I'm at 720 MB with about 15 minutes to go. A 45 minute download for me. Once upon a time you could copy over the actual files from your CoH folder but I see that isn't an option anymore.

Well its slowed down (probably a lot of stress on their servers with the downloads) but its close. About another 10 minutes. I'll post here as soon as I figure out what's up.
I hope, though, that they aren't going to limit the Halloween special event to the test server. That's not fair to those with dialups. They couldn't get it downloaded before next Halloween.

I wonder if I should just copy a character over. Or if this is going to be worth it since the 'event' was scheduled to have taken place an hour ago now.

I'll be on Pinnacle with either Robin Flamebird or Dark Obsidion (or maybe Mystic fate or even Demon Angel ). Look for me if any of you decide to log into that server

SOAB! Like I guessed, by the time I got through the download and the half dozen file checks, the event was over. And the a**hole high level players (who weren't even supposed to be there, I'm talking 50th lvl characters) won't say anything. They just keep saying read the boards or wait until Halloween.
One person is saying, and I don't know if he's serious or not, that when you clicked on a door you got a trick (a monster attack) or a treat (a temp power or other special thing). And if this is what they are rolling out for Halloween it is only supposed to last an hour. Real fair play to me.

Wow it does look pretty cool.
I'm downloading my test server patch. I'll be on Pinnacle after that's done... look for Olivia Honey or Amethyst Amy

Got Mr. Bones up to 8 before we logged off. Took Mutation as his power and fully stocked him with 10's. So, this is my first Mutate using character. Does it pay to slot it with more than one? Should I put my next two slots there?

Hey, we weren't planning on working on the TF tomorrow night were we? I thought, maybe wrongly, that it had been decided to not do the TFs during the work week. I really doubt I'll be home in time or have enough time to make it worthwhile to work on the TF.

Well, Wednesdays have been tight for me anyway 'cause it's too hard not to watch Lost and I stop paying attention to the game. I'd still be willing to put what time I can towards the TF.
It's was good to get Ms Flowers/Honey running again, nice playing with everyone. If we don't TF, how 'bout a game on Victory or Liberty?

OK, with a vampire dressed like this, you can't tell me there isn't a gay man on the development team. This event looks really cool. I hope it lasts longer than an hour and/or there's some sort of warning so that those of us who have lives, Halloween parties, etc. can get a chance to attend.

I wonder if they'll have anything planned for Christmas? Maybe an Evil Santa and elves? Star's the only character I have who's near to getting mutate, Scott, so I don't know if it's worth slotting it with anything yet. Based on how much energy you burn when you rez someone using empathy, I'd guess that it takes a lot of juice so I'd be sure to slot it with an endurance reduction and also a recharge reduction.

Hey, guys, if we're not going to play on Virtue tonight why don't we play on Infinity since this is supposed to be Legion night?
I was talking to Grem last night and she is still getting bothered by tells when she plays Super Kara. *Grrrr* She said she'll still try to play her, but I've been trying to think of backup characters she could play ... and also someone she could make to join us on Virtue.
She wants to play a Scrapper, so I suggested that she play Night Girl as an invulnerable/ martial arts scrapper for Infinity if she decides not to play Super Kara any more. I think that for Virtue she could play Laurel Kent also as an invulnerable scrapper ... though maybe with more clothing. *G*
Does anyone else have any other suggestions? She's not all that familiar with the Legion so it should be someone who's fairly distinctive and easy for a non-fan to grasp.

Since she's getting so many tells with a female character why not have her do a male? I have a Karate Kid on Virtue that I never use and have thought of deleting so she could do him. I used to have Brin also but he's already gone and I think DM's Brin is on Infinity. There's also no Ultra Boy (that I know of) on Virtue.
As far as Infinity, she could also do Val or Jo over there or maybe even Chuck (Bouncing Boy) or Tenzil (Matter Eater Lad) as Scrappers. Either one would be lots of fun and I don't think anyone has done those. Or maybe one of the Subs. Chlorophyll Kid could be a scrapper since he can't grow plants.
That's all asuming she defintiely wants to do scrappers. There's lots of other options to do as controllers or defenders or blasters or tankers even.

Oh, and if we don't do the TF, I think we should do either Infinity or maybe even lower level heroes that never get played on Virtue. Good chance for everyone to meet SLK's really cool Blok (I could do Rokk or Quis or I Kid Lyle or Rond ...all of whom are between lvl 7-11 or even Quantum King who's still at lvl 2) and play some Legion characters we never get around to playing.

Yeah, I'd guess 20 mintues was to get to test it without, but unless they leave it going for a whole day a lot of people are going to be furious for missing out.
I wish we could get that witch's hat. I'd love to have a little June Moon running around. Couldn't be worse than that stupid rice paddy hat that I see far too often.

Perhaps she could team up with someone, plan their characters out in advance and play DUO DAMSEL (all caps so that one player can spell it D-U-zero)? Two characters identically costumed (hence the need to plan in advance) except one in purple and one in orange? That'd look pretty cool, especially if they end up staying close in battle.
If Grem's going to play a new character on Virtue I could join with Jade, even tho she's not a Legion character. (In hindsight I would've created her on Liberty since she's Cheetah inspired.)
Otherwise, on Infinity I have Queen Amethyst who is Legion related and is pretty new. At her level, tho, I may reroll her to get my isolator badge.

It's probably a case of sneaking in what he can. He was able to get in a leather harness for us, but no loincloth. In this case, he probably said, "Isn't this a striking look," but didn't bother informing his clueless straight colleagues, who were just glad to use more of the peek-a-boo Witchblade look, just what that lower strap would be attached to.

Grem did say that she wanted to do a female character ... and I kind of like her as a girl. Duo Damsel would be interesting, but I don't know of who else could play one with her. I've got Andrew and Xs Ive and I want to work on her some more. Did we decide on where we're going to be tonight? I need to work out and I'll be back after that. I'd really like for it to be Infinity because I want to work on getting Star up to mutate so for the future Positron TF -- are we going to do that one on Infinity? If we decide to play lower levels on Virtue, that would be okay too because I could play XS Ive. I think she'll be able to touch her teammates with the speed force at level 12 so I wouldn't mind working on her either.

Hey, I finally managed to get on to the test server. I figured the huge files that you have to download MUST be identical to the real game files so I went ahead and copied them into a new folder I labeled "CoHTest" Then I created the shortcut as instructed above and ran it. Guess what? It worked! In about 20 minutes it checked the files and downloaded some patches and then logged me in to the Training Room!
Of course, it appears to be no different than the regular game, although I'm sure there must be some differences to be found. At least I'll be able to participate in future test server events instead of missing out.
