Not me, those numbers are bad news. I knew I should've already cancelled that subscription.

I guess Boone was who I was figuring on, though I halfway thought Michael might have got it. The bit with Jack performing the transfusion gave me a moment's pause that he might overdo it and die himself. In this case the twist was that there was no twist.

Well, at least maybe we'll see Boone in some theoretical future Shannon flashback. Is she the only regular without a flasback of her own? I know she was in the Boone ep but that's not quite the same.

I don't know if there is a Shannon episode planned but Boone will be back for the now two-hour finale. I've heard that it will be flashing back a lot to the flight.

Nah, it was Sayid's date that sealed Boone's fate for me... anytime Character A is in jeapordy and that character's inrequited love is very happy and isolated from news, Character A is dooooomed.

I'm trying to figure out Locke's motivations... how he interpreted the dream and why he acted upon it. Lots of possibilities.

Two big events, not a whole lot of plot advancement. One of my first thoughts after the crash was "What the hell are they going to do if someone is really injured or sick?" They sure did deal with it, in nearly nauseating form...Those screams after the leg was set...Married? Married! (16 Candles reference...) I really thought he was going to ditch her at the altar (does that ever really happen in real life? it happens every other week in TV world). Good job confounding expectations!

Locke saw Boone all covered in the blood in his dream. He had to know what that meant.

And maybe no plot development but we did get character development...

Jack's issues of letting go

Sun's new assertivness

Clarie's fear of being a mom

We also have Jin finally talking to Sun.

All the main characters had screen time expect for Locke who was busy with the hatch and Walt. I guess when no one thinks about him he just disappears like the polar bear. smile

We will get plenty of plot development when we get to the next new show and the finale...

Yes, but...

Was it a threat? Bring Boone to his death or I'll take your ability to walk away?

Was it a warning, one that Locke in his blind faith in the island, didn't see? (Meaning, that because the island told him it would happen Locke didn't think through and just made sure to facilitate the dream, not thinking the island could be issuing a warning to stay away from the plane.) Perhaps, too Locke didn't even think things through, blindly trusting the island to do the best thing, foolishly presuming the island is on his side after letting him walk.

Was it a series of conditions, did the dream mean that he had to lose his legs and lead Boone to his death to get the hatch to open?

The dream showed a bunch of images that came true and left a lot of potential interpretation available, it'll be interesting to find out how Locke interpreted it.

As far as plot development: I dunno. We did discover the drug-running plane from Nigeria and Boone did get that communication off before he took his tumble. And this week's ep, we had of course Boone's death and Claire's baby. Not to mention that light in the hatch coming on for Locke. Seems like lots of plot development to me!

Awww, shizzit. I'll miss this character. Actually, I'll miss his portrayer-- Ian Somerhalder (sp?)- I hope he gets cast in something soon.

His blue eyes photograph as completely compelling... and sometimes a little spooky.

But I do see that his death would touch the most islanders, maybe more than anyone else's other than Jack's would.

Those primitive attempts at emergency medicine were quite harrowing. They made me think about what men and women had to face for millenia... and made me wonder if Boone would've been easily saved in a modern facility. That knowledge'd eat Jack up a bit more, I'd bet.

I thought the birth scene was sort of anticlimactic-- it seemed tacked on to invoke the 'circle of life' thing. I've forgotten- was the baby a boy? Betcha it'll be named 'Boone'.

I think it might have been more realistic for the baby to die, too-- since infant mortality in this circumstance would be a *huge* percentage. But there's something 'special' in store for this baby, plot-wise I'm sure.

I wouldn't be surprised if we (or an islander, anyways) sees Boone again... eventually. The 'walking dead' haven't been broached in awhile, now.

Boone never really grabbed me as a character. His death seems the least emotional; other than Shannon, was anyone really attached to him? His friendship with Locke distanced him from most of the survivors.

It was cool to see Jack's tenacity finally brought to light, how he handles the loss will be interesting. Like everyone else, I was sure he was going to leave his fiance, and I still think he just wouldn't admit it. Boone's death is going to teach him about letting go.

Claire and the baby were rather pedantic. It was cool to see Sawyer step up without cracking wise. And Charlie waiting with Jin just made me laugh for some reason.

A good episode, with some great moments. I didn't catch much in the way of tie ins, but maybe I just need to watch it again.

And, they mentioned on the radio today that the finale is 3 hours now!

