And here are the games I'm thinking will be good ones for this week. This week is kind of sparse compared to last week, actually. There is a good one tomorrow night (FSU at Wake Forest), but it's not super good, and I think one day for everyone to make picks is kind of pushing it. Anyways, here are my suggestions, if anyone else has any input, let me know!

TCU at Stanford
#11 Missouri at #6 Oklahoma
#1 LSU at #17 Kentucky
Louisville at #15 Cincinatti
Purdue at Michigan
Connecticut at Virginia
Georgia Tech at Miami
#19 Wisconsin at Penn State
#23 Auburn at Arkansas
Texas A&M at Texas Tech

Heh. Oops

Uh

did I get them right?

laugh

I'd be further ahead if you'd stop putting G-Tech games in the poll.

All right, I'll kick this week off:

TCU at Stanford: With the exhilirating win over USC in the rear-view mirror, can Stanford pick up another one at home over an underperforming TCU squad? Signs point to yes.

Winner - Stanford

#11 Missouri at #6 Oklahoma: I said last week that I thought Missouri would get exposed before the season was out, and since Oklahoma has already had their one obligatory Big 12 loss, there's very little doubt in my mind that they will run the table for the rest of the season.

Winner - Oklahoma

#1 LSU at #17 Kentucky: Kentucky might make this one at least slightly interesting, but that's about it. Though if people are looking for LSU to slip up the way USC did last week, this would be one to put your money on.

Winner - LSU

Louisville at #15 Cincinatti: Louisville might have some luck in a shootout with Cincinatti, if it comes to that. Other than that... just no. Cincinatti wins this one with good ball control and homefield advantage.

Winner - Cincinatti

Purdue at Michigan: Michigan continues their quest toward redemption of their woeful start with a Big 10 title and trip to the Rose Bowl. It will happen. We've seen it before.

Winner - Michigan

Connecticut at Virginia: This one is an enigma. UConn is 5-0 but have played absolutely nobody. Virginia is 5-1, with their only loss coming to a good Wyoming team. They bring a 3-0 ACC record over Duke, GT, and UNC. This is a fairly huge game for both teams. The winner will likely wind up ranked. I call it a tossup, but I'll support Cobie's team for the win.

Winner - Connecticut

Georgia Tech at Miami: Another tough one to call. GT has 3 ACC losses, but they're all to quality teams. They beat a Clemson team that seems to be in decline. On the other hand, Miami has a blowout loss to Oklahoma, a close loss to UNC, and a shellacking of A&M. Both come off of losses last week. I think Miami may come out fired up since FSU just lost to Wake Forest last night. Whoever wins this game goes a long way toward saving their season. Let's give it to the 'Canes.

Winner - Miami

#19 Wisconsin at Penn State: When is an upset not really an upset? When you're playing Wisconsin.

Winner - Penn State

#23 Auburn at Arkansas: I have no clue how this one is going to turn out. A lot depends on which Auburn team shows up. However, they seem to have momentum (for now.) And Houston Nutt is about to be run out of Fayetteville on a rail. I feel bad for McFadden.

Winner - Auburn

Texas A&M at Texas Tech: Think Texas A&M can beat the Red Raiders? If Miami hung 34 pts on A&M, TT will score 54 on 'em. Texas Tech is always a scoring machine.

Winner - Texas Tech

TCU at Stanford - I've also got to go with Stanford, coming off that big win. I'm rooting for them too.

#11 Missouri at #6 Oklahoma - Missouri may be good, but the Sooners are one of the best teams in college football. Oklahoma all the way. I'm hoping they can go undefeated the rest of the season, and I think they've got the talent to do it.

#1 LSU at #17 Kentucky - You're on the money Kippers that people will be looking for LSU to slip up this week. But I don't think Kentucky can beat them. LSU.

Louisville at #15 Cincinatti - I need to *something* to rise in the standings in this thread. And here it is. Louisville in this one. I think Cinci might be a better team overall, but Louisville is better than what they look like on paper and can pull this one off.

Purdue at Michigann - Michigan. Don't see Purdue doing much here.

Connecticut at Virginia - UCONN - so long as they're in 'em, I'm gonna keep picking 'em! But I'm dying for Uconn to remain undefeated for a bit and somehow make it into the top 25 laugh . But Virginia will be their toughest challenge so far, so this will be close.

Georgia Tech at Miami - Miami. I've had Georgia Tech almost every single week, and lost almost all of them, except last week where I felt I'd stick by 'em. Now...I'm not so sure. Miami's home field advantage might push them over for the win.

#19 Wisconsin at Penn State - I've got Penn State too. The Nittany Lions still deserve a ranking IMO and Wisc proved in their loss last week that they're not as strong as some believed. Plus my friends at Penn State need this one laugh

#23 Auburn at Arkansas - probably the toughest call to make of the ten. Both teams are classic teams and about on the same level. I'm going with Arkansas.

