I've looked for them there... as that is where I saw most of season one. I haven't been able to find them... do you have a link?

Hmm... they may not be at Cartoon Network anymore. They're available for download at "Starwars.com" if you sign up as a member (I think it's free).

[Director Lad] {[...] Keep in mind that at this point, 20th Century Fox is just the distributor. They don't, to my knowledge, have any ownership stake in the property. }
Fox didn't even hold copyright to any of it -- a mere formality, really, since Lucas has, from the beginning, owned the characters and all of the merchandising rights. (These were given to him as a throwaway to keep him happy when Fox agreed to distribute the first movie. Big mistake!)
With one exception, that is: Fox held the copyright to the original version of the first movie. Everything since has been held by Lucasfilm Limited. The "special editions" were created, in part, so that Lucasfilm could hold copyright to the first movie. That is why you'll never again see Han shooting Greedo first -- yes, the only action consistent with Han's persona -- unless you have a VHS tape of the first version of the first movie, as I do.
(I'm calling it the "first movie," because that's what it was. I was there in the theater in 1977. It didn't, originally, have "Episode IV: A New Hope" at the top of The Crawl.)
I'm going to do with Epidoze* 3 what I did with 1 and 2, and go to see it once, at a matinee -- to take in the effects work and sound, and out of morbid curiosity about the plot Lucas is cooking. After that, though, I couldn't care less, and again as with 1 and 2, I don't plan to bother to either buy a copy or watch it again on pay cable.
I was profoundly bored, with 1 and 2, and didn't get any of the spark that came from the original trilogy. The absence of the Lovable Rogue makes all the difference. Chalk me up as a Ford partisan, if you must, but he was the necessary acting counterweight to the enthusiastic but far more shallow work of Hamill and Fisher. (Guinness and Jones had less such influence, but they provided the foundation for the later generation's acting to play against the adeptly recycled Western-in-space plots.)
Episodes 1 and 2 -- and soon, 3 -- are fan-bait and fill-in-merchandising-holes resources, far more than evocative plots or iconic character settings. I didn't expect much from them, I still don't, and I've had no high hopes that could risk a crash. And I'm guarding my original-release original-trilogy tapes with my (esthetic) life. --- * That's a typo that qualifies as a Freudian slip, and I let it stay. I nearly dozed off during Episode 1. Meesa think Lucas sell out, that not keep interest long.

i 'm probably going to regret say this but folks,..it just a movie ok? I've read a lot of old interviews in which Lucas stated that the whole trilogy was his homage to the old Saturday serials that he use to watch in the movie theaters back when he was a kid, i hate to refer to William shatners' "get a life" skit from SNL but i feel that a lot of us star wars fans have put the 1st trilogy arch on such high regard that everything that has followed just doesn't measure up in their collective eyes. can this be remedied? i don't know. remember Lucas only directed the 1st film in the 1st trilogy arch, maybe he should've followed the same formula with this trilogy arch by having other directors direct ep 2&3, but he decided or wanted to have complete creative and directive control of this arch so for better or worse this is his version or vision of how he wants the story to progress. (for good or bad) to semi-quote what Shatner said "have we all taken something that was nothing more than escapists fantasy and turned it into a colossal waste of time?" i don't know and wont begin to speculate but after reading this thread and others like it from around the web everybody seems to have their own opinions on how or what should be done or point out inconsistencies in the last two films and we have to face fact that George Lucas is going to do it his way.(and that opinion are like @ssholes etc..) so those of you out there that are belly-aching about how bad the 1st two films were and giving their two cents worth and speculations on what or how events in ep3 will turn out. its escapist fantasy at its best or worst thats all it is. take it with a grain of salt folks, if you aren't satisfied with how ep3 turns out hey, theres always the Expanded Universes with all the NJO books and tons of fanfic sites that will hopefully fill the void that this last trilogy arch has left in the heart of those of you out there. so in closing we all should just Get a Life !!!! now l.e.g.i.o.nJOHN runs for cover to avoid retalitory responces duck & cover!!!!

I don't think anybody's lost sight of what Star Wars is around this message board. This thread goes to prove it. It was started almost a month ago and is still on it's second page (well this response actually started the third page). Nobody has taken it so serious that the Get a Life line needs to be thrown out.
Everything presented has been pretty matter of fact with some enthusiasm. I know I am looking forward to the release of Episode III. I'm expecting some great Lightsaber battles which I consider to be the best parts of Eps I and II.
Part of having a life is discussing ideas with other people. It seems that everybody who has contributed to this thread has an interest in the topic. Some may have become disillusioned with it, but I don't see anywhere in this thread where enthusiasm or disillusionment has gone over the top.
The purpose of the thread is for speculation about Episode III. All input is welcome, but I don't see a need to stifle the discussion with "Get a Life".
So l.e.g.i.o.n.John you have weighed in on the thread here but you have not really discussed the purpose for which the thread was started... Do you have any opinions or ideas on how to make Episode 3 an "adequate" bridge between the prequels and the original trilogy?
On a side note...Have you read any of the EU or NJO books? I've read just about everything in the timeline upto and including the Jedi Academy trilogy; and I have read all the Zahn novels and Vector Prime. What do you think the chances are of the NJO novels being made into movies?

