So what's the deal with the TF? Are we restricting it to lvl 12 only? I've got Garth to 11 but if I can't play tonight (and there is only about 90 minutes I have left for that) then I won't get a chance to lvl him to 12. Isn't 11 high enough?

I SPROCKIN' GIVE UP!

Were we just cursed tonight to always be on the server that was nassed up? If this is what their first update does I don't want to be around when they launch City of Villains next year.

They can be lvl 11 or 12. Can't get admission into a Task Force with less than 11 and we want to keep from going past 12 so everyone is within 1 level of each other. You are already qualified at 11 so no need to worry (though 12 would be nice laugh )

We should get a list of those at 11 or 12 that will be available and interested.

So far, I know of the following:

Garth Ranzz (11)
Tasmia Mallor (12)
Shadow Lad (12)
Andrew Nolan (11)
Condo or Mysa (both 12)

Possible if they can reach lvl 11 by Sunday 1PM Eastern (since you can't join the TF after the group has started)

Saturn Lady (9/10 - not sure which)
Drakefire (9)
Porcupine Pete (7/8 I think)
Lar Gand (I think Lar's either 11 or 12 but I don't know if he's available on Sunday)

Please confirm the above so we know and add any others I may have missed.

Yeah, it seemed that the trouble just followed us around tonight. Too bad, the sewer mission was great with everyone involved.

Hopefully, we got it out of our system so we don't have a problem on Sunday!

Sorry, guys, but I don't think there's any way I'll be able to get Porcupine Pete ready to play by Sunday. Even ifI do, Sunday's not a good day to play. Right now Pete's just a couple bars short of Level 9. It's going to be slow until I can make some major upgrades - which just might happen before the summer ends!

That's too bad SLK, Pete was lots of fun to have in the group. Maybe you'll be ready for the next time we do a TF.

PS: Be sure to let us know if this changes by any chance!

You know, the more I think about it the more I wish there was some way to allow another registered player to have access to one of your characters ~ particularly in the case of TF missions. Perhaps by providing a "permission" option which can be turned on/off by the character's owner.

That would be cool. The characters exist on the servers, I think, so that should make it theoretically possible and not too hard. You should mention it on the message boards.

Don't forget -- task force at 1 p.m. EST Sunday. Meet near the trainer in Atlas Park. I got Saturn Lady levelled up, so she and Shadow Lad will be joining us. Vee, unless another blaster shows up, go ahead and play Condo.

Woo hoo!

Seymour, are we sure that we're better off with Condo (lvl 12) blaster than Mysa (lvl 12 defender with Healing / Rez and energy blast)? Remember Garth will be with us laugh

Just want to be sure we have the best group we can put together. In either case, I'll be sure to have both of them topped out on enhancements without going past lvl 12

15 minutes to the start of the TF. So why are you here reading this instead of logging on to CoH?

Well it was a fun attempt while it lasted. Vee, I hope your computer is okay since Condo never showed back up. Seymour, same to you. We missed have SL around but I hope your computer didn't get fried.

I haven't been on all week, mainly due to being too worn out from cleaning the house inside out. Wouldn't have mattered if I had gotten Drake up the proper level since our internet connection (and cable) has been out for most of the day... frown

Thanks, Scott. Mike never did find out what exactly was happening, but things seem to be up and running OK now.

At least I was able to get Shadow Lad up a level and get him a new power. It was tough to choose.

As for the ridiculous difficulty of the TF, here's what Mike heard back and his response to them:

RE: Positron Task Force.

When a team of 8 heroes at levels 11 and 12
get mobs of level 16 enemies, the heroes are
unable to **hit** the enemies, let alone kill
them, and the heroes die. And they die. And
they die again.

You should NOT advertise this one as being for
Levels 11-15 or whatever it is. Don't be
misleading and make players think that their
level 11 heroes will be able to complete this
task force when you know very well that they
will not. Make it levels 13-15. Level 11 and
12 heroes are unable to successfully navigate
this taskforce with mobs of solid purple enemies.
I have played several TFs previously (with
higher-leveled heroes) and never seen such a
ridiculously high gap in enemy-vs-player levels.

Nor have I EVER been so frustrated, nor felt so
misled, with the game that I am PAYING to play.

Condo finally did make it back after numerous failed attempts and a few "almosts". Wish I hadn't tried so hard at that point however. Got killed two times when I reconnected and immediately lost mapserve. Apparently you can die while frozen in place with no connection. Ended up with 1250 in debt without landing a punch, or even seeing anyone I could hit!

I did finally manage to get Condo out of Steel City but he'll have a tough time working off that debt!

Also wonder why the hospital in Steel City is located up north in an area infested with higher level baddies instead of down near the the yellow line train. If you get killed, you have to navigate through the entire city, running a gauntlet of baddies lining the streets & taking pot shots at you that "hit" you for 50-100 points each. Sheesh!!!

Fortunately, Condo had hover, so I was able to fly above them with his tail between his legs laugh

This is just a question out of curiosity. What type of conection do you use to play this game? I'm going to be moving later this month where I will have the possibility of getting a fster connection. I don't think I could afford a cable modem connection. Does anyone play just using a regular dial-up connection? I'd like to be able to play in the comfort of my own place without having to mooch off my buddy's computer on weekends.

SLK: I only have a dial-up connection & it plays just fine for me. (And you know how much time I spend there laugh ) CoH is designed to work with a 56K modem so you should be fine even if you don't get a high speed dsl connection.

I also don't think I've had any more (or less) trouble with lost mapserve connections than anyone else so I don't think the type of connection you use is the problem.

Hope you are able to get set up at home. I suspect we'll get to see Pete (& others) more often once you've moved. laugh

Hey Seymour: Any further word from the GMs about the Task Force? And are we going to attempt it again when we get everyone up in the 13-15 range? I would loved to get back there and kick some nass after what they did to us on Sunday laugh

Condo is now at lvl 13. After lots of "arrest" last night, he was finally able to pay off his debt as well. However, I think next time, it should definitely be Mysa that participates. We really needed a full healer along, although I'm not sure even that would have saved us against all those 16s!

Garth is still at 11. Haven't tried logging back in since the TF try on Sunday. It seems I have the worst luck, server-wise, when I try to play him.

Caroline ran into a group of players for married people the other day. Kind of fun knowing that we aren't the only couples playing the game. And the oldest among them is in his 60's which made Caroline feel better. I created a Tanker (only my second one) with a Western look. Still haven't 'met' my wife online though. laugh

Mike got an email requesting more information specific to our team, but I haven't heard what they did with it. But at least it sounds like the TF was messed up, and we won't have to deal with that in the future.

I definitely want to try again. TFs seem to be the most time-effective way of levelling. As far as levelling beforehand, I guess it depends on when we try again. I won't be able to play at all until August after this Thursday, and I don't know if I'll be able to get on this week.

Once everyone is in the 11-15 range, we can compensate a bit for any differences because we can SK. So if Condo and Tas hit 15 but Garth and Shadow Lad are at 12, they can be SKed up to 14. The key will be keeping things even.

Once Drakefire gets levelled up enough, by all means Mysa should join us. We do need the blaster firepower, though. I don't think we got a good example of how things will go.

Are you implying, sir, that Mysa angel doesn't have firepower! I'd be careful the next time you see her. She won't like that at all!

Mysa has firepower, but in a situation like we'll probably be in, she won't have time to use it -- she'll be too busy healing. After I did my snipe, I was barely using my other powers because I was just hitting heal as fast as I could.