Texas A&M at Texas Tech - I love A&M, but I've got to go with Texas Tech on this one too. When it boils down to it, they're just a better team right now. Stil, I'd love to watch this one if its on Saturday.

Keep in ming we're going to be doing the bowls too. Even at the end of the season, there will be plenty of chances for people to move up and down!

I know laugh

And I'm half-kidding. Part of the fun for me is rooting for teams that may lose, especially ones I ilke for one reason or another. Mainly because if they win I can have even more of a reason to celebrate!

Its funny but I'm going much more with my gut and bending to my own 'wants' here, as compared to Lardy's NFL thread where I've tried to step back and be more clinical (which has entirely everything to do with my preference of the college game over the NFL, not really anything to do with the threads themselves). So here I'm all for ND, Uconn, Illinois, Alabama, Southern Florida (mainly b/c of Vee!) and a couple others! And for at least a few upsets each week.

Cobalt, I'm the oppossite. I'm more clinical with the college game (except for FL and USF). The pro game I've let my feelings take over and I've been terrible.

Alright, I'm feeling all the home teams this week. It wasn't a conscious choice to go that way, but that's how it turned out. With so many even matchups, I decided the home field was the decider.

The one I feel I'm going most out on a limb for is Kentucky over LSU. I just feel this is the best offense LSU has faced in a road game, and I feel this will be a huge gut check for LSU for that reason...one I think they won't pass.

And I wish we'd have a week without a Georgia Tech game on the menu! Every time I pick 'em, they lose, and when I don't, they win! Kick their asses, Miami! laugh

Still "Lardy" to my friends!

TCU at Stanford ~ Stanford proved that they are better than most people thought last week. They'll continue to impress here. Vee's pick ~ Stanford

#11 Missouri at #6 Oklahoma ~ If this game were in Colombia, I would pick Missouri without a doubt but in Norman, I have to give it to the Sooners (much as I hate to do so. frown ) Vee's pick ~ Oklahoma

#1 LSU at #17 Kentucky ~ I really want to pick Kentucky here. They've really impressed me this year and this is at home for them but LSU is pretty impossing and I'm not sure if Kentucky can pull it out. Vee's pick ~ LSU

Louisville at #15 Cincinnati ~ Louiseville still has no defense and Cincy does. Vee's pick ~ Cincinnati

Purdue at Michigan ~ I'm still not believing in the Wolverines so I'm going out on a limb and picking the Boilermakers to march into Ann Arbor and pull out a win. Vee's pick ~ Purdue

Connecticut at Virginia ~ As much as I hope UConn would win this, I think their unbeaten streak will end this weekend to a strong Cavalier team. Vee's pick ~ Virginia

Georgia Tech at Miami ~ Need I say anything? Vee's pick ~ Miami

#19 Wisconsin at Penn State ~ Penn State is having a so-so year but they are still much, much better than Wisconsin. I've been complaining about the Badgers ranking all season and look to Papa Joe to finally boot them out of the Top 25! Vee's pick ~ Penn State

#23 Auburn at Arkansas ~ Can someone tell me which Auburn team will show up to play which Arkansas team, please? Auburn has begun to look better but McFadden really hasn't had a breakout game yet and I think this may be his week. Vee's pick ~ Arkansas

Texas A&M at Texas Tech ~ Much as I like the Aggies, Texas Tech is too good this year and their Qb is stellar. Vee's pick ~ Texas Tech

BTW, if you get the chance to see the South Florida versus Central Florida game, it should be lots of fun. I think it's a Noon start time which puts it up against GT?Miami at least, but keep your eyes open for it.

Speak of the devil. I get about four games at a time up here in CT (have no idea how many you guys get), so I'm watching some great games. Including the South Florida vs. CFU game! It started out looking like CFU was going to give them a run for their money, but SFU has retaken control and looks to dominate the rest of the game.

Also have the Miami/GTech game, and its also been pretty good (its the one I'm mainly watching). Still...this is going to be close.

Funny how one week I get all the Texas/OK games and now this week its all the Florida games. I have no insight to whoever gets certain games. Other games on are Illinois/Iowa where Ill is playing nowhere at the level they were last week and Rutgers/Syracuse where I hope Rutgers can end this brief losing streak and continue on for an almost undefeated rest of the season (that's an almost, as you can guess why laugh ).

Hoping that somehow, someway, ND knocks off BC this week and smashes BC down in the polls.

Wow, South Florida scored 50 points against UCF!

That's pretty scary. UCF is a good team and I never would have thought this game would turn out this way.

Those USF Bulls are more impressive every time I see them play.

Grats on the win KP.... and USF ended up posting 64!!!!! points on the Knights! Wow!

And right now I'm wishing I had picked Kentucky instead of talking myself out of it. They just tied up the game at 27 a piece with 4 minutes to go. They're playing amazing football against LSU. Should be a great finish....

And USC just squeeked out a win against Arizona!
