that fanfic where Kara is revealed to be half-Carggite and her other selves are Andromeda and Power Girl! (I'm probably not the only person to have thought of that) Hey it worked for Tinya Wazzo!
I always thought FTR, that Kara was horribly under-used in the Legion, early silver age excepted. I guess that with both Superboy and Mon-el, three characters with the same powers weren't needed. But I always did want to see more of her in the LSH. *wistful fangirl smile*

If you have Superboy, Mon-El, Ultra Boy, Super Girl, & Andromeda (and don't forget Thunder!) in the line up, who is strong (or stupid) enough to take on the Legion? Considering the way Kara was so rarely used in the preboot and Laurel was so quickly written offstage in the reboot, it seems to me we'd be lucky to get either one of them.

Vee, you're right of course. Too many very powerful characters *is* a problem. A solution to that might be to have Laurel and/or Kara as an occasional guest star rather than a full-time Legionnaire, not a great solution for fans of either/both characters I guess, but better than nothing! (which as far as both of them is concerned, far too often in Legion history has been true alas!)
Jim, you make a good point! I like both Kara and Laurel a lot! They've both been badly used except for one period a piece (TMK and early Silver Age respectively) Too bad. I hope we will see one or the other again!
I would ignore Thunder personally. I never thought she was a good fit with the Legion. She was an awkward Supergirl-analogue whose use was mystifying considering that continuity had a perfectly good Supergirl-analogue already in Laurel. (even though I do consider Kara and Laurel to be completely separate characters myself)
It might be good if Laurel was rebooted as a brunette! That would make her even more different from Kara and more a character in her own right. A superficial difference, but I think it would make them more distinctive.

Believe it or not, I've got a LOTR piece posted at my site, along with a number of other LSH eras... http://www.webspawner.com/users/zodiaccomics/klordny.html (I'd post it here, but haven't figured out how. You can only cram so much into your brain!)

I would never vote to replace SG with Dream Girl. Phantom Girl & Violet, maybe... but never Dream Girl. But that's personal preference.[/QB] I chose Dream Girl to replace Saturn Girl for 2 reasons. 1. Saturn Girl was overused and Dream Girl was underused. 2. Dream Girl could fill the same role as Saturn Girl in most stories. She was intelligent and scientific and showed leadership qualities, which is the role Saturn Girl most often played. Also, she could simulate Saturn Girl's powers. Instead of Saturn Girl reading the bad guy's mind to find out his intentions, Dream Girl could've predicted his actions in time to thwart them. Neither PG nor Violet could fill either the leadership/scientist role or the extra sensory perception role.
