Wow. Lee Corso sure has a lot of makeup on this morning. The problem is, unlike most women, makeup doesn't make Corso look any better.
Seriously. He looks like Boy George.

Running Saturday commentary:
Can someone please drop Wisconsin out of the top 10 already? I mean, come on, 21-21 at the half against The Citadel... puh-leeze...

So far, the most fun game I've watched was the Texas at UCF. Texas won 35 - 32 but it was a great game by both teams and was uncertain until the the very last play. UCF got back within 3 points with 15 seconds to go. Texas handled the on side kick to end the game but the way UCF was playing....fun!

Legion World College GameWeek - Sunday Morning Recap
Florida State 16 Colorado 6
FSU continued to demonstrate that something is very wrong in Bobbytown yet still managed an ugly win against the Buffs. The Seminole defense played an adequate game, keeping Colorado contained and off balance for most of the game but the FSU offense did little to capitalize on the field position they enjoyed all game. They couldn't even punch it in when they were handed the ball at the 15 yard line, settling for a field goal instead.
Boston College 24 Georgia Tech 10
This was Matt Ryan's day. The BC quarterback 30-44 for 435 passing yards (his third 400+ passing game in a row). BC's offensive line held off an impressive GT blitzing defense, giving Ryan all the time he needed to pick apart the GT secondary and corners. On the flip side, the BC defense kept the Yellowjackets to just 267 total yards and a surprisingly poor 67 on the ground.
By the time BC faces their next ACC opponent (Virginia Tech on Oct 25th in Blacksburg) they should be 7-0 and getting lots of hype about a potential National Championship and Heisman Trophy. They should easily handle Army, UMass, Bowling Green and Notre Dame. The biggest roadblock I see for them past VT may well be their 2nd to last game at Clemson.
Georgia Tech could still make it to a rematch against BC in Jacksonville for the ACC championship game but they certainly will have some questions to answer before then.
USC 49 Nebraska 31
As expected USC proved too much for Nebraska. Were it not for two touchdown drives in the 4th quarter by the Cornhuskers, the score would look more like the actual game. USC dominated in every aspect of this game.
Louisville 34 Kentucky 40
My hat's off to Kentucky for playing a great game against an excellent Cardinal team. This was one of the most fun games of the afternoon...seesawing back and forth with the outcome in doubt until the very last second. Kentucky went ahead for the final time with only 28 seconds remaining on a 57 yard touchdown pass from Woodson to Steve Johnson. They then held on while Lousville's QB Brohm, led the Cardinal's back on the field after the kickoff and got them close enough for a last second touchdown pass attempt from Brohm to Harry Douglas, caught at the 10 yard line. But The Wildcat defenders closed in on him immediately and stopped him short of the goal line to end the game.
Fun, fun, fun! This was college football at it's best!
Pittsburg 13 Michigan State 17
MIchigan State held on in another exciting finish to stop Pit's hail mary attempt from the 40 into the end zone with no time remaining. The difference in the game between what appeared to be two evenly matched teams was an interception off a tipped screen pass by Spartan Travis Key in the second quarter which he carried 31 yards for a defensive touchdown.
Fresno State 21 Oregon 52
I wasn't able to see anything of this game but from the looks of things, the #19 Ducks had an easy time putting down the pesky Bulldogs of Fresno State. With surprising loses by Washington & UCLA this weekend, one has to wonder if the Ducks may rise to the top of the Pac 10 heap and be able to compete for the title. A visit from #8 Cal in two weeks may help clarify who is going to challenge USC for the crown.
Arkansas 38 Alabama 41
Wow, another nail bighter on a weekend full of them! Alabama seemed to have this game in hand through 3 quarters, entering the 4th leading 31 - 17 and pretty much having shut down the Razorbacks premier running back McFadden. All that changed in the 4th quarter, when Arkansas rolled for 21 unanswered points, taking the lead for the first time in the game. They then held Alabama to a (mystifying) field goal in the Tide's 2nd to last drive. Why would Saban go for a field goal when only a touchdown would tie the game?
The answer to that question proved moot, since Alabama then put together a very impressive defensive series, stopping the Razorbacks and forcing them give up the ball one last time with only 2:13 left in the game.
This last ditch series by Alabama was magical. QB John Parker Wilson impressed me with his poise and accuracy as he led the 'Bama boys all the way down the field with completions to Matt Caddell. His ball placement was so perfect that the Tide benefited from two huge pass intereference calls against Arkansas defenders. The Razorback defenders simply had no choice but to grab the 'Bama receiver in order to prevent touchdown completions but they paid the price. With just 8 seconds remaining, John Parker Wilson threw a perfect pass into the back corner of the end zone to Caddell, who reeled it in for the game winning score. Beautiful!
Notre Dame 0 Michigan 38
The less said about this game the better. 'Grats to the Wolverines for a much needed win and my condolences to Irish fans everywhere. I'm far from being a Notre Dame fan but even I can't stand to see how far they've fallen.
Ohio State 33 Washington 14
Didn't get to see much of this game either, though I did manage to see bits and pieces. Looks like OSU finally got in gear in the second half and their defense was able to control the Huskies, forcing turnovers and mistakes that no one can afford against a good Buckeyes team.
Tennessee 20 Florida 59
I'm not sure whether Florida is just that good (they are) or if the Vols are just that bad (they aren't), but I never would have predicted this lopsided outcome, even though the game was played in the swamp and this series is always crazy. Tebow had a spectacular game, his first starting assignment against an SEC team, and he certainly rose to the occasion. 299 passing yards and 2 beautiful touchdown passes to Riley Cooper and Cornelius Ingram in the endzone and ran for 61 yards and 2 touchdowns on his own.
This victory really seems to set Florida up as the team to beat in the SEC East but they still have some tough games ahead of them at LSU (non-divisional), at Georgia and at South Carolina. If they play like they did on Saturday against Tennessee, they could very well be on their way to a National Championship.

