well, it depends on your frame more than anything. I'm six foot four. I get down to the "Ideal weight" according to the old scales, and I look sickly.. and feel sickly too.
good news is, I've gotten approval to join a health facility gym with a counselor for strength training. According to them, that will help with the diabetes.
My last checkup a couple of days ago was really positive. Great kidney functions, and all my hard work at staying away from all the foods I love (natch) has it under much better control. I told them my ulitmate goal was to get off the meds all together.
It sucks to have to save up all week just to have some popcorn on sunday, but thats what it takes, that's what I'll do. thats what a family history of diabetes will do for you.
I'm sure you've all heard the joke about the dog that has one ear, one eye, three legs and answers to the name lucky. Well, that was my granddad pretty much. One eye, one and a half ears, one leg, and most of the toes gone on the other foot. My dad has had many complications with his as well. Gonna try and do my best to stay away from that.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!

Been hitting the gym more regularly... getting back to following the weight loss program I've followed successfully in the past... need to drop at least 10 pounds to start feeling comfortable again...

I just started at a health gym last night, did the intial setup. could have been better, but some old injuries kept my scores down. Only thing that was a real concern was the oxygen meter, whatever the heck that is. I walk a lot in the woods and that meant that the twelve minutes on the treadmill were a piece of cake.

I work out at home. I'm 5'8" and around 155/160lbs. Toned to muscular frame but I work hard at maintaining it. My Greek heritage makes me prone to obesity (meaning if I didn't work out I'd probably be as wide as I am tall). I try to cut down on the sweets more and more every day. I'm lucky to have my health and thank God for that everyday!
My heart goes out to you guys with the type1D ... my mother and Cathy's father are walking in your shoes.....

That damn program at the gym tried to kill me tonight. It had me start out with 25 minutes at around 6 miles an hour for about fifteen minutes, and then some smaller cycles.
I manage to finish, and then it sends me to the weights. 'bout halfway through, it sends me back to the treadmill, and then the inclined cycle.
I've dropped about 6 lbs in the last week, and for my size, I'm getting a might light at 219 lbs. But i'm startin' to feel drained all the time, between the weight loss and the diabetes and the med for it.

I actually just started a 5K training program today. I figured I do the couch-to-5K version. Even though I'm not exactly starting out at couch, I figure I'm out of shape enough that it probably wouldn't hurt to build up gradually. Plus I bought a pedometer! After all the buildup reading about how difficult it is to reach 10,000 steps a day, I was actually disappointed by how easy it was for me.

... Have you SEEN my status. I went to the gym once last week. and for a run one day last week. I threw out my scale because it wasn't working. It said I lost 20 pounds in one day. And I weighed myself the day before! damn scale was making fun of me. My biggest accomplishment so far in week one, seems to be not over eating or binge drinking! I have to go to a wedding the first week of june and I know there's going to be a lot of pictures taken .... and ... yes ... scared of those pictures!!

Went running again today...
EDE, my friend did a couch-to-5K program and did really well... I've looked at it and think I could probably start somewhere at the midway point...

Well, with my elbow they switched me over to mostly cardio and legs and trunk. I have a few small exercises to do for my arm, she called it small muscle work for a chronic sprain.
Probably shouldn't have used the bush ax and slingblade today but believe it or not, that doesn't hurt. What did hurt was using a hoe to kill a snake that got to close to Sam. Thing was dull as dishwater and thudded into the ground, which sent a shock up to my elbow.
I used a tasty analgesic to blot it out last night, but its giving me hell today.
Still, if you want to get rid of some flab around the stomach and chest, that'll do it.

Good going, Dev!
Went for a run today... there's two runs coming up I'm thinking of doing, a 4 mile and a 5 mile... finding the road much tougher than the treadmill...

No more f^&%$ing around; losing weight and excercising is now a matter of health. As in, do I wanna stay healthy or do I wanna drop dead before too long? I'm afraid I've couch-potatoed as much as I can afford to. Can't go without excercise any more.
So my plan is to document my excercise daily here. You all please feel free to ridicule and berate me if I do not report in daily.
Up early and knocked out 40 situps. Not bad since it's been months since I did a sit-up. Let's see how many push-ups I can now manage... *cringes*
10... uggh. It's a start. *gasping*
More later today, for sure.

30 more situps for a total today of 70. Also, did some sweaty-hot yardwork at Grandparents... think I am done for today.

Nothing in the way of excercise today BUT also eating very low-cal to make up for it.
I'll get back on the excercise tomorrow. Just enjoying a lazy day today.

Logged 11 minutes on WII Fit. Down 3 pounds.
Day has only just begun; I have a bit of yardwork ahead of me, which will surely raise up a massive sweat, and plan to do situps and more WII Fit later.

I started my diet 3 days ago. My diet plan is this: go vegetarian. I weighed 254 lbs (I am 6'3", btw) when I stared, and have lost a little over 6 pounds over the last 3 days. I have not really been hungry during my diet, although I do have an intense craving for a plate of nachos.
My diet is working because I gave up 3 things:
1) meat 2) bread 3) snacks
No more eating a big plateful of cheese & crackers while I watch TV.

Congrats Lance!
I had an out-of-nowhere craving for Funyuns a bit ago, so instead I cooked lima beans and added a bunch of diced onions to them. Eating 'em now, they're yum!
After this I gotta do some more WII, and situps and pushups!

Lance, The diet I got from my doctor eliminates all carbs (although because I am a fussy eater, he lets me have a sandwich at lunch - light bread though) I can have meat but it needs to be leaner than lean. Basically turkey, chicken, & fish. I can have ground beef but only as long as it is 95% lean. The rule of thumb is no more than 30% of the calories can be fat calories.
I did the exercise bike today. 1 hour 17 miles 700 calories.
