??? Originally posted by Blockade Boy: Depends upon whether you're reading the book or watching the movie doesn't it? As I wrote, the book had Owen as Obi's brother. Why wouldn't you go to Tatooine to try and squeeze some info out of his brother? Then again, even in the movies, Vader wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. The two seem mutually exclusive in this case though if the book claims that Vader never even knew that Padme was pregnant at all...

Yo, this seems hard to get across. I'm not claiming that Vader would be looking for the baby. Vader's job was to hunt down Jedi. He would be looking for Obi-Wan. A logical way to look for Obi-Wan would be to extract info from Obi's family. In the book, Owen was Obi's brother. Given how close Obi and Anakin were, it's logical that Vader/Anakin would know about this relationship. Hence, Vader would go to Owen to find Obi. What else would he find there? A baby strong in the Force.
It would seem that somewhere (book or movie) Obi's death should must have been faked but I can't find it anywhere. Not giving a reason for Vader to NOT look for Obi would be a weak plot point in my opinion. Obi being alive would lead Vader right to Tatooine/Owen. If Sith can feel a "disturbance" in the force, imagine what would happen if Luke pooped a diaper while Vader was "visiting" Owen? No way Owen could keep the presence of Luke hidden.
Hiding Luke on Tatooine still seems a poorly done plot point to me (at least in the book's version) because Owen being Obi's brother was just too likely a place for Vader to go. Eh, s'pose it's time to for me to let it go.
profh0011 Those are genious. I was thinking of taking a serious stab at the casting. I actually thought of Errol Flynn, but as Han. Your's is better. When I couldn't come up with a Leia, I decided to be flip. It was so obvious. Of course, Judy Garland.
I still like my choice for Jabba though, though I change Roobie the Robot to C3PO and choose Lassie to play R2D2.

The more I think about it, Humphrey Bogart seems even better for Han Solo. I recently saw TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT, and much of Han's character seems pulled straight out of that movie! (Plus, it's all too easy to see Bogart & Greenstreet at odds again.)

What's criminal on my end is, I still have never seen Ronald Colman in one of his "Swashbuckers"-- but I know he's also good with a sword!

Another one...
George Sanders -- General Veers
There were a few alternatives I toyed with... like Colin Clive as Tarkin, Basil Rathbone as Count Dukoo (though I prefer staying away from Ep.s 1-3 in this fantasy). Clive isn't as versatile as Rathbone, though. I also thought of Sanders as Dukoo (but, see above). Then it hit me, I was trying to think of someone with that kind of "look", and cold-blooded efficiency about him as Julian Glover had in EMPIRE. Every time I see the film he impresses me, he's the ONLY Imperial soldier who's NOT showing fear around Vader-- he's just damned good at his job. They had him killed in the novelization-- screw that, I prefer to think he came out of it okay and just shrugged his soldiers later when The Emperor got killed.
Then if you wanna really stretch... Peter Lorre as Yoda!

Here you'll find an extensive list of the 'easter eggs' included in Episode III, consisting of many cameos and images. One scene actually reveals the Millennium Falcom that Lucas himself has confirmed is the real thing, prior to being owned by Lando Calrissian or Han Solo.

In the middle of RETURN OF THE JEDI today. Possibly my favorite sequence in the entire epic is the early part of this film. One thing that really stuck in my mind this time... Here you have Luke, using his powers with confidence for the very first time, still not considered an official "Jedi" by Yoda... and he takes out this gigantic source of SCUM in one EXTREMELY decisive battle. So... ALL those years Jabba was in business, WHAT THE HELL were the Jedi waiting for???
From the time Ep.5 hit theatres, George Lucas maintained there would be 9 films-- 3 trilogies-- each taking place about 20 years apart. Since starting the "first" trilogy, he's been saying Eps. 1-3 will be the last ones. Still, I think I would like to see Eps. 7-9 one of these days. If "balance" has been restored with the destruction of the Sith, and if Luke is as good or better at what he does than Obi-Wan (and probably smarter in the long run than, say, Mace Windu) it makes me want to see what the galaxy would be like with a new generation of Jedi working to bring order to it.
I know there's probably been TONS of stories already-- in novels, in comics... but I wanna see MOVIES!
Of course, I feel sure from the title we'd have yet ANOTHER war-- but what sort? Just one, I'd hope, at any rate. I think one of the big mistakes of Eps. 1-3 was cramming 2 wars into only 3 movies.

