No. But this week's episode looks awesome, based on the sneak peeks on ABC's website.

Wish I still had the Sayid episode. I swear they said it in the coming attraction again. Caroline remembers it too.

Also during this week's show is the premier of a new Iron Man trailer.

So I'm rewatching Season's 1-3 and basically only have the last three episodes of Season 3 to go before I'm done (Lady Cobalt just got the best two week crash course in Lost history). Rewatching Season 3 opens up the whole theory that the Monster is actually all of the odd ghosts/visions/deads people/odd things appearing in the series throughout, which we discussed at length in the last Lost thread. After the Eko episode (where he dies) the theory actually really does seem pretty likely, given what Yemi says to Eko. However, this might not be entirely correct. I suspect we won't find out for some time.

But anyone want to help me figure out a list of varoius 'things/people' that have been seen on the island that don't belong? I'm thinking:
- Jack's Dad, Christan Sheperd
- Yemi, Eko's brother
- Kate's horse
- Dave, Hurley's "made-up friend"
- Sayid's cat - though this may not fit entirely, since Mikhail essentially owned that cat
- Ben's mother - though Ben's mother actually appeared in the window at the Dharma station when it shouldn't have been able to get inside the barracks

Any others?

The last podcast that Lost put out on the net (have all of you seen them?) features Christian Sheperd and Vincent (the dog) just after the crash minutes before Jack wakes up. Its a cool, creepy scene, implying that (1) Christian is on the island (we never did see where his body went) or (2) the monster has taken the form of Christian by being able to read Jack's thoughts (or some form of being able to do that).

The map Locke sees drawn by Razinski and Kelvin reveals a lot of other information on the Monster too, showing points on the island where it can travel and even giving it a name ("Cerebus" as well as some other designation I'd have to look up).

Yeah, I'm almost positive I heard them say that too.

Walt.

The Christian/Vincent mobisode is pretty awesome. One thing it eliminates is the theory that they are both manifestations of the monster/island/whatever.

Right. Vincent is definately not the monster (that's how I read it), but Christian may be.

Other info for you if you didn't know (confirmed):
(1) We will get a Danielle flashback eventually
(2) We will get to Libby’s story this season at some point.

I'm pretty excited about those two things! I would also love for a Monster episode or Vincent episode, which would be hella-kewl (or Richard Alpert). A Vincent episode revealing a major secret would be cool.

Another thing I'm wondering is how many of the initial 47 survivors we still don't have names for or know about. I'm sure the various Lost forums have great lists of that. It can't be that many now. I'd think no more than 15.

The Danielle flashback is probably the one I'm anticipating most. There's so much that could be done with it, from the story of what happened to her expedition, to what she was doing during her sixteen years on the island, to events since the 815ers arrived from her perspective. Heck, that could fill up three Danielle flashbacks right there.

Really great theory on the nature of time/space and the island, Desmond’s flashbacks and interactions with the Monk & woman at the Jewelry store, the nature of Libby in the series and other tidbits. I thought it might interest you Eryk, as you are the equivalent of all my friends to the Time Trapper.

Just a theory, one I'm not sold on yet, but an interesting read!

Yeah, there's several variations of the whole timeloop theory (and the whole "we're watching things as they occur the second time through" idea) floating around. I'm not really that enthusiastic about them. I bet we'll find out more on that front this week, though.

I think that we are dealing with two separate things here: the monster, and Jacob.

The monster is essentially a security system invented by the Dharma people. It is non-sentient, but it can be controlled.

Jacob, on the other hand, is a very real presence on the island. My crazy theory: the longer you are on the island, the more abilities you get. Jacob arrived on the Black whatever-it-is, the slave ship with the dynamite. He's been there forever, and so has by now very weird powers. He can, for example, inhabit corpses (did you notice that the figure shown in Jacob's cabin in Hurley's episode was Christian Sheppard?). I suspect that before Christian arrived he was some sort of spirit.

Anyway, Jacob is what we refer to as 'the island'. He can put images in people's heads, and move them to do things he wants them to do. To the list above (and I can't decide whether I think that Jack's vision of his father was really a vision or really Jacob-in-Christian), I'd add Shannon's, Sayid's and Locke's visions of Walt, Locke seeing Boone in the sweat lodge, and possibly Boone seeing Shannon being killed by the monster (this one may be hallucinogenic drugs, but the vision was certainly too convenient to be random). It also seems to me that Jacob is capable of puting visions in people very far away from the island, thus Hurley's visions of Charlie post-island.

