I stayed up to watch one of the most exciting playoff games I can remember last night - probably the most exciting game I have seen since the Atlanta-St. Louis game a decade or so ago. (I know it technically wasn't the postseason, but it sure felt like it!) Anyway, let's hear what you think of this years post-season. And yes, I wanna see brackets. Big cash prizes (from somebody else) for a correct bracket!
Here's mine -
NLDS Cubs over Dbacks Rockies over Phillies
ALDS Cleveland over Yankees Angels over Boston
NLCS Rockies over Cubs
ALCS Angels over Cleveland
World Series Angels over Rockies

It was tough watching my Mets collapse, but seeing the Rockies run made it better. And I've got some faith in the rockies, but not long term. It was a great game last night, seeing the Padres and Rockies battle for the wild Card spot.
NLDS Dbacks over Cubs Rockies over Phillies
ALDS Cleveland over Yankees Boston over Angels
NLCS Dbacks over Rockies
ALCS Boston over Cleveland
World Series Dbacks over Boston
Just spouting off.

After what felt like a dreary 2007 season, August and September have been nothing short of amazing. The Yanks chasing Boston! The Mets meltdown--heartbreaking to watch for this NY supporter! And yes, that game last night was hella-amazing! What a damn good game. I'm a 100% born and bred Yankees fan, and I am a firm believer that the Yankees should win every World Series, that no, there is not enough to spread for everyone. NLDS Cubs over Dbacks Phillies over Rockies ALDS Yankees Cleveland Angels over Boston NLCS Cubs over Phillies ALCS Yankees over Angels World Series Yankees over Cubs Seriously though, if the Cubs did win, I wouldn't mind too much But I have to say...I'm kind of supporting the Rockies now in the NL. That game was just that good. They came completely off my radar two weeks ago and have made a hell of a run.

Lets Go Cubbies.
I don't care about the others.
Go Cubs Go.
But for fun... I hope the Red Sox and Yankees get clubbed in the first round.
Rockies over the Phils... these East Coast teams can't lose enough, soon enough for me.
Indians over the Angels and the Cubs over the Indians.
Wouldn't be terribly disappointed if the Indians win as long as the Cubs are already knocked out. I went to the same high school as their manager and he was catcher on our varsity while I was an outfielder on the JV team. By the time I made varsity he had graduated, but I still played varsity with his little bro.

Well, I have rooted for the Cubs for years and would LOVE to see them win the WS - especially after the meltdown that happened against the Marlins in the NLCS a few years ago.

Don't feel bad Cobie, If he's a Mets fan, they're probably "Dead" to him too at this point.
We Cub fans have been waiting for this Met season since 1969. I bet Santo is even jumping up and down right now... all things considered.

put your shoes up put your feet up it's time to meet up with the Boston Red Sox Boston born and Boston bred Sox RELAAAAAX and be a Sox watcher!
Don't worry though, I'm not one of those "since the Series win" fans. I've got a Rick Burleson 1975 card and a signed 8x10 of Carl Yastremski.
GO SOX!
Yank-mes suck!
Pitching and bullpen wins playoff games, because nobody hits in the playoffs. The only reason the Yank-mes are in it at all is rookie pitching and Alex Rodriguez...who seems more worried about his opt-out clause. The Sox have not been able to rely on their big hitters all season, so they're much more built for a playoff run. The team I'm most worried about is Cleveland, who I think will take care of the Yank-mes double quick. A pennant series with Cleveland is the only real bump in the road after the Angels, who are banged up anyway.
Cleveland over Yank-mes Boston over Anaheim/CA/LA Mighty Ducks or whatever the hell they are
Rockies over Phillies Cubs over Dbacks
Boston over Cleveland Cubs over Rockies
Boston wins the series in five.
The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.

For the record...I'm a Yankees fan. They train here in tampa and half of them live here. I see Jeter all the time around here (always with a different girl). Anyways, I root for the Cubs since Lou is also from Tampa as is Tony La Russa. They are also the top two managers when it comes to ejections.

Sorry I misread his wiki entry a few weeks ago. " Piniella is one of the most-ejected managers in major league history with 60 career ejections, only one behind long-time friend and Cardinals manager Tony La Russa". Both are West Tampa boys like me.

CJ, you are on track to get every one of your first round picks correct! I am humbled...(Unless, of course, things really turn around and then I shall mock your lack of baseball savvy mercilessly!)

I was originally mad that the Cubs' games were starting at 10:00 out East here... now I'm glad that I got to sleep through them... I just wish that Aramis, Lee, Soriano, and the pitchers weren't sleeping through them too.

If the Jays aren't in the postseason, I don't really care who wins, although:
- if the Cubs win, then everyone will (once the celebrations die down) have to shut up about the Cubs. So that would be good. - I made a quite public prediction before the 2001 postseason that the Yankees would not win the Series again for another ten years. So far I'm not wrong. I'd like to see that continue, and not only to be right about my prediction but because I'm sick of the freaking Yankees.

I'm three out of four so far--and my nervousness about my Red Sox facing the Tribe is waxing. It wouldn't surprise me if the series goes seven, but I wouldn't bet any money on either team. Starting pitching is about even, bullpens are about even, I'd probably give the Sox the edge in hitting....yikes! I'm just glad the Yank-mes are going home. I'm absolutely gleeful that that hateful old man is about to can the only class act in his whole organization--if Torre goes, Yank-me fans can look forward to the 80's all over again.

I just picked who I wanted to win. CJ is the expert here. Seems like he may get them all.

I think the Yankees will be okay as long as they have Cashman, who seems like something of a class act himself. It'd be nice if Steinbrenner got a wild hair and fired Cashman and turned baseball operations over to his crack baseball committee in Tampa, but if it hasn't happened yet it's probably not going to happen.

I hope so. Get a Tampa native to manage the Yanks!

I hate Steinbrenner. Love Torre. Steinbrenner is doing it all over again. The same mistakes in almost a identical cycle of the 80's. I can't wish death on a person without feeling guilty...but man, I've thought about it. Once Jeter and Posada retire, I might stop watching baseball altogether. I can't handle what the Yankees have become, even though I'm pretty big on Robinson and Melky. I hate Giambi. Hate the stupid pitching decisions. And A-Rod might be awesome but he's never come through for us in the big games when it counts. I'm throwing my support behind the Rockies. They're the only team left that I like.

Cobalt, I love Torre but every Yankee night game he appears to be half asleep. The guy is 67 and bit too laid back. With all that said he's a great manager and has a few years left IMO. BUT sometimes change is a good thing. It brings new energy just for that sake. The front office certainly has to get some good young players...not overpaid old men who are a shadow of what they were. And some PTICHING! I like Steinbrenner. He's the Jim Shooter of MLB. It's a business and he expects the best. You pay a guy 7 MIL to manage...you expect more. Joe is like a lovable uncle but...it's time to move on.