When the originals came out the big buzz was the three trilogies. Now when I say he's gone back on what he originally promised I keep hearing he only promised six. But this is from people who weren't born or still in diapers when the originals came out. I'd like to see the next three movies cover Luke's rebuilding of the Jedi and the lives of Han and Leia's children. I've never read any of the books or comics that covered the period after the original trilogy so anything would be new to me.

A final trilogy I think would be the hardest. The interesting characters are gone. Yoda, Obi, Anakin, gone
Chewie and Han make a fun team in a comedic sort of way. Luke and Leia? Really, snore. I can't see centering a movie around them. 20 years later, the ankle biters would be around, but again, comedic.
General Thrawn and The Hand! Now there's a movie buddy, problem being it doesn't signify "an end" in any sense as a final trilogy should.
There ARE other stories I'd like to see.
A pre-prequel history of the Jedi kind of thing. A movie wrapped around Darth Maul! But for me, the only final trilogy that I can think of that would work, would be one that made a connection to modern day Earth.

Dark Horse had an interesting mini that took place after epVI wherein Emperor Palpatine resurrects himself with the use of cloned bodies and Luke starts to take on some of Palpatine's philosphy by deciding that he needs to "explore" the dark side to gain a greater understanding of the Force (he even dons a black cloak and getup that's very reminicent of Vader). Han and Leia have twins and Boba Fett returns, but I don't remember too much else about it.

I wonder if Harrison Ford could even be persuaded to play Han again in the third trilogy. In one TV interview, he described the character as "thin" and seemed to disassociate himself from the STAR WARS movies.

i'm quite content with 6 movies, if they decide to do a cartoon or tv show that takes place between 3 and 4 i would enjoy that. Outside of that, i am not interested in another trilogy, the first 2 episodes were terrible but SITH made up for that partially.

Well I fulfilled the obligation to go see Episode III and I must say that for myself the best thing about the movie was that I was in an air conditioned building for a couple of hours.
Whenever they mentioned the "baby", I was thinking "it's twins"

[/b]I missed episodes 1 and 2, but skipped out of the office to catch episode 3 with Lad Boy. Let's hope Lucas keeps his word and stops at six. Technology doesn't really make up for things like acting or a story. Lad Boy's incessant flirtation was the highlight of my film experience Friday, and he's really not my type.

Just saw this one again over the weekend, and it dropped 2 points out of 10 with the second viewing. A friend cluelessly asked: "So, it's like an 8/10 now?" I replied, "More like a 4." But at least it was a free ticket and I got out of the house for a few hours.

I just got back from *finally* seeing this movie! I REALLY liked it. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but there was so much to see and enjoy on the screen that I just sat back and let myself go with it.
I just *LOVE* the design elements of the Star Wars films - the costumes, the planets, the aliens, the buildings, the star-ships, the weapons... I could've watched all that amazing detail and craftmanship all night!
I do have a question about something that's bugging me though - WHAT THE HELL DID PADME SAY JUST BEFORE SHE DIED ON THE TABLE??? I totally didn't catch that and its driving me insane not knowing! Someone help please!

Didn't catch that at all either time I saw it. It figures, though. Luke was the ONLY one in Ep.6 who believed his father still had some good in him. Even Ben & Yoda didn't believe that! Good thing Luke was right, too... After he pulled that stupid throwing away the lightsaber trick, he almost got FRIED! (Whereas, it looked like that idiot Mace COULD have beaten the Emperor-- if Luke's father hadn't CUT HIS ARM off...)

"he's still got good in him, i know it"
or words to that effect ...
