It appears they've uploaded a patch (about 1.8M) so be ready to sit through a short delay before being able to log in.

Val Armorr is officially on the Infinity server! He is a scrapper with Martial Arts (what else?) and Super Reflexes. I got him up to level 4, but I seriously doubt if I will be able to get him close to TF levels by the time you guys start the positron. What level does that begin at anyway?

Something else else was seriously whack tonight. After Beauty and Princess left, we went to the Hollows to do the defeat gang leaders and get the bomb mish for Kara who's still an 11. There were only 4 of us. The first couple of gangs were standard for that mish... big, but manageable. Then we were running through the cave and not seeing anything ... and then a HUGE gang of trolls appeareed out of nowhere... right in front of me... they killed Kent and Kara and almost got Cadet Brannin and me. We somehow managed to live through that, and went onto the next part of the mish. At that point, there were just five of the trolls visible, and we went to work on them ... and suddenly the # of trolls doubled or tripled ... Kent and Cadet died again, but as Kara and I ran we found the mobs had spawned BEHIND us ... and were huge again... I died first, and then Kara went down as well. She said that by the time she got back to the main chamber they were so numerous she couldn't even run through them.
After we went to hospital, Cadet logged and the ladies and I decided to try to work off a little debt in Steel. That didn't go too badly at first, but I made the mistake of attacking some level 14 Vahz and Outcasts. I held them at first, but I was just running out of juice, so we were beating a retreat ... and I was killed AGAIN by some level 15 Vahz that came out of nowhere ... there was a back of about six embalmed abominations that came lumbering through as well.
After a few minutes, they finally got far enough away that Kent was able to rez me ... right around that time Querl showed up ... just in time for us to be attacked by a bunch of Outcasts who also seemed to come out of nowhere. At first they were just minions and I was doing all right with those, but then two more lietenants showed up ... Querl bit the big one this time.
Star was actually having to use propel and lift to do some damage to the baddies-- sucky controller damage, but bette rthan nothing. After we finally got those guys-- and Querl nearly died AGAIN-- Kent and I called it a night. Kara had already logged off.
Oh, I forgot to mention the lientenants were joined by another Mort that also apepared out of nowhere again.
I swear that the game was buggy and I'm wondering if it had to do with that patch they did today ... the spawns were coming out of nowhere, it seemed.
Made for a frustrating end to the night.

Which means, from a practical standpoint, it's 15-16 (regular or SK'd).

I tried out a new way to 'film' our adventures last night. So far, when I left for work this morning, the images I captured were coming in at about 10Gig worth. And that was just a very short duration. I'm going to turn the images into an .avi or something equivalent and see how they turned out when I get home. The one of the three I 'filmed' last night that I chose was where the cavern suddenly filled with trolls. Hopefully I captured their sudden appearance.

Anyone know what's up with CoH? Not only can you not launch it, their website is offline. Their ISP server maintenance was supposed to have ended over 2 hours ago.