Someone needs to explain to me how Wisconsin managed to stay in the Top 10 with the perfomance they mailed in against The Citadel. They only dropped 2 spots to 9th in the AP poll and remained unchanged at 7th in the USA Today poll. Particularly when you had such impressive wins by others against highly ranked teams.

What a great week! Lots of great games and a few surprises as lots of teams let it be known just how strong they are, and unfortunately, many also do the opposite. ND vs. Michigan - man, this was tough. Getting blown out completely made it all the more worse. ND is in serious trouble. They need to do something and do it fast. I'm worried about Charlie Weiss since I think he's a terrific coach. But I liked Ty Willingham too and look what happened to him. USC vs. Nebraska - Well, I knew that it was a long shot and only predicted it so I could rub it in if I was right, but it was a pretty exciting game for the end of the night! Still, USC is a powerhouse. LSU dominated. Just pure dominated. UCONN - alright! Keep it going Huskies! I can't believe Louisville lost to Kentucky. Home field advantage really played in stronger than it looked at first (to me, as I believe our esteemed Kid Prime now can say "I told you so"). I agree with Vee--this was college football at its best. The excitement level was worth me not picking the winner before hand. Ruetgers, Penn State and West Virgina pull off solid wins. The first two were blowouts but WV/Maryland was a great game on Thursday night. Cannot believe Auburn has lost again. They too are in for a rough year. Miss State is always a decent team, but I didn't think they could beat Auburn--a lot of this is mental. Utah beat UCLA! Alabama vs. Arkansas! Perhaps the best game of the weekend? I watched the end of this game at the bar on Sat. night. A very exciting finish. Great, great game and Alabama pulls it off. Just about all of us predicted that. Tons of other great games that I only saw the highlights of. Boston College over Georgia Tech was a surprise and set the tone for that division, and I can't believe Florida State marched into Colorado and beat them in CO. Michigan State vs. Pittsburgh was also a great game. BTW, College Game Day is perhaps the best program on TV. I was laughing hystericall when Lee Corso put on the Trojans uniform in Nebraska and they started raining trash on him. This thread is pretty much my favorite active LW thread . Loving the Vee reviews! Loving Kippers 'Roll Tide' reaction!

I'll definately be doing a Top 25 (top 40 this week) but need more time to take it all in and vote. Placing Notre Dame on (or off ) will kill me. But I may have to sneak UCONN in then. Its very hard for me to not play favorites

My recaps as well: BC-GT: Boston College has definitely positioned themselves as the team to beat in the ACC. We'll see how they handle having a target on their backs. Kentucky-Lousiville: I'm not going to say "I told you so," I just had a gut feeling about Kentucky. They've been getting better every year for the last several years now, and I think they are in for a really great season, by their standards. Florida-Tennessee: In my opinion, Florida's win wasn't that huge, as Tennessee is as down these days as they have been in recent years. With the surge of Kentucky, South Carolina, and yes, even Vanderbilt, I think it could be a very long year in Knoxville. The problem with Tennessee is that they don't have any backup plan past Ainge (they were planning on him having a big year throwing the ball,) and with his gimpy hand... well, he was never stellar, and now he's just this side of plain sucking. Of course, being the Bama fan that I am, I watch all of this with unmitigated glee. Tennessee is to us as Notre Dame is to Michigan. Back to Florida! Even though I don't think this win is as impressive as it looked, they did elevate themselves back to the very top level in the national media. Definitely USC, LSU, Oklahoma, and Florida all seem to be playing at a different level at this point, and have to be seen as the early contenders for the title game in January. And the only thing I can say about Tebow is that I'm glad as hell we just dropped the Gators off our cross-divisional rotation, and we won't see him in the regular season during his tenure in Gainesville... thank the lord. Auburn-Mississippi State: Auburn... (Of course, rumors are already starting around here about how they're going to fire off Tubs and lure Bobby Petrino away from the Atlanta Falcons. We'll see. Or in Auburn's case, we probably won't.) UCLA-Utah: UCLA. What the hell happened? Notre Dame-Michigan: The less said about ND the better (sorry, Cobie! ) , but I do think this win could put some wind back into Michigan's sails. We've seen this behavior from this program before... start the season well-regarded, then the bottom drops out, then they pull themselves back together and win the Big Ten. It wouldn't surprise me to see it again. This week's game against Penn State will be huge. Nebraska-USC: I thought Nebraska was a question mark. The continued marginalization of the Big 12 north just continues year after year, and this week both Colorado and Nebraska lost big at home. The North division of the Big 12 is just laughable. This is a huge problem with this conference, and they need to try and fix it. Alabama-Arkansas: And finally... tears were shed, voices raised, and drinks upturned when John Parker Wilson his Matt Caddell with that touchdown pass to seal Alabama's victory over Arkansas. We then sang the fight song in the living room. We then did the Rammer Jammer cheer in the living room. 10 of us. It is one of my favorite memories watching a football game, and probably my best Alabama memory of this decade thus far. It just meant to much, coming from behind to rally and win, when in the past several years, we just couldn't do that... game, after game, after game. Though I hated the way we blew a 21-point lead, that is the way Arkansas plays football. More than any other SEC team, they live for being behind and coming back. Yes, McFadden and Jones beat our defensive front black and blue, but we will learn from this experience, and honestly, until we get to LSU, we won't see another offense like Arkansas. A small gripe... Arkansas played 3 awesome quarters, even though they dug themselves in a huge hole early. They didn't deserve to be dropped from the polls. So though I'm loving our #16 ranking, boo to the pollsters for that. Another great week of college football action!!