Jacob also seems to have a rather odd view what makes people good or evil (something that strengthens my theory that he was born in the 17th century), and he certainly doesn't like what he sees as evil people. This is why he killed Mr Eko. In his view, the fact that he would not repent (which is what he told "Yemi" immediately before he was killed) made him 'irredimable', and thus he killed him by manipulating the monster.

I think that Jacob became disillusioned with Ben's rule over the Others over the years, and that he handpicked and manipulated all the Oceanic Flight passengers to be on that flight on that day.

Richard Alpert has probably been on that island who-knows-how-long, I bet that he can do pretty cool stuff. Desmond can do cool things (like seeing the future) in spite of having been there for much less time than the Others because he was 'changed' when the Swan imploded.

About the time-loop stuff I have no idea. Let's wait and see.

It sounds like Richard Alpert might be making an appearance this year thanks to, of all things, the strike. The actor was already busy during the original filming schedule but will have an opening now. I don't think they were going to get him otherwise.

Blown away again. Another great, great episode.

Desmond has been one of my favorites since his first appearance, but really since the finale of season two. For some reason, his love with Penny is one of my favorites in Lost and this was really great. There brief minute together was perfect--emotional and reassuring.

Faraday is by far my favorite of the freighter people (the other three not having much of a chance to be more than annoying so far). What a great character! An the actor really nails it each time.

Of course, the real story was the time travel stuff which was just awesome. At last we get some further explanation of all the time travel/time distortions/etc, and there's still much more to figure out.

Great tidbit with Widmore. Here's my analysis:
(1) Hanso family is in possession of the first mate's log from the Black Rock. This was probably purchased by Alvar Hanzo in the 60s'/70's so the Dharma Initiative could find the island. After all, the map revealed that Hanso's ancester was the captain of the Black Rock (further explaining the painting of the Black Rock, which was being sold).
(2) The Hanso family is selling both items, and I noticed it wasn't *Alvar* Hanso, so perhaps he has died?
(3) Widmore buys the log, perhaps in hopes to find out the destination of the island, or perhaps he later accidently learns of the destination of the island when he reads it? That would make him a prime suspect in the Freighter/"Bad Guys" (per Ben)/conspiracy group trying to get to the island.

I think we just got our first real bit of story/evidence about who this group is (whom Sayid later begins to kill).

I'm also more interested in the Hanso family than ever.

Lady Cobalt, who I just made watch all three seasons of Lost in February, knew full well how I would react to the Desmond/Penny scene and watched me the whole time. I got a little misty eyed. laugh

Desmond is absolutely my favorite character, and the "re-union" with Penny was so perfectly emotional! I was so worried that something bad was going to happen immediately after the phone shut off, however. I'm hoping he really makes it home to her.

I was totally thinking during the auction scene that the various people they flashed around to were the potential targets of Sayid later on.

I'm just a sucker for Desmond and Penny! I've gotten misty exactly three times watching Lost: when Sun found out who the father of her child is, when Charlie died and tonight during the phone call. (what took Penny so damn long to answer?!?!)

Desmond and Penny make such a great couple, and it is very heartwarming to know she's been searching for him all this time. Those two actors effing nail it!

One theory of mine shot down, though: I thought maybe more time had passed in the outside world than on the island due to the time distortions we've seen, but apparently not.

Definitely digging Faraday!

I love Desmond, too, EDE. I was afraid the way this episode started out that it might be a retread of his flashback/time distortion from last year, but it just got better and better! Desmond had been kind of a tertiary character in the first four episodes this season, but we certainly got a big payoff today!

They'd better let Desmond and Penny get back together (even if not until the series finale)!!!!!

I've been thinking for some time now that Desmond and Penny may some day end up being Adam and Eve in a weird time distortion thing. Of course, I guess there's other couples that could end up being that.

Like I said, Desmond is one of my faves, perhaps only overshadowed by Locke in that respect.

So... do you guys think that what's wrong with Desmond is the "sickness" from way back in season one?

Oooooooooh!

Good call Eryk! It makes total sense! Afterall, Rossaeu only said "it drove them all mad". So that might have been it!

*If* that's the case, it certainly makes the 'quarrantine' on the doors of the Dharma initiative hatches a red hearing and totally seperate thing which makes further sense, as we already know that was part of the trick of the Swan and the Pearl to keep them in those stations. Up until now, I've always thought they were the same thing, but couldn't figure out why it wasn't fitting. We essentially have the Dharma story figured out, by taking out Rosseau's group 16 years ago.

Great idea Eryk! That could totally be the sickness!
