so after about a 14 year gap, this sequel finally arrives !!

this is out in the UK next week [ when is the US date !? ]

i actually really liked the first one, and i thought Sharon Stone was great as Catherine Tramell !!

i love that knowing smirk that she had in most films, and the arrest scene is still a classic !!

i just know this one, is gonna be bad !! and i don't actually like that it's set in LONDON !!??

so who thinks that we'll see another flash !!??

Matthew.

I just saw an ad for this on TV, and it is being released here in the States on March 31.

Oh, and to clarify, there is another scene like the police interrogation, but you can't see anything due to Sharon's strategically placed walker! lol lol

Was there anything more to the original than the blink-and-you -miss-it m!nge scene?

And do we really want to watch a whole film for the possibility of a 14 year older Sharon Stone granting us a similar view.

Considering what stars get up to these days - Halle Berry getting nekkid and sh*gging Billy-Bob desperately, the whole of the film 9 Days, apparently (I have been told it's a crap film, but some serious sex).

Do you think she's doing it for the money?

For what it's worth, I think Halle Berry shagged Billy Bob for the ligitimacy of having a quality indie under her belt. The two seconds of extremely boring nudity she did in "Swordfish" was her cashing out.

Either way, does anyone think "BI2" as anything other than a has-been actress trying desparately to cahs in on her past fame?

Poor Sharon. Some weird choices of film, for sure.

I liked the original BI, especially the lesbianism and drugs and club scene!

And then SLIVER, which was actually better than the book but should have been MUCH better. Didn't come off as sexy enough.

I actually saw DIABOLIQUE in the theatre, a rarity for me. I remember thinking it was alright, nothing special though.

Didn't even bother to see INTERSECTION.

Only saw SPHERE because a guy I was seeing at the time stole a bunch of VCR tapes from a Video rental place he worked at and left them at my house (what can I say, I like 'em classy). I wish he had stolen more good movies (FRIDAY was the best one he took!)

Too bad she never capitalized on working with DeNiro and Scorcese in "Casino"

Btw, she was also pretty bad with Stallone in "The Specialist" but I thought she was pretty good in "The Quick and the Dead" opposite Hackman, DiCaprio and Crowe.

I only watched Sphere because there's a Huey Lewis cameo... he's the helicopter pilot that flies Hoffman out to the site in the opening scene. I'm a huge Huey fan, even 25 years later.

And actually, Sharon's resume of films isn't that awe-inspiring. I heard about the orge in BI2, but I just don't care. She's not got a date with "Oscar" anytime soon...

No way, no how. The first film was stylish, arch, oil and water casting (Douglas and Stone), showed a vulnerability for Tramell which from all reports is gone here. San Francisco was gorgeous. George Dzundza was Douglas's perfect partner. Jeanne Tripplehorn did an impossible role with adeptness. Jerry Goldsmith (RIP) did one of his best scores.

You ain't gonna top that with a sequel at this remove. The best way to cut one's losses is to avoid such a doomed project. I can't see the point. Stone can get other roles and has acquitted herself well in many of them, such as "The Quick and the Dead."

Not worth hauling my bones even to the DVD store in four months.

R.I.P. Bill Hicks. I wonder what his Quick Capsule Review of Basic Instinct II would have been. wink
For those unfamiliar with the great man, here's some words of wisdom from around the time of the first movie: this bit starts with an exhortation to marketers and advertisers to kill themselves, and moves onto test audiences.
And then, some comments on Basic Instinct. I've taken the liberty to replace one particular word in the bit with the more Legion-friendly 'Sprock'. smile

. Thank you! That's all it was, by the way. Don't get caught up in the phoney hysteria surrounding this Piece-of-Sprock film.
"Was it too sexist or what about the lesbian connot-" D-d-d-d-n-n-n-no you're way off base. You've forgotten how to percieve correctly. Take a deep breath.... Watch it again... "Hey, it's a Piece-of-Sprock!" Exactly. That's all it ever was, was a Piece-of-Sprock. I just had to say that and clear it up, this phoney hype around this Piece-of-Sprock film drove me crazy.
Anyway, after I saw it about eight times...

I forgot about both CASINO and THE QUICK AND THE DEAD, they were both good (I liked TQ&TD better).

So really, Sharon's had some decent picks and some real crappy ones.

I admit going through a Sharon Stone fanboy stage after BI (and SLIVER) came out.

Even bought her pre-BI movie SCISSORS. *Very* craptacular.
