The Bentham thing is actually pretty funny, if they're going to be hauling his dead body around, since one of the things Bentham is most famous for is the fact that his body has been preserved at Universy College London and is regularly hauled out for College meetings.
Other than that, it's a bit of an odd choice, since Locke and Bentham were in many ways polar opposites in terms of their political theories.

Maybe it suggests Locke goes through a major change during the three years since Jack & co. left the island (even if on the island it was only a few months) and in some ways his new thinking when he went and visited Walt contradicts his old? Its possible (and purely speculative, though given the nature of this who, it very much could be a clue).
Matt, I also thought "see you in another lifetime brother" was the best line of the finale. Sawyer two weeks ago saying "you don't get to die alone," was also good. I mean, hell, we've all been watching this show for almost half a decade--its cool to see little nuggest like that!
It would seem Michael is dead. What's cooler than ever is that we essentially have gotten more impilcations and hints about dead people on the island than we ever had before these last few episodes, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a mass of dead characters appear next season adn beyond, talking to Hurley, Locke, Walt and some others. So more Charlie (yay!), maybe more Michael (visiting Walt), more Eko (the one I'm most excited about) and more Libby (so we can finally get her story, as the creators promised).
Seeing Walt was great. This was the first time we've actually seen him since Season 2 and even then we hadn't seen much of him that entire season. Taller, older, deeper voice. I hadn't thought about Walt in quite awhile but when I saw him at last I was like "yeah, cool!"

Some other thoughts:
(1) First off, there's no doubt in my mind that the writer played us viewers with a 'bait and switch' to think it was Desmond who ends up in the casket. And it was pretty brillant--I kept waiting for something terrible to happen to him, especially becaues he's one of my favorites.
(2) the entire finale seemed to be getting the message across to Jack that "Locke was right". Especially once the helicopter crashed. And then with Locke in the casket, it kind of turned everything on its head once more: sure, Jack was wrong, but so was Locke. They both need to be right (just like its always been with this show).

On Good Morning America this morning, they played the alternate ending they had shot, one with Sawyer in the coffin and one with Desmond in the coffin. They just showed the very last few seconds of it, with the coffin reveal, so I don't know if they also filmed them with different dialogue leading up to the reveal.

i dont think people believed it might have been desmond, last season's flash forward regarding the funeral and how no one showed up for it, pretty much established that the person in the coffin was not a well liked character. I thought it might have been ben til he walked in.

Once I heard the name "Jeremy Bentham" I knew it had to be Locke in the coffin. Also, the fact that "Bentham" had been visiting them and talking about the need to go back to the Island. Only Locke would have done that.
For me, the most burning question is this. Did Locke visit Sun? Did Locke tell Sun about Ben's role in the explosion of the freighter? Is Sun trying to link up with Widmore to get revenge on Ben? Or is it a double-cross to take on Widmore?
I'm glad that Charlotte, Ghost-Guy and Maybe Faraday are still on the Island. They are way cool characters. Also, whatever else happens, seeing Penny and Desmond reuinted--wow. Constant, indeed.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

my question is why in last season's flashforward, when jack looked at the obiturary he started crying, why??? did he break down because of the realization that John was right? i dont know, just curious.

Well, he IS a druggie and a drunk at that point, LAB! Those don't exactly promote emotional stability. Seriously, we'll probably know more when Locke's visits to the 6 are shown in flashbacks next season. But obviously, Jack was the leader among the Losties, so leaving them all behind and apparently having heard bad things happen to them since has to be weighing on him. Maybe he's crying more about what Locke represents than for Locke himself.

Two thoughts:
1. Yemi's airplane probably got to the island through the same mechanism that put Ben (and I suspect Charlotte as well, earlier) in Tunisia. The plane was bringing drugs from Nigeria to Europe, they'd fly over Tunisia.
2. Hurley sees dead people, just like Miles. How long has this been going on? Could Dave be not an allucination, but a dead person (and thus the very real shoe)? Could the numbers have been put into his head this way?

And, if so again, where are the people on the raft? That's what I think happened to Jin. The explosion threw him into the water and he floated there until Daniel's raft pulled up. Could easily work. Michael on the other hand, I think is toast. Christian told him basically, "You can go now..." which sounded to me like the island said "You're done".

Yeah, I was disappointed and skeptical about Michael at first but now I can see the beauty in his death scene. He got a measure of redemption for his sins while still paying the price for them. I really would've like to have seen him used more, though. I've a feeling that a good bit of his storyline was a casualty of the strike-shortened season.

the guy who plays michael has joined a sitcom as a reguler cast meember. Takes place in a precinct, and he plays a paranoid cop who wont take off his bullet proof vest for fear of being killed.
