For those who haven't made it on yet (I think Pete is the only one missing), we had to disband the TF because Grev got kicked while exemplared and it kicked him from the TF. We talked it over and decided that since we had such an easy time with the first half we would just start over again and work on cape/costume missions for Andrew and Mysa. We'll start up the TF again when everyone is logged in.

Heh.

That's always the way it works. laugh

Trick or treaters are a bit slower tonight than
usual ... I've even had about half a dozen who
didn't even wear costumes ... sheesh.

Just a quick update.

Got all the way through the cape mish and unfortunately stumbled unexpectedly onto a huge group around the time capsule. They all aggroed and we died.

Going to try it again now...

Sorry to hear that Vee. That sucks.

Blue, we've killed at least 6 Eochais now. They keep spawning 2 at a time.

I've gotten Marcie Johnson, my Peanuts character, all the badges now. That's the only one I'm going to worry about.

Got Garth the Hallow Spirit badge too.

I'm sure you'll have no problem getting rid of it. Take it to the office like I do. smile

We are still playing with the Peanuts in Galaxy.

Tas and Garth got all their Halloween badges! Thanks guys!

But we realized something. Out of all characters we should have been playing to earn Halloween badges it should have been the Buffy gang. frown

Oh, and Garth is only about 2 1/2 bubbles from 20 now and Tas is 1 1/2 from 19. Or maybe she's close to 20 too.

Okay, this really sucks. One of the things the devs are now working on is to do an auto afk. If you aren't active for 5 minutes (I think) you automatically go afk. Okay, no big deal. But if we are inactive for 15 minutes, no matter the reason, you will be autologged off. This is in test on the test server right now to be brought into production.

The devs see this as a way to stop powerlevelers who just leave their character logged in at a tram or something while other team members earn the points. Also to stop the server drag of people who leave their characters at the plaza with powers running constantly.

But what this really does is screw, again, TF's and missions. Especially TF's where someone is exemplared. If the player who exemplared another is autologged he won't be kicked from the TF. He can log back in. But when he's autologged off the hero who was exemplared is automaticallyed kicked off the TF, like what happened with Grev. Real nice.

Here we go, again, with devs wasting time trying to 'fix' what they see as cheats instead of dedicating time to fixing real issues or working on updates. It'll become a pissing contest betwee the players, who keep coming up with ways around the fixes, and the devs. Soon we won't get any updates to make game play more fun. It'll be constant 'cheat' patches.

Bet CoV would be ready to go already if they focused on it.

Just what is their sprockin' problem anyway!?

It won't stop the power levelers. All you'd have
to do is come by every 15 minutes and make your
character jump once and then you can go away
again ...

And why do they care about power levelers anyway?
From a game standpoint, it makes no difference
to anyone else how I leveled. It doesn't hurt
anyone else. If the people who are helping the
power leveler are having a good time then why
do the devs give a nass?

They're all just the equivalent of the kids at
the playground who'd take their ball and bat and
go home if the game wasn't played their way,
that's what they are!

Exactly -- the power levellers are still paying their $15 a month, so if that's how they like to play, why not let them play that way? Why risk alienating them AND all the innocent people these "fixes" hurt?

Didn't the devs ever go to elementary school? Didn't they hate it when the teacher kept the whole class from going to recess because a couple kids acted up? And didn't those kids keep finding new ways to make trouble anyway? This is the same thing, except in this case, the only thing the "troublemakers" may be hurting is the devs' pride.

If you go to the boards there's a vocal bunch who really, really hate powerlevelers. Personally, I don't get the big, it sounds boring as all [krunk] to me but if someone does it I don't hate them for it. Still, the devs get yelled about it a lot on the boards.

Perhaps we should test this... who has the test server set up? If we can play with it and then be able to give examples of why this doesn't work.

I think I remember Statesman saying, at one point, that he was going to make things more difficult for PLers by adjusting the spawns -- so that if you've got a group of three and one of them isn't contributing, you'll have a much harder time. I like that better, even if that's a tough balance to find and one that would hurt us often enough.

I have the test server finally working and I'm willing to play around with it to see if we can prove a point.

I really don't see how that would work, Lyle.
Is he going to base it on who's doing attacking
or damage points? Controllers don't do a lot of
damage compared to everyone else. They hold. An
empathy defender may not do one HP of damage to
the baddies, but a mission may be impossible
without them. So what's the criteria for deciding
who's contributing and who's not?

I really have to figure out how to put the test
server on. In a way, it'd be neat because I load
Blue over there and he could fight with the
Legion. 8-) We could team up various characters
from both Legions ... like a time travel mish.
8-)

I meant "not contributing" as standing in another part of the zone and doing nothing... my interpretation of what Statesman said was that he wanted the spawns to come at a difficulty so that a spawn for a group of three would be quite a challenge for a duo.

Of course, this is a delicate balance issue and would also throw off teams like us who don't PL (not for the sake of PLing, at least) but sometimes have people who have RL calling for ten or twenty minutes. That would be a bad penalty for casual gamers (who don't force each other to quit at every interruption).

I think the way to deal with PLers, if it's such a problem, it to set XP maximums for each creature... so if you're level 2 and you're on a team that's defeating level 35s, you get the kind of XP you'd get for a level 5. Does that make sense?