This looks like the prelude to the next big event...
Ancient text responsible for threat to city? By Jackson Turner Times Staff
PARAGON CITY, Rhode Island, October 27?In his newest book, TheHammer of the World: Incantations from the Abyss (Winthrop University Press, 2004), Professor of Esoteric Anthropology Dr. Nathaniel A. Bierce writes, "The obsession with the fabled city of Oranbega (Norembega) notwithstanding, it was always Baron Zoria's secret and ruthless search for various tomes of occult power that drove his ambitions (and thus alienated him from his contemporaries--Crowley, Blavatsky, Westcott and Mathers). The prize he sought above all was the 10th century ?vulgate? translation of an Akkadian text, known as Malleus Mundi. Or The Hammer of the World.?
According to Dr. Bierce, Baron Zoria obtained the ?key? to this manuscript in the ruins of an obscure 13th century Templar castle in the south of France during the 1920?s. However, he needed the complete text to unlock the powers that would "bring the worlds under my control." The tome was rumored to belong to various occult teachers and mystics throughout the 18 th and 19 th centuries, but the last owner of the Malleus Mundi was, to quote Dr. Bierce, ?thought to have been none other than Zoria?s one-time mentor, Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin . Though there is some doubt as to whether they had ever actually met.?
M.A.G.I.?s own intelligence service and reports from heroes in the field indicate that the cult Zoria founded, known as the Circle of Thorns, seems to have managed a tenuous treaty with the Banished Pantheon and the Tsoo. In a recent phone interview with the Times, Dr. Bierce agreed with the
assessment and added, ?Some resources indicate that Zoria?s followers tracked down the text in early 2004 in the Lubyanka Museum?s special archive in Moscow. It was the capture of this same archive that was said to have been one of the objectives of Germany?s Operation Barbarossa during World War II. In fact, a secret unit of the German army, the Spezialwaffen Kommandotruppen, comprised of members of the occult-based Thule Society, was created specifically for this purpose. The archive, however, had been temporarily shipped to Siberia for safekeeping in the first weeks of the invasion.
In August 2004, according to Russian authorities, this entire archive was reported to be missing.
When asked if he thought that the Circle of Thorns had actually obtained the Malleus Mundi, Dr. Bierce said, ?It?s highly likely, though latest intelligence has reported turmoil within their axis of mystical groups. I wouldn?t be surprised if the 5th Column were somehow involved as well?given this group?s history with the search for the text.? Indeed, as late as last week, a high-ranking Tsoo lieutenant, captured in a recent raid on Talos Island, confirmed a falling out amongst the groups and said that a ?terrible, ancient weapon? was now in the hands of ?those who do not understand the devastating nature of what they possess.? The Tsoo lieutenant also told authorities that the recent Rularuu event had been ?merely a small experiment.? When asked what group he thought now possessed the text, Dr. Bierce said, ?I can only hope that it?s not the 5 th Column, or worse?the Banished Pantheon.?
With dire warnings steadily increasing, city authorities have called for vigilance. Mayor Morales, in his weekly radio broadcast, addressed the citizens of Paragon City. ?Be alert, but remain calm and go about your daily business. We are doing everything we can to protect this great city from any threat?no matter where it comes from.?

I can get to it okay now as well. And since Caroline hasn't responded to my e-mails I'm assuming she finally got logged in.

That's weird. I was at the site earlier this morning looking to see if these sudden spawaning problems were mentioned on the forums (didn't see anything), but I can't get on now either.
I noticed that a little bit (trolls aggroing from nowhere) when we were running around Skyway, but not to the extent you had it in the Hollows. Unlike any other zone, though, I have seen groups of trolls suddenly spawn as I'm running by in the Hollows, though, again, not in the massive numbers you encountered. I hope it's a bug they're working on. You should file a report when you're able to get back on.

Never mind. I'm OK now.
And that story sound ominous. Ooooh. I wonder if magic-basec characters will get special consideration. I'll have to play Princess P when the event is running.

I wonder if this is going to be Issue #3. Didn't they say it was coming out in Nov/Dec?

#3 is supposed to come out in December so it could be testing to get it ready.
As for getting Mysa into her new costume. Since some of us have an issue with Saturday and who knows what Sunday will bring yet how about an all-night tomorrow? I should be out of Hell, or work, by about 6:00 pm our time (Mountain) if anyone wants to try and finish up the TF then.

It depends on how much prep work I can get done for our party. (My hubby is working a graveyard shift (heh) Friday night til Saturday morning, so most of the work is now falling on me.) I'm willing if everyone else is available. It would probably be easier than trying to work around trick-or-treating and whatnot in the different timezones on Sunday.

Or even on Saturday. They've officially declared that trick or treaters are to go out on Saturday here. And we are expecting another big storm to hit either Saturday or Sunday with snow. So this weekend might be a little tricky to get everyone all together again.

Newsflash! Longtime CoH players will get top priority when they assign slots for beta testing CoV next year. Some details (but not important ones, such as dates) can be found here .

Well as long as they stick to the 12 month criteria and the CoV beta is at least a year after the initial launch date of CoH then I should get a slot. I was signed up on day one. However, I think this gives an unfair advantage to those who beta'd CoH. Especially if the CoV beta comes earlier than the anniversary of CoH.
