Hey, Lash, lima beans with some onions sounds really good! Thanks!

And if you give in on the Funyons, I'm a comin' over. I love those. Those, and the chicken-n-biscuit crackers!

The lima beans/onions totally got me past the Funyuns craving!!

So I logged a total of 24 minutes on WII and managed 35 sit-ups post-beans. Note to self: next time don't attempt sit-ups RIGHT AFTER eating.

Ha! Hey, I was looking for veggie burgers tonight and came up empty at the local supermarket. Does anybody eat these? What brand do you recommend, and where do you buy them?

As some of you know, my life got very stressful this spring and, as such, I fell off the wagon big time. Since March I've gained over 20 pounds.

So it's back on WW I go. Once on it, it's not hard for me to stay on the diet. It's the exercise thing that's really tough for me. No matter what, it reminds of the bane of my childhood existence, PE class. I had a disastrous meeting with a trainer some time back. I'm sure she thought she was making a workout fun, not realizing that jumping jacks would remind me of one of the most humiliating times of my life.

Enough complaining. Now it's time to do something.

Trainers are people, meaning some know what they're doing and some don't, and everything in between, she just wasn't right for you.

OTOH, extremely few of them are psychic, so did you let her know that a particular exercise was depressing you?

Experience and education is important, and by experience I mean having gone through what you're going through (if possible). If she was a 20-something just entering the business who's never battled more than that one nagging pound, I would try someone else. A good one is very valuable.

And the closer he was to what you are and the closer he is to what you want to be, the better. But granted, you may not have the widest selection to choose from, so that ideal may not be available.

At that particular gym, they only have two or three. My best friend is a regular there and he has done very well, but we have very different expectations. He wants a social place.

I think it may not be a bad idea to try to find a different gym, since I haven't been darkening that particular door.

Right, the selection of trainers often doesn't provide the right fit for everyone. By all means do try another place.

What's your goal with working out though? Building some muscle or just reducing excess weight?

I got a little good news yesterday. My employer just signed with a new health insurance provider and all employees had to take a screening. Although I am overweight, my overall health is good. The areas that were slightly high and all low enough that once I lose a little weight, they should drop to normal levels. My "healthy" cholesterol level was excellent, my fasting glucose was fine. The "health counselor" pretty much said that I just need to do what I've started doing for diet and increase my exercise.

Shiny, I'm honestly not sure what I'm looking to do. This isn't the place to go into my lifelong body image problems, but I know I have to do something. I'll keep everyone posted.

I officially hit the 10 lb mark today! Yay! I wanna take off maybe 20 more, so we'll see if I can stick it out.

The Wii fit says my ideal weight is 177 lbs, by the way. I am 6'3"! There is no way I can do that!

Congrats Lance! And I don't think 177 at 6'3" is ideal either, especially if you've got any muscle at all. At my muscle peak I think I was 177 and I'm just over 5'11.

Rock, what I wanted to relate is if you started building muscle, to not forget to take that into account while watching the scale. Meaning watch the mirror too. I've seen people worry that the number isn't going down and totally miss the fact that their pecs are getting bigger while their waist and butt were shrinking.

Muscle is twice as heavy as fat, so if you're building muscle while burning fat you might not see much movement on the scale, but you'll look a lot slimmer.

Thanks, Shiny. I'll keep everyone posted as I figure out what to do.

As for my first week back on Weight Watchers, as is usually the case when I go back on program, I lost big: nine pounds! I know that's not a healthy amount to lose after the first week and I don't expect it again.

Taking baby steps to increase activity, I've started doubling the length of Hyvvie's morning and evening walks most days. I hope to build back up to running with him again--I know he likes that! smile Krypto

Well, the second week brought a loss of another four pounds. I fully expect that will slow down a bit now. I still have 34 pounds to go.

How is everyone doing?

Hang in there - if I could do it, you can too! I've managed to reach a weight of 145 lbs, down from 200. It did take me almost 5 years, but I made it!

Haven't been "excercising" regularly but people on my Facebook probably know I've been working my ass off in other outdoorsy ways... haven't weighed but appear to be losing weight.

And am eating Cheerios now. I'll just say they are, to me, a taste I will need to grow used to. Raisins help a LOT. smile

I started eating really lite, really healthy a couple of weeks ago and went from 216 to 203. My goal is to lose fat - I don't want a belly sticking out. I use the ellyptical machine at the gym. I can't really lift weights yet because I have an injured arm, so it's not about increasing muscle right now. I don't have a target weight number (I'm 5'10"). This is also about health. I have serious cardiovascular issues in my family, so I want to overcome that.

I'm using an "anti-inflammatory" diet as a guideline.

Good going, guys!

Two more pounds down here! I'm hoping to reach my target weight by November. I did some figuring and, given a little time off at the end of next month to celebrate my birthday, I should be able to make it. smile

I am down to about 236 lbs so far. That is about 18 lbs from where I started a few months ago. The biggest changes I have noticed?

1) I have to tighten my belt another notch, and it doesn't feel like I am gonna bust out of it.

2) My tshirts don't touch my stomach nearly as much as they used to.

Anyway, onward...hoping to hit 220 someday.

At my checkup Weds. I was down 6 pounds from last visit 3 months ago. Slow but steady wins the race?

I've been going up and down these past few months, too. I'm a bit of a stress-eater. To help solve that, I've loaded my desk with apples and oatmeal so at least the closest things are healthy alternatives.
