I don't know if Ben's anymore knowledgable than the rest of us on what the monster is. But I do think he has a means of caging it. He released the monster, but then advised the Survivors to run. He can't control it per se, just unleash it, otherwise he could have stayed to watch it attack the gunmen.

Phenominal episode so far. Really excellent, every minute hitting a beat.

For me, Sayid and Nadia's reunion might be the most emotional moment yet of the season, even more than Desmond and Penny. I love their love story too, and it was so powerful to see Sayid realize she was there and then see her.

108th day rescued--I think we all called that back in Season 2 laugh

103rd day a tidal wave washed a boat to shore. Would that fit into the Tsunami of 2004? It probably does...

Really great stuff so far. Sawyer's line to Jack felt very 'right'. "You're not gonna die alone". The more things change, the more they reflect the central characters of Lost and all they've been through...

And at episode's end, it was even better than I thought at first. It all feels like its coming together, and like most season finales for Lost, everyone has a part to play.

So much good that I don't think I can even begin to get into details.

That was pretty much fantastic!

I'm really afraid at how many redshirts are going to die when the freighter explodes, however...

And even worse whether any major characters will...

It's enjoyable to see the Oceanic Six scattered all over, knowing they have to some how come together. And they do, apparently, next week. That has interesting implications for the next 2 seasons, if this season ends with Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun and Sayid getting "rescued."

There were so many fine moments in this episode. Jack meeting Claire's mum and realizing, only when it is too late, that Claire is his sister, Aaron his nephew, and he can't tell anyone about it! Sun buying her father's company out from under him was fantastic! I really like Sun, and now I like her even more. I'm also beginning to wonder if Jin is really dead after all. I have somehow missed every episode with any mention of Nadia, so it was cool to finally see her. Too bad about what happens...The flash forwards here had real energy and momentum, which some of the earlier ones lacked. And Michelle Forbes to boot. Wow!

I have one point that's bothering me. I am lucky enough to watch Lost in high def, and I gotta tell you, Cheech Marin and Veronica Hamel look like such plastic surgery victims! You can argue that nip/tuck look fits their characters (LA surgeon's wife, Lottery winner), but they look horrible! It's so painful. I had such a huge crush on Hamel when she was on Hill Street Blues. Now she looks like that Lion Lady trainwreck.

My prediction: Sayid and Kate, Jack and Sawyer, Locke and Hurley are all out in the jungle. Eventually, at least the four who are part of the O6 will make it to the freighter by helicopter, which re-unites them with Sun and Aaron. By that time, the boat is back to the freighter. Somehow the O6 make it onto the boat when the freighter blows up? And somehow get rescued?

Manoman, even with this show all over the place, touching on every character, we still get some great moments from everyone. Is this the first episode without a dedicated POV?

Sayid finally gets his gal. That's the most rewarding pay off for me out of the entire show. And after bringing the zodiac to the island, he goes off to find Jack. He's my hero. Until Alpert kills him.

Sun is amazing. She has some truly amazing moments, and they've got the right actress to pull them off. She goes from touching moment with Jin, to horrified, motherly concern on the freighter, to putting her father in his place.

Sawyer and Jack- brothers in arms. Kate and Hurley, burdened more than they should be. This is why this show is so damn good.

I really enjoyed the scene with Claire's mom and Jack a lot. I think Fox did an excellent job with his expressions in that scene. You could see how Claire's mom would interpret them one way and we would interpret them another. I liked seeing that she made it out of the coma when it looked like she was a vegetable last we saw. And her 'cute baby' comment as she left--heartbreaking.

A lot of people seem to think that Claire being with Christian in Jacob's cabin means she's dead, too. I dont know what to think, personally.

Well she mentioned having a headache (concussion?) They probably chose to end her story this way rather than some violent scene. She was never a mainstay of the action and violence once the baby was born.

Claire is ground zero for the "alive/dead" conundrum and the whole "foster child" theme of "Lost." Look at all the characters missing a parent, not raised by their biological parents, etc. Sawyer, Kate, Jack, Ben, Hurley, Claire, Aaron, Jin, Walt, Shannon, Boone, Sun's baby. Who on lost doesn't have parent issues? Then you have Juliet, whose profession is dedicated to "curing" childlessness, and the Island itself kills pregnant mothers and the fetuses!?!?!

