I certainly wouldn't kill for it. I might not even be willing to spring for it. But I sure would like to see an American release of "Yawara! a Fashionable Judo Girl." It's an animated series that ran from 1989-1993 about a girl who's a genius at judo and is pushed by her megalomanical grandpa to compete for Olympic gold, even though she *hates* judo. It's way dated (she's headed to the Barcelona Games) but it's funny, charming and touching. I've seen 45 fan-subtitled episodes so far...only about 80 to go...

Actually, out DVD player plays regions 1, 2 and 4 (where is region 3 by the way? Japan or something?) so we *could* get series 3 if we really wanted to but it's expensive to get it off Australian Amazon (import taxes and all that gubbins) and hasn't been released here in the UK yet. I'm not even sure if series 2 has been released yet (series 1 doesn't even start showing on the BBC until this month) but we have the box set of the first two series from when Chris went to Oz on holiday last year, which is good. Worth it just for the out-takes and the full version of Sharon's audition for being a volunteer at the Commonwealth Games, especially her dance version of 'Australia Fair'.
But I wanna see Kylie as Eponee Rae dammit. We have all three series of Kath and Kim out here in Australia. Kath and Kim is the funniest show ever created (bar Little Britain)

The Pulse has more details on the Flash Gordon DVD set. It will be launched at this year's SDCC.

I was just thinking abut this thread yesterday!
I would definitely spring for the BATMAN tv series (1966-68). I taped most of it off Channel 11 (Secaucus, NJ) around 15 years ago, and they BUTCHERED the show! Every episode looked like it had several minutes missing, some plots were difficult to follow as a result. I loved the show when it was first run... slowly became embarrassed by it in the 70's (my teen years-- that figures), then after a long break, rediscovered it in the early 90's and have watched it twice since. Astonishingly, it keeps GETTING BETTER-- well, MOST episodes. Some I can now appreciate for just how FUNNY they are (being really funny can forgive a LOT of other "sins"-- heh heh), although some, I just wanna bash the writers with a rubber baseball bat. (Story Editor Charles Hoffman gets my vote for having done the STUPIDEST story of the entire 2nd season-- which unfortunately, just happens to be the 2-parter with The Green Hornet & Kato.)
A few years ago, TV Land ran the show again, allowing me to tape several episodes Channel 11 somhow just skipped over... and now, I'm recalling seeing quite a few scenes on TV Land that AREN'T on my Ch.11 tapes. GRRRRRRRRRR! I think it's high time, long overdue, for this series to find a new audience, and do it in "proper", UNCUT form.
And of course, a box set would HAVE to include the 1966 feature films, which takes place BETWEEN the 1st & 2nd seasons...
And while they're at it, not only should the Nelson Riddle soundtrack album be reissued again-- THIS time, remastered properly (my LP sounds better than the out-of-print CD), but an extrememly "expanded" version (or perhaps a Vol.2) is REALLY called for, since the original LP only contained material from the first 5 episodes. Near as I can tell, Nelson Riddle wrote music for almost EVERY major villain on the show-- and MOST of them have never been issued on disc in ANY form! This would include the Egyptian stuff for King Tut, the annoying Edwardian-like stuff for Book Worm, and the EERIE music for Catwoman!
From some things I've run across online, it seems there's some kind of resistence to putting this stuff out... I say, TO HELL with whoever is standing in the way of it! To the general public at large, the '66 BATMAN will always be the "classic" version-- thanks to the power of television! And, as someone recently pointed out, the '66 show was a LOT closer to its source material than many younger fans would like to admit.

Dont Worry...she Cant Act. though I suggest you try and track down "Cut" (Oz Horror Movie starring Kylie and Molly Ringwald_ or "Sample People" (Gen X flick starring Kylie...all Tattooed and whatnot)...both prime examples of her truly craptaculur acting skills. And I want She-Ra Dammit! I have Jem...She-ra is a natural progression. oh and Justice League / Unlimited needs to be released on Region 4 Liquid Television (to go hand in hand with my Aeon Flux DVDs) The Maxx Duckman the Tick Is Sailormoon out anywhere?
Remember : It's not technically a suckerpunch if you yell ''DEFEND YOURSELF SPROCKER!'' two seconds before you let him have it.

What, no feature-film version?
The 1979 FG was originally made as a feature film, which was in fact distributed to theatres overseas. But in the US, it wasn't shown until 3 years after it was made. Instead, they created the weekly serial, using bits of the film here and there. Kinda like what happened with the first 5 episodes of LOST IN SPACE, I suppose.
The funny thing is, the Filmation film, FLASH GORDON: THE GREATEST ADVENTURE OF ALL, was so good, it inspired Dino DeLaurentis (whose company distributed the film in Europe) to make his own, live action film, which he somehow managed to get into theatres LESS than a year after he got the idea! More people know Dino's film-- but the cartoon feature had better writing.

