I don't usually scream watching scary stuff. Infact my wife says she doesn't remember me ever screaming. When Hurley looked in that window I screamed.
The flash foward is very interesting. We know six of the Oceanic Six now. Over on Lostpedia they name all 6 if you guys are interested.
The guy asking Hurley questions freaked me out. So it seems many people stayed on the Island (and I'm sure many have died by then as well). The "six" seem to have made a pact to say nothing. Interesting. That flash foward has to be before Jack loses it. "I'm thinking of growing a beard".

I'm curious as to how Hurley ended up leaving if he was on the Locke side. Seems like the folks in that group were most likely to stay. Hurley did tell Jack in the ff that he wished he'd stayed on his side. He DID say that, right? And yet he's clearly troubled about the folks on the island, acting as if he might break his silence.
I liked Charlie's "ghostly" appearance. Seemed like he was mirroring Dave's role as Hurley's imaginary friend. IIRC, Dave slapped Hurley as well. So was it just Hurley's conscience/mental problem or Charlie's actual ghost or the island reaching out by taking a familiar form as it apparently has in the past so many times. Interesting that another patient apparently saw Charlie as well...
Good episode...and a lifejacket in a sea of boring winter TV.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Went to Lostpedia and got some break down. Matthew Abaddon the tall black haunting man that visits Hurley in the hospital? From Lostpedia... In Revelation 9:11, it is personified as Abaddon, "Angel of the Abyss". Has some more cool things about the word Abaddon. The letters H&O appear many times. H is the 8th letter of the alphabet and O the 15th. 815 "HO" is also the chemical element Holmium. Holmium has been used to create the strongest artificially-generated magnetic fields." Also regarding Naomi's sister? I got this feeling it's going to be a twin(same actress).

He's also a great actor, from "The Wire" on HBO. He does 'intense' very well.

Cracking good show. This is what "Lost" does best--offbeat, intriguing, deeply flawed and potentially dangerous characters in volatile situations. Every one of the Freighter Four (I'm copywriting that, btw) is more compelling than any of the characters they wasted time with last year, except Juliette. This episode had energy, movement, plot advancement, twists, mysteries, and a great ending. It carried us along to the end and left us wanting more. Awesome fun.
So, now for the mysteries:
1) We knew Ben had lots of truck with the outside world. Apparently enough for someone to want him, dead or alive? And he knew this and had a man on the inside? Wow. I love Ben. I hate him so much, I love him.
2) The FF and their backers knew enough about the island to connect it to Desmond and Penny as a cover story. Could Penny have inadvertantly given something away to these folks in her search for Desmond? Could the FF and their backers have known about Des all along? Has to be Widmore behind all that, somehow. Bastard.
3) While it may not have been their "top priority," the FF clearly knew that Oceanic 815 was probably on that island? How did they come to that conclusion?
4) How the figg did an Island polar bear end up buried in Tunisia!?!?!?!
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

I'm guessing the FF are ultimately working for Dharma, since that's the most obvious candidate for who would want Ben.
They could conceivably know about Desmond if Kelvin was still in contact with Dharmaa.

Just awesome. So many layers and still so many questions to be answered.
The four character's introduction was a surprise and a welcome one. Just like the surprise Desmond episode of Season Two, it totally caught me off guard in the best way.
Do we know the black guy's name (who pretened to be working for Oceanic Airlines, but is the mouthpiece for the FF's backers)? I'd also suspect Widmore's involvement as it would explain how they could pretend to be Penny's ship.

I think the FF are working for the Hanso group personally. Same people who probably faked that crash video.
Cobie, his name is Matthew Abaddon. I posted some info about him above.

Other thoughts?
doublechinner, the polar boy in Tunisia was very exciting. I know time travel is involved but I thought they might be at the end of time...it seems the island may just be outside of time. Past/present/future all the same?!
Faraday is the name of an old school physicist who dealt with electro-magnetism and the way it affects light rays. Thus the character that was named after him makes a comment of how sunlight acts on the island.
Charlotte Staple Lewis: C.S. Lewis (Charles Staple)
Miles Straume = maelstrom
Lapidus? (the pilot) Well he's the guy from Lawnmower Man right? Can't really find anything significant about that name.
I know they usually name some characters after famous people.
Mikhail Bakunin (eyepatch guy) for instance named after a russian philosopher with some serious anarchist revolutionary thoughts.

Okay so we saw part of the plane on the beach in season 1, as well as the cockpit in the Pilot episode. We saw part of the tail in season 2 with the Tailies didn't we?
How much of the plane is underwater? That looked like most of the plane underwater. And the news story showed the "pilot", wouldn't he have been in the jungle?
Just spouting off.

