That's just how they stay in the news.
As for Sabathia, I haven't checked out the numbers carefully (although I do recall seeing one article seriously advocating Scott Kazmir for the Cy Young) but he's certainly an accomplished enough pitcher that I wouldn't begrudge him the award.

Yeah, Sebathia's a great pitcher, but if he wins the Cy Young over Beckett (and who knows, maybe it will be neither), I think they will look back to these two postseason head-to-head matchups and think Beckett should have won, fair or not.

I just checked out some numbers, and Beckett's a decent candidate, but I'd probably give Sabathia, or maybe Lackey or Carmona, my vote over him.

Maybe it should be taken into account that Beckett could be a little more aggressive in the regular season because of the formidable bats in the Sox lineup providing ample run support? No? In any case...what a great ALCS, eh? Red Sox have a big home field advantage Sunday night, BUT...Daisuke Matsuzaka will be on the mound! The Red Sox's biggest offseason story will now have the opportunity to earn that big paycheck ( and all that media attention). He's laid an egg thus far in the postseason...will he get redemption here? If he shows any shakiness tonight, look for Francona to give him the hook rather quickly. Rooting for a Sox/Rocks series...

I'm excited about Sox/Rocks! Personally, I hope it goes seven games!

This is the first World Series that I'm missing since 2000 cause my German Pay-TV provider lost the Baseball rights last season... but I'm glad to learn that the Red Sox are doing well. The Matsusaka deal seems to have payed off so?

What an amazing collapse by the Cleveland Cubs. *ahem* Anyway, I'll certainly be watching, although I have no idea which team I'll be rooting for. I'm a national league guys, so I guess I'll pull for the Rockies. Maybe.

Oh, and CJ - Why do I have to keep Cobie sober!? Well, I'm glad you didn't give me something tough like curing the common cold or solving the unified field theory...

Sorry Lance, I figured it was easier than keeping him fed.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Stoopid internet crashed, and they had to suspend ticket sales. We're going to try again today at noon.
Just spouting off.

Uh-oh. Does this mean when the series moves to Colorado there will only have been 3 tickets sold, or does it mean that they will have sold 2 million tickets too many? I'm turning my car around right now...

Well they finally sold them all out, after a major 'net mess. I didn't get any tickets tho'. So Lance, make sure you keep Cobie very drunk.
Go Rockies!

hmm...my original plan was to keep him sober by drinking all the beer myself. I still like the plan, so I'm not going to change it...

This was one of the least climactic Fall Classics in memory. Ah, well, there's always next year...