I also thought they'd announce the baby's name as Boone (they still might I guess).

Honestly, I thought Boone was the most disposable character possibly next to Jin. They should've had Ethan kill Charlie - that would've been a lot more powerful. Aside from killing Ethan, Charlie hasn't even done anything since then.

Well if you include Ethan don't you have to include the frenchwoman as well?

I really hope the writers have a beginning, a middle and an end, nothing sucks more than getting caught up in a storyline only to realize the writers are making it up as they go along and have no plausible idea how to wrap things up so that all the loose ends are accounted for (which is reminiscent of what happens everytime new writers take over the Legion, tongue )

Then of course if they do have it all mapped out, what happens when the storyline is done? That seems to be when things start to go stale.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. tongue

Read the latest Entertainment Weekly or the recap below. The writers/producers are interviewed and they talked about all your concerns. They know that they have to deliver something by season end but just because they answer some questions, dosen't mean all will be answered. We have to have something next season. smile

And they talked about shows like Twin Peaks and X-files, smiliar shows to Lost and what they have learned from them. No really dense mythology like x-files and no stupid pointless polt lines like Twin Peaks.

Basically, they see this more as a character driven show and all the other stuff is just icing on the cake (my words here.) So unless the creators and producers leave, I have no worries.

Early on, Jack found some skeletons and a pouch containing black-and-white rocks. Explain. ''The black-and-white stones have been a recurring theme in the show,'' says executive producer Damon Lindelof (e.g., Locke's favorite board game, backgammon, and the mysterious Black Rock). ''We know who those skeletons are, what their story was, and what they were doing with those stones. But that's a question we won't be answering this season.''

-- Sawyer's backstory intersects with the Jack and Shannon/Boone histories. Does his pre-island life converge with any or all of the others? ''No comment,'' says Lindelof. ''But we'll see, before the end of the season, why he popped up in Boone's flashback.''

- - Earlier this season, someone knocked out Sayid while he was trying to operate the plane's radio. Who did it, and why? ''You will find out within the next three original episodes, definitively,'' Lindelof says. ''They will find the person, and that person will confess to having done it.''

- - What's Locke's motive for keeping the hatch secret from the other castaways? ''His motive is revealed soon,'' says Lindelof. ''Everything Locke does he believes is in the best interest of everybody. That's all I'll say.''

- - Will Michael's raft set sail by season's end — and who will be on it? ''All I can say is, how much would it suck if it didn't set sail?'' asks Lindelof. ''Wouldn't you feel ripped off? I sure would! As to who is on it? Well, the roster ain't set. Yet.''

- - Charlie was hooked on heroin. Recently, Locke and Boone found heroin on a plane. Discuss. ''One of the things that has made Charlie's ability to kick the habit so easy is that he hasn't had any temptation,'' says Lindelof. ''Reintroducing temptation is part of our intent. The good news, for now, is that he doesn't know that the plane is out there.''

- - The lotto numbers: What the hell? ''Trying to find greater meaning in the numbers is the direction we are going to continue in for the rest of season 1,'' says Lindelof. ''Hurley doesn't know that the numbers are on the hatch — what happens when he finds out that the numbers are on the hatch should be interesting. Wouldn't you think?''

- - Jin worked for his brutish father-in-law; what exactly was his job title? ''He was the executive assistant in charge of finger breaking,'' jokes Lindelof. ''People always ask, 'What's Jin's problem?' There are a few missing pieces that will make it even clearer by season's end why he's acted the way he's acted.'' Source: Entertainment Weekly

- During an interview, Ian Somerhalder (Boone), the actor made a few revelations about the monster. He said something that can be resumed to: "You will see a piece of what it is during the 2-hour season finale, and it should clear up some questions" One other detail he let slip was that his character shows up one more time this season. I'm hoping it will be in a flashback, not as a corpse in a funeral scene. Source: Live with Regis and Kelly

04/08 - "That's not to say Boone is the only character who dies this season," Lindelof says. Source: USA Today

As far as the survivor count goes...

Hurley said there were 47 survivors, that was how he knew there was someone extra in the group, and that it was Ethan.

And if Ethan isn't part of the 47, than neither is the french woman. Also, Ethan alluded to the fact there were more people with him.

I'm starting to wonder why Sayid hasn't established a perimeter, staked out how far they've explored and where they know hazards to be.
