It was a japanese tv show from the late sixties early seventies, I remember seeing it as a kid. I think Ultraman was supposed to be this superhero that lived in the sun. He would cross his hands and fire bullets. I think he was silver. its been what...30 years since I've seen it.

Was looking on the internet to try and find the episodes. Figured Sam might enjoy them and I could take a trip down memory lane.

I remember seeing part on an episode.

I found some clips on YouTube and here

It looks like there are several different series of Ultraman. I also found Ultraman videos on Netflix.

I'm a fan of the Ultraman franchise although I haven't been able to watch much of it stuck here in the states.

You can find the complete original series (including the original english dub) for cheap (about $5) on Amazon here:

I own them & they're fairly good transfers. Every so often you have issues like an an episode not wanting to play in english or skipping but you can't really fault it considering the price.

Ah, well. I think they have free episodes online on Hulu or another one of those official online video sites until you can convince her otherwise. You can also find said box set for cheap in stores. I found the Vol 1 & 2 sets at the local Fred Meyer (or it could of been Wal-Mart).

This is probably off the subject, but I saw an Ultraman movie this morning starring Sinbad and Arnold Swartzenegger(sp) plus a number of other familiar faces.
It was pretty funny, in a slightly hysterical way.

Arnold and Sinbad ran around all of Christmas eve day trying to find and buy the VERY sold out Ultraman action figure.

You're thinking of the movie Jingle All The Way, and according to Wikipedia the toy was called Turbo-Man. I can't recall if I've ever seen it.

Ultra-Man was awesome, always shooting up to giant size to fight those dorky monsters that seem to find Tokyo irresistable this time of year.

These days, they are almost painfully bad to watch. I can't believe how excited I was by those 'special' effects, as a kid. Some of the 'laser beams' look like they scratched the film with a penny to make a white line...

I used to love this show when I was a kid. The local station paired it with "Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot."

"Johnny Sokko" is at hulu.com. "Ultraman" used to be, I think, but now it just looks like the newer version from a few years ago.

I was about to put out what SS just did...and considering that we grew up in the same area...it would be redundant for me to tell you the same thing. I will say that I caught hell having the last name of Sopko, when Johnny Sokko" was on the air here. Hope for my sons sake it doesn't come back into vogue.

Ultraman and I debuted the same year (1966). It wasn't broadcast in the city I grew up in, and I couldn't wait to see it when I visited family in Chicago. It was painfully bad, even to my young eyes. I think it stands as a monumental cautionary tale for plotting and editing. And testimony to the ultimate coolness of the 60s crash helmet. But Ultraman himself was so awesome he overpowered all those drawbacks. The show always did a great job of placing Ultraman in almost apocalyptic peril, with just enough energy to defeat the monster, and that blinking jewel timer of death on his chest. Strongish stuff for the rugrat set. The chef at the best sushi bar in Chicago (Katsu!) is a big fan of the show and has a whole shrine to Ultraman on the bar itself!

...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"