The purpose of the thread is for speculation about Episode III. All input is welcome, but I don't see a need to stifle the discussion with "Get a Life". ah yes speculation,...well as this thread has shown there is an abundance of it here and everywhere on the net, now i'm not knocking anyone but speculations are like rectums, and we can speculate till the cows come home, but with a year to go till ep3's release i've some-what grown slightly tired of it all and again if i've "unfairly" lumped this thread into my jaded ramblings i couldn't help it, you get caught up in the moment, and sometimes i suffer from "Hoof-n-Mouth"desease. (or the internet version of it whatever it may be?) l.e.g.i.o.n.John you have weighed in on the thread here but you have not really discussed the purpose for which the thread was started... Do you have any opinions or ideas on how to make Episode 3 an "adequate" bridge between the prequels and the original trilogy? yes i do but i've grown tired of it all so i'm refraining from giving my opinion On a side note...Have you read any of the EU or NJO books? I've read just about everything in the timeline upto and including the Jedi Academy trilogy; and I have read all the Zahn novels and Vector Prime. What do you think the chances are of the NJO novels being made into movies? yes i have from both the trilogies written by Zhan, the Anderson books, the Young Jedi books by Peter David, the darkhorse comics, (except for the "Freedom nadd uprising" ) *and i'm still slightly put off that Mara Jade married Luke instead of hooking up with Lando*and i'm into the 2nd book of the NJO. and as per your question sure i would love it if the NJO books were made. into films but for that to happen he would have to do what Gene Roddenberry (before he died) with ST:TNG and turn some but not all creative control to someone he can trust(Lucas' been quoted as saying that it takes him a great dael of time to finish these trilogies and he'd like to persue other interests and not be tied down trying to complete another set of movies) to expand EU and preserve whatever essence of Star Wars so that to the fans it never loses its way to entertain and excite.

You've used "assholes" and "rectums" to dismiss any value to this discussion, even with your taking part yourself. I'd respect what you write more if you used less scatology. And more capital letters. (Yes, those points are somewhat snarky. They're also true.)

I agree with minesurfer that the discussion here doesn't seem to warrant the "get a life" comment. I don't spend any time thinking about "Star Wars" aside from the comments I read here and the reactions I post to them. I haven't read any of the books or looked at any other fan forums on the subject either. Maybe you are just jaded... (now if you were calling us out about the time we spend on the Legion, then you might have a point )

I'm thinking that another interesting moment that should see air time in the movie is the point at which Yoda either suspects or discovers who the actual Sith leader is, that could make for a great "force" battle too. Or if you have one of the "lesser" Jedi figure it out first and the Sith try hunting them down before they can report back to the council.

Yeah, I can't wait for that scene (they *have* to show it). The transition to "Empire" is going to be one of the coolest parts of III, IMO.

Things I can't wait for in Episode 3:
A big battle where Artoo gets his little flight rockets cut in two. Cue to Threepio's next line. "Oh, Artoo! Your poor foot-rockets! Now you'll never fly again!"
Palpatine takes Tarkin aside: "You know, Tarkin, you're a pretty good Moff, but you're no GRAND Moff."
The last line of the movie, delivered by Obi-Wan. "That's it. There's no hope."

So, I guess this thread can now be renamed the "Revenge of the Sith" thread. Not a bad name, nice parallel to "Return of the Jedi."

I wonder had the old "Revenge of the Jedi" title held up if we would be hearing about "Return of the Sith" now.

I think it worked out for the best. "Return" sounds better because of the double-meaning "Jedi" in the title can refer to Luke or the Jedi (plural) returning. It's a much more optimistic title as befitting the film. "Revenge" works better as motivation of the Sith since it's a dark emotion.

With the release of the Trailer, I thought it appropriate to bump this thread.

Jedi, being supposedly free of emotion, shouldn't be taking vengeance on anyone, so the 'Return of the Jedi' title is more apt, I feel. PS "Get a Life"? Bah. Why are you people always talking about this 'Legion' comic? You should all Get A Life (TM).

I'm looking forward to it at least. I never did see the 1st trailer thinks to my crappy computer at home and my non-quicktime having work PC. Bah!
When's the release date anyway?

May 5th I believe, but I'd have to double check that. I just got the prequal book today which is why this thread came to mind.

Just checked the official starwars.com site... the opening day is set for May 19th. I'm facing sort of a dilema here too. The book comes out in April... since I'm a reader of just about all the Star Wars pre-New Jedi Order books, I don't know if I should read the book and spoil the movie, or see the movie and spoil the book.

I'd wait for the movie. I will be at any rate. The book may or may not follow the film exactly since they usually don't have a final edit of the movie to work from, so you might be waiting for a scene or moment that doesn't make it on-screen.

I'll be avoiding spoilers as much as possible. And I can't wait after the trailer. Yes, I know I will be disappointed. But hey, like the man said, it's only a movie (this from a guy who was six when he saw Star Wars in the theater--and who believed in the Force to the extent that I used to try to lift things with it)!