Definite fake underwater crash. Did any of you guys play the Lost interactive game at www.FIND815.com? It was really cool, and it led to the "discovery" of the underwater wreckage! It took the whole month of January to play the game, following an ex-Oceanic airlines employee who gets a cryptic email from a "Maxwell Group" that starts him on his quest (his girlfriend was a stewardess on 815, and he's mourning her loss). This show keeps getting better. And I think Ben's "inside guy" on the freighter will be the person we heard on Naomi's sat phone, George (played by Fisher Stevens). So far we've only heard his voice, but I bet we'll see him before too long!

So who faked the crash?
The Others would want Oceanic found so no one comes poking around their island. Oceanic airlines is obviously a shady corporation.
And that photo of Ben Miles had... where was that taken?
Just spouting off.

Who faked the crash? My guess the Maxwell Group (Hanso Group?). Omni, I did play the game with my daughter. Got as far as the clue you had to go to ABC.com for. Kind of lost interest after that. It was a bit hard for us.

The Freighter Four have already been compared to the Fantastic Four over at the review at Entertainment Weekly.
Faraday is Reed. Strom is Johnny. Lewis is Sue and Lapadus is the Thing. I hadn't thought if that but it fits. Especially after Lewis got shot and had the Kevlar on underneath for protection, something Sue could do.
I like Strom. Lets call in the Ghostbusters. Michael is supposed to be coming back this season, I wonder if he wound up on the freighter himself...

I keep forgetting about Michael and Walt. Since we Michael is appearing later, it's probably Michael who has helped make the connection between Oceanic 815, Ben and the Island. In fact, as RTVU2 cannily suggests, Michael may be Ben's "man on that ship." It doesn't explain the Desmond/Penny cover story that Naomi had, though. The Desmond/Penny cover suggests a tie-in with Widmore and/or Hanso/DHARMA(who else would even have a clue where Desmond was?). The seeming expectation of Flight 815 involvement has to come from Michael and Walt.

You know I wonder if the FF were suppossed to be on the plane. if it's fate bringing them there...or themselves?
Lapidus was suppossed to pilot the plane. Faraday was crying when he saw news of the plane crash. Strom may have acquired the medium powers when the plane crashed. Lewis found the polar bear.

One thing I thought of during the premiere was that the whole question of whether the Oceanic Six would tell or not is somewhat similar to Ben telling Michael that he would never tell because that would require admitting what he had done. Did the O6 do something horrible to get off the island?
And I'm guessing the FF are still on the island (or dead) during the flashforwards, which explains the Abaddon guy visiting Hurley in the mental institution.

Just a thought...were Charlotte and Naomi in on their mission objective? Both encountered Ben and seemed unmoved. I know the likelihood is that both were hiding there reactions or those (probably subtle) reactions were left "off-camera".
It's less likely with Naomi and what her role appeared to be, but with Charlotte and the others, they may have had separate objectives given their different specialties--certainly, it's reasonable to say Ben's not the only objective here. Otherwise, they'd all be paramilitary types. Strom, for example, seems suited to communicate with Jacob, the Monster or the whispers/ghosts.
I would support Charlotte not knowing about Ben by how she tried to flee when sticking near Ben would've better suited her objective.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

What a fun episode tonight! I have loved Sayid from the first episode of Lost I saw, which was probably the episode where Anna Lucia wasted Shannon. "Is he a diplomat?" "No, he's a torturer." So Ben has a secret room and a secret life of international intrigue and mystery. Look out, Austin Powers! Wonder how Ben found time to do all that? He must have a means of transport off the island, other than the destroyed sub. I'll say it again, Ben is so awful, I love him! I love, man, Ben! Sawyer demonstrates a remarkable amount of both self-insight and honest communication here with Kate. He must not be feeling well. Who is R.G., who loves the dead Naomi? We have the first(?) confirmation of relativistic time effects related to the island. The projectile Dan has fired from the boat takes 31 extra minutes to reach him, presumably traveling a trajectory different from the one taken by the helicopters, which I imagine is also the one used by the sub and by Michael and Walt when they left the island. No coincidence then that the guy on the other end of the satellite phone is named Minkowski . Different paths to the island result in different proportions of travel through time versus space.

It was very cool doublechinner. Sayid has always been my favorite. Very cool flashfoward with him!
Some of the money in Ben's secret closet? Was it modern money? Is he time hopping as well as globe hopping? It might explain why he's aged so much?
DC, speaking of R.G. did the girl Sayid hooked up with also have the same bracelet? The only person that I can think of with the last name beggining with a G is Goodwin who is dead.
by the way the Whisper Transcripts are very scary. It's a whole other mystery and just really confuses things more.

This season is shaping up to be possibly the best season of Lost yet! Poor future Sayid!
I thought Sayid's girl was wearing the same bracelet as well!