It could be that Claire's most important story was to reunite with her father, and with him being dead, the Island is the only place she can do that. I'm particularly intrigued by Aaron's fate now. He was born on the Island, which I would think has to be important, somehow. The Island separates him from his biological mother, even though she is, by all counts, a fine parent. He ends up off the island with Kate, hardly the obvious choice for mom of the year. And, even though Jack seems the ideal foster dad (his uncle, Kate's lover), the Island tells him (via Charlie and Hurley) that he is not "meant" to raise Aaron!?!?!

Don't know if anyone has caught the commercials leading up to this Thursday's two hour event but they are repeating part one prior to the showing with extra footage. Could be some new clues.

OK, anyone not rewatching the first part of the finale, this is the missing scene so far:

At the press conference where they really 'become' the Oceanic 6, we see a few extra scenes. Someone asks Sayid if he is aware of what's happening in Iraq; Sayid says he has nothing left there and no intentions of going back. A few others.

The main thing: the 3 of the 8 who died (meaning there are now 5 of the original 8 + Aaron for the 6) are: Boone, Libby and Charlie. They say Boone died of internal bleeding, Charlie drowned (I actually missed the line of dialogue saying how, anyone catch it?) and Libby "didn't last a week".

Wow, that's a major bit of info! I can't believe they cut that out last week!

Jeremy Benthan . As with Locke, another philosopher name. Coincidence? On Lost? Yeah, right.

Walt shows up, and Jertmy Bentham visited him! I wonder if it's another member of our cast--not Michael, apparently.

I hope it's not who I think it is.

"Checkmate, Mr. Eko" - So Hurley first hears the whispers at his surprise party and by the time we get his episode (when Jack visits him), he's seeing Charlie. By now he's seeing all the ghosts and hearing the whispers (re: the Island is communicating with him). That leaves open a ton of possibilities.

So much going on I don't have time to post during commercials laugh

I'm still trying to process the Freighter exploding...

Yeah, the commercial breaks are short!

Is Jin dead? Seems like flashforward Sun doesn't think so, maybe?

And I'm not feeling any better about who Bentham might be...

A real lot to take in. A real real lot. On the ending, I started to call it about five minutes before the reveal but I suspect most of us did. The question is, by bringing him back, will that bring him back to life?

I thought this was a great episode. Desmond & Penny's reunion. Sun's heartbreaking seperation from Jin. I can't help but feel Jin isn't dead. Sawyer & Juliet's quiet sadness over seeing the ship blow-up. The awesomeness of the Others once more. Sayid kicking Keemy's ass and Ben's ruthlessness and brillance. I better stop because I'm forgetting too many good parts.

All 5 of the adult Oceanic 6 really shined.

"See you in another life, brother." I loved it. I was much more scared when Des and Penny finally reunited than at any other time. It's too good to be true, not a happy ending exactly but having any one on the show win out is refreshing. Put me in the Jin maybe isn't dead camp.

Is Charlotte Ben's childhood friend Annie? What happened to Daniel and the others on the small boat?

I loved Miles and Rose's scene. Locke? Eh, I am not really shook up over that one, although I had just been thinking before the end that this finale was actually making me like Locke more than I had in years.

I have serious doubts that anyone is dead. The questions is what is the narrative structure for next season going to be? Start off with them getting to the island and have "what happened while the Oceanic 6 were gone?" flashbacks?

A great episode--but not as many revelations as I would have liked. And what's the deal with Ben and the Narnia wheel in the cave? I like it better when they talked about antimatter.

In case anyone's wondering, I was really afraid Desmond was going to be in the coffin, up until Ben and Jack started talking. Then I figured it out.

I liked that there was more to the scene that ended Season Three for starters.

I wonder if Aaron and Desmond have to also return. Aaron especially, considering Kate's dream.

A lot's left up in the air as to several character's fates, particularly Jin and Michael being dead or alive and the whereabouts of Faraday and the others on the raft.

Michael could certainly be dead given Christian's appearance to him and the implications of when he said "now you can go". This would seem to refer to how the island wouldn't let Michael kill himself. Lostpedia's even referring to Michael as dead in Michael's entry. I hope he's not as I really didn't feel it was an appropriate exit after going through all that trouble to bring him back. We'll see.

Also, if Jin isn't dead, where is he? It's doubtful that he could have made it back to the island before it disappeared. Could Faraday have found him on his raft? And, if so again, where are the people on the raft?