Anyone else remember these?
The Planet of the Apes animated series from the 1970s. You guessed it... another Filmation product.
And from the 1980s, the Saturday morning Flash Gordon show ... it really carried over the feel of the old serials .... We're two for three now. Star Trek: The Animated Series is coming to DVD on November 21st! All 22 episodes on a four disc set for $35. More info here .

That's not a bad price at all. I was looking at the Star Trek TOS DVDs the other day and they wanted $99.00 a piece for each season ... that's just way more than I want to play for a plastic case full of DVDs.
Wonder if Planet of the Apes is next?

Well, have I got some great news for a few people! Drake: The first season of "Riptide" will be out Sept. 26 (though Scott's looked worthwhile, too ). Lance's Realm: We got the official annoucement that "Dungeons & Dragons" is coming Nov. 7, all 27 episodes in a four-disc set. Extras will be announced later. A couple people: "The Tick" (animated) is coming Aug. 29. It's 12 of the 13 episodes from the first season. The Mole Men episode is not being released with conflicting reports as to why, but it sounds like it may be released later. A couple more people: "Planet of the Apes" (animated) is back on the schedule for Oct. 3, according to tvshowsondvd.com. And I dont' think anybody mentioned these, but some are pretty cool. They're being announced this weekend at SDCC by BCI, but I got the press release today. Sometime in the fouth quarter, we'll see: "She-Ra" (sesaon 1, vol. 1), "Ghost Busters" (live action from the '60s with Forrest Tucker and Larry Storch), "Ark II," "Mission Magic" (with Rick Springfield!) and "The New Adventures of He-Man." In 2007: "Space Academy," "The Cat Pack," "Zorro and the Lone Ranger," "Bravestarr," "Ghost Busters" (animated version of original show), "Jason of Star Command," "Hero High," "Fabulous Funnies" and, drumroll please, "The Legend of Isis."

I know my brother would like to see some of the 60's Hanna Barbera superhero cartoons, like "Herculoids", "Birdman and the Galaxy Trio"... that kind of stuff.
A complete set for "Liberty's Kids" would be good; they brought up more information about American history than I got in my textbooks.

wouldn't mind getting a box set of X-men: Evolution. i know it wasn't "cannon" but i actually liked this series better than the 90's fox series. and i'd actually be interested in getting Birds of Prey.

Still no Josie & The Pussycats. Also, I would like to see CLUELESS released. It ran for at least 2 seasons (possibly 3) around 1996-ish, and starred much of the original cast of the movie. I had several episodes on VCR tape that I rediscovered recently.

Harkening back to the original Star Trek series, Amazon this week dropped the prices of those cool looking full season box sets.
Season One - $69.98 (was $92.76) Season Two - $51.99 (was over $100.00) Season Three - $55.99 (was over $100.00) All Three - $175.98
May be time to finally start getting them.

Popping pricecuts!!
Last weekend I was in SPIN STREET and the Star Trek OS Season 1 set was marked down from $124.99 to $59.99, perhaps following suit with Amazon. I snatched it up. My set is now complete, YAY!
Fizzling fundage!
Desperate Housewives Season 2 went on sale Tuesday at Target for $35.99. I've seen maybe 3 of the shows over its two-season span and have loved it every time, so I went ahead and bought Seasons 1 & 2 last night. S1 wasn't on sale ($49.99) but I got a $5 gift card with Season 2, so that helped me justify it. I'm so broke but have tons of DVDs to watch!!

STAR TREK (original series) At long last, it looks like come May, my initial list of wants will be fulfilled... DARIA The Complete Series out MAY 11! Color me thrilled that this is a COMPLETE series set, as 1 season at a time might result in later seasons never getting released (HELLO, King of the Hill!!) and that they are including both movies (hopefully placed chronologically). They are keeping what original music they can and replacing the rest with generic stuff... OK by me. This will be purchased by me on release date!

ANd it was and I am **LOVING IT**!!
So now I have a new wish list (do only 2 items make a list?)
CLUELESS (the 90s series that ran for 3 seasons iirc, based on the hit movie)
KING OF THE HILL (seasons 7-13; only 6 seasons have been released and that was years ago)

I'm still hoping someone will release the remaining seasons of HILL STREET BLUES on DVD. Only the first two seasons ever made it out.