Great story about the game Kippers! I love, love, love that sort of thing! I was at UCONN when they won the Basketball Championship and whenever there's more than four of us together, we'll chant all night long like a bunch of drunken freshman. Pride for your school never gets old! Jillikers, I did poorly for my college football and NFL picks! Which in an odd way is kind of kewl in that I was surprised all weekend!

I saw the Florida game. Tebow does look like Superman. But I wouldn't have him run the ball that much. Atleast not at the end of the game. The WRs & RBs were running the ball quite well. Share the ball coach! I've heard he wants to give Tebow experience early so he can rest him late...but these safetys and CBs are coming in low...hitting ankles and knees. There is enough talent on that team offensively to share the ball. And the defense (which I thought was a huge weakness) looked pretty darn good. Good enough to beat LSU? I don't think so but I'm hoping.
Cobie, regarding Notre Dame? I'm a fan. Went to catholic school my entire life (explains alot doesn't it?) does that too you.
I liked Ty as well and was sad to see him go. I got caught in the hype with Charlie. He's the savior I thought! When they gave him that HUGE contract I stopped. It's a recipe for disaster. All of sudden I felt Charlie was over confident and the Irish jumped the gun with that money. This season goes to show that. NO ONE is a savior. I think they will be much better next year but I see lots of mistakes this year. They played some good teams but damn! 0-3??? That's blashpemy.

The ones I would drop from KP's suggestions are:
Washington at #11 UCLA (doesn't seem that interesting after both of them lost this week in games they could/should have won) Michigan State at Notre Dame (I really don't want to see another ND slaughter, thank you.) Iowa at #7 Wisconsin (Iowa lost to State and Wisconsin almost lost to the Citadel!) Air Force at Brigham Young (meh! )
A few other games that would be fun on the list are:
Oregon St at Arizona St Memphis at UCF Kent State at Akron My input: Maryland's playing Wake Forest. East Carolina's 1-2 now, and even though they played VT tough, I don't know that they're really much of a pick against WV. However, I agree totally on not doing ND-MSU, if only to give our resident ND fan some relief. I think Washington and UCLA still has Pac-10 implications and thus is still interesting. Plus, I am interested in who will bounce back from this week's losses. Memphis and UCF - great game (especially since UCF almost upset Texas last week!) Good find!!! I can lose Air Force - BYU. I do want to keep an eye on Air Force, though. I'm not sure about TT-OSU (OSU is 1-2 currently.) Also, Virginia is playing host to GT this week. A chance for GT to get back in their ACC division, since Virginia is currently sitting on top. Looks interesting to me. Factoring in your input and the results from this week, here are the games I think would be best: #20 Texas A&M at Miami #22 Georgia at #16 Alabama Washington at UCLA Georgia Tech at Virginia #10 Penn State at Michigan Memphis at Central Florida #21 Kentucky at Arkansas Connecticut at Pittsburgh #12 South Carolina at #2 LSU North Carolina at #23 South Florida Any more thoughts? Vee, anyone else??

Looks good to me. I do agree about Air Force. It's just that the BYU game doesn't seem that appealing. Air Force has some interesting games coming up though . Good pick on the Virginia - GT game. I didn't catch that one but it's a good one! BTW, Rutgers does play Maryland next but it's after the off week they have this week.

And Mark Richt has closed Georgia's practices to the media in preparation for the Alabama game, for the first time in his his tenure with the program. I think we're sending some chills down some spines, y'all.
