I'm not going to comment on individual designs, which I'm okay with for the most part, but one general complaint I have is the lack of bright colors among the team. There's a little too much dark blue, purple, and black, and if you ignore people with mostly white outfits, you've really only got Sun Boy's red and yellow, Element Lad's yellow, the red on Saturn Girl's outfit, and maybe Triplicate Girl's cape providing any sense of brightness.

It seems to that given the concept of this version of the Legion, they'd be out there in the brightest colored super-hero outfits they could find.

The only way to rectify this problem, as I see it, is to find some character who's going to be prominently displayed in many shots and put him in a bright green shirt and bright yellow pants.

Agreed! Green shirts and yellow pantaloons with RED gloves and wacky-ass red thingies on their shoulders are KEWL. Maybe for Karate Kid. Or... I know! Colossal Boy!!!!

OK-- here's my Calling the Roll for the new costumes...

LYLE: I'm sure a headband's a' comin' since I'm guessing this outfit's casual.

ATOM GIRL: Uh-- guess we can't believe everything we read (ie-- Vi being hidden from the rest of the team). Glad the green's in her costume and not in her hair.

PRINCESS PROJECTRA: Does 'princess' meet the standards of the boy-girl-lad-lass committee? What is that atop her shoulders and behind her head? I like the purple with her white hair against it.

KARATE KID: Puzzling race change since Asian characters are even more under-represented in the Legion than blacks. Guess he could still be south Asian or Polynesian, come to think of it. Costume-wise... I need to see a full pic.

SATURN GIRL: Maybe she'll look more modern in full-figure. A glowing Saturn emblem? I'd imagine Cos's uniform would look similarly simple if seen in a pic as tiny as Imra's.

DREAM GIRL: Like the top... can't quite make out the pants/leggings.

PHANTOM GIRL: My fave of this batch. She looks in costume and in pose the part of a diplomat's daughter (assuming she still is one...) fresh from finishing school here . I appreciate the stylized 'P' and the matching black gloves. Looks she's got *long* hair.

ELEMENT LAD: Red/orange and yellow are a definite change for Jan. I'd still like to see a pastel blue and green uniform for him, but I'm intrigued by the symbols and the cape. I kind of wish he had curlier hair...

COLOSSOL BOY: Kind of boring... it'd be interesting if detail appeared in his costume when he was at taller heights that doesn't show in his six-foot state.

TRIPLICATE GIRL: I liked the coat-skirt better. It could've been updated to orange instead of the cape. On capes, in general... yes for E-Lad, Shady, Star Boy and Projecta... no for Saturn Girl and Luornu.

SUN BOY: What happened to his red hair!? Hope this is an effect of the 'glow' the Legionnaires seem to be traveling in. I think his original costume from way back when just can't be beaten.

COSMIC BOY: Very 'New Gods'ish. I like it. But there really should be some metal on it *somewhere*. He looks like a young William Shatner to me, here.

LIGHTNING LAD: Love the glow. Not sure about the lightning stripe down the arms, though.

LIGHT LASS: Hmmm... it's been *so* long since we've had a Light Lass. Don't dislike this, but I'm not particularly fond of it either.

BRAINIAC 5: *Really* don't like the crew cut or the olive green.

CHAMELEON BOY: Weird symbols... appearing alien... just looks wrong without the antennae. Maybe he has to earn them?

STAR BOY: Great looking character design and costume.

SHADOW LASS: Longish Lousie Brooks bob. Very stylish. Wish she could have 'peekabo' cold shoulders like Tinya. I think the pale skin is caused by the 'glow' (generated by the flight rings?).

Can't wait to see Lyle's uniform and the owner of the mystery-boots.

Honestly, I would be just fine with Lyle's "civilian" clothes as his outfit. As someone above mentioned, he needs to remain the most incognito, so why not keep him in something unique? I took the black stripe on his shirt for being an "I" anyway.

I'm still trying to understand all of the love for Phantom Girl's outfit. The symbol is unique. It took me awhile to notice that it was a "P". But "bell bottoms"? And those earrings? A little too retro for me. But I can chalk it up to difference in preference I guess.

In a way I agree Kid, the big bell bottoms are a bit too trendy for me but they're trying to attract a new following so I can deal with it. Besides I loved the outfit so much in high school that practically every sketch I did back then had someone in a pair of 'em. (inspired of course by Grell and Cockrum) I was actually glad to see her move away from that look later on, the outfits ought to evolve in the book just like they do in the real world.

So we get Ultra boys boots plus one other. Mayhap this could be Mon El?


Light Lass I love the gravity powered Ayla so this is good for me. Although the classic adventure era costume was my fav, I can see this one being chosen precisely because it looks 20th century. 3/5

Brainiac 5 I hope those aren’t Borg type implants we see. A good solid updating. 3/5

Chameleon This is a bit bland for me, not helped by the shapes on the chest. And I thought Durlan antennas were what allowed them to read and then copy the forms around them. 2/5

Star Boy I love this. A great mix of the classic star field and the white we have just lost. And a cape, Superheroes have to have capes 5/5

Shadow Lass Sexy! Dark and almost vampire looking I just hope she gets a darker skin to go with it. 4/5

Sun Boy At last bright colours. I think I’m going to like this Tabard over a jump suit look 4/5

Cosmic Boy Strong, purposeful an instant classic. 5/5

Lightning Lad Looks very like the classic. Haven’t we seen lightning effects like this on other heroes? 4/5

Dream Girl Kind of miss the one piece silver body suit but this is a very good alternative. 4/5

Colossal Boy Hard to make out much detail on this one I think I’ll wait and see.

Phantom girl A great update. The cut outs and the stylised P work really well. I also like the black gloves. 5/5

Projectra Purple really looks regal. This out fit reminds me of the Emerald Empress for some reason? 4/5

Element Lad A pretty radical new look, but I really like it. I was never a fan of the other costumes anyway. Again it adds a bit of really needed colour. 5/5

Triad Almost the same costume we still get the colour codes of orange purple and neutral 4/5

Invisible Kid I’m guessing they are civvies so lets wait and see

Karate Kid? a bit bland for my tastes although I do like the loser sleeves 3/5

Saturn Girl Well you cant really change a classic. The cape is interesting and if she still has the ice queen stand offish personality then wrapping her self in a cape to keep others out would make sense.

Lastly the girl in Green? Is it Shrinking Violet? We have been told that some legionnaires never see her? So why is she on the splash page? Maybe this is a red (or green) herring, In fact could this be a re imagined Chlorophyll Kid?

So all in all I like the upgraded costumes, they look good, they are not all the same centre band design, they echo without slavishly copying the past.

I think this is going to be one of the best looking Legions for a long time.

just a note.. Barry confirmed this was Violet on a seperate post. He said the stylized black triagle pointing down says something to her powers and that her hair is long and pulled back in the spash page..just an FYI!

Thanks Imsk, I like Vi in Green best so am pleased to see her back in this colour. Mind you I was also partial to the mini skirt as well. Totally impractical for crime fighting I know, but still looked good on her.
