RE: The Teaser Trailer
The chills running up and down my spine will likely not stop for several hours.
I feel like that 11-year old boy again. In that dreadful year when my parents' marriage ended and my childhood fell apart, watching Marlon Brando, Glenn Ford, Chrisopher Reeve, Gene Hackman and Margot Kidder bring the world's greatest hero to LIFE was a genuine balm to my soul.
I feel that way again. The Alex Ross-like image of Superman rising into the sky at sunset, listening, listening, then streaking into action. The image of an exuberant boy discovering his extraordinary powers in a lonely Kansas wheatfield under a perfect blue sky. The image of jaded, urbane Metropolitans, stopped in their tracks and staring into the heavens, seeing a hope they thought gone forever. The power and majesty of John William's Krypton theme. And the voice of Marlon Brando: "They can be a great people, Kal-El, if they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all -- their capacity for good -- I have sent them you, my only son."
I am completely delighted to go way out on a limb here and predict this will be the greatest superhero movie of all time. All time. And right now, in this dim and dismal time for my once-great country, I really need a light to show the way.
