Well, I managed to get through Christmas and New Year's without gaining everything back. I did gain a few pounds, but I'm back on Weight Watchers, so I expect that will be gone soon. Now I'm thinking about what's next. This year I think I'd like to work on my upper body. I've lost weight, but above the waist I'm still flabbier than I'd like. I know with my current schedule, getting to a gym would be very difficult--not to mention the fact that they make me very uncomfortable: it's like being in junior high school all over again! So, I'm going to see what I can do on my own.

Good Grief! I somehow managed to gain 12 lbs during December! Thank goodness I've hit my chocolate saturation point! But I've doing my best to be good since the 31st, and I'm already down 5 lbs, so that's a relief. Hopefully the rest comes off as quickly and I can move on to "virgin" fat. Rocky, I've decided to give the WW Core plan a try. I usually do Flex because I need to know I can have whatever I want, but I'm so sick of weighing and measuring! We'll see if I can stick with Core long enough to get a little kick start.

You are all doing well. Even you, Ronda, getting right back into it after the holidays.
I've not posted since mom passed as my weight loss basically stopped. I kept losing and gaining the same damn 10 pounds.
Over the last week, though, I finally think I hit the threshold and started staying stable, losing a bit. Today I lost another two pounds and finally passed the 70 pound mark for my loss. 71 pounds since the end of May.

Grats again, buddy! As for me, I weighed myself this morning, and I finally got my weight down past 175! D: Granted, I'm at 173, maybe 174 ... but I'm under that darn 5 pound marker! The doctor is letting me try lowering my medication for my diabetes too!

Good going, everyone! I haven't gone running since before Christmas--a combination of my vacation and having a slight cold and a short spell of freezing weather (we're just not ready for that in Houston ). It's 62F today and I feel fine, so Hyvvie (who is five years old today, BTW ) and I are about to head out!

An e-mail forwarded by my Mom-- After Christmas ==========
'Twas the week after Christmas, and all through the house Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse. The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number! When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber). I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared; The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please." As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt And prepared once again to do battle with dirt.
I said to myself, as I only can "You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!" So away with the last of the sour cream dip, Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip.
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished "Till all the additional ounces have vanished. I won't have a cookie - not even a lick. I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie, I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry. I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot. Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet............

Oh, that's adorable, Pov! Thanks! I just weighed in and I'm back at 170! I will confess that, deep down, I'm afraid of gaining it all back, but I seem to have settled into this weight. I hope!

Officially went back to WW on Tuesday, after about a 6 week absence. I'm up 1.8 from my last November weigh-in, but way down from my New Year's Eve high of +12! So that's good. Being totally stressed is a helluva appetite suppressant. But I wouldn't recommend it.

Weighed myself this morning, and I lost a little more weight. I'm around 171 or 172 now. So close to my goal ...

I'm still holding at 170. I'll meet you here soon, BB! It's nice to be settled in at a healthy weight. It's nice also to be able to treat myself once in a while and truly understand that it's a treat and not an everyday food. The other night I went out with friends and we went to Marble Slab and I had real ice cream! It was so good, but I'm at a point now where I love myself at this weight more than I love the ice cream. There are plenty of low-calorie treats that can fill in on a more regular basis. I can't say enough good things about WW. It's really fabulous!

Huzzah! Huzzah! Welcome to 170, BB! It's a great place to be! I've taken a few days off and I was going through old clothes. I've gathered up all my pants (trousers if any of our friends across the pond are reading ) that don't fit me any more. I have 11 pairs of 38s, 40s and 42s to donate to charity. I'm keeping the 44s for inspiration.

Hit 80 pounds lost this morning, only two days after my goal date of the end of January. Next up; 100 pounds by the first anniversary of my new lifestyle, May 31.

Congratulations, Scott! I know this has been a rough year for you and Caroline and the fact that you've been able to stick to it through it all says a lot about you. <Coke Zero.

Congratulations, everyone!
After trying unsuccessfully going on my own, I finally decided to try WW. My hubby's mom did great on it, and I think having a specific structure and someone to be held accountable to will help.
Today's my first full day on the program, and it looks like I'm gonna make it fine, though it was tough passing up that pizza that came into work today.
The doctor gave me target of 185. I'll probably shoot lower than that and try to get some back in muscle mass by starting to work out. I want to be in costume shape for San Diego!

Welcome to the club Seymour and thanks guys! Still holding steady at 340. But Caroline and I started walking today to kick start losing more. The weather finally cleared up enough. Still a ton of snow on the ground (literally) but temps in the 40's. Walked a full mile which I haven't done willingly since SDCC in 2004.
We are going to try and walk, weather permitting, at least three nights a week. I'll have to see what I can build off of that for exercise.
Assuming we do make it to SDCC this year I want to be below 300.

Yay Seymour! Are you attending meetings or are you doing WW online as I have? All the best with it!

I'm doing WW meetings at work. In one of the few pluses of my health insurance, we get a discount. And they started a Tuesday meeting (previously it was Wednesday afternoons when I go comic booking with a friend), so I thought I'd be foolish to pass up the opportunity.
This weekend was my first time grocery shopping with my WW calculator. Dang -- so much "healthy" stuff isn't that good on the point system since it takes into account all fat. And I discovered an odd loophole with breakfast cereals. There's something about the high-fiber, good-for-you cereals that makes them relatively high in calories, so a bowl of Marshmallow Fruit Loops (2 cups) is actually fewer points than a bowl of Wheat Chex or Multigrain Chex (4 for FL, 6 for WC).
I won't be stocking up on sugar cereals, though. That just seems wrong. I even double checked it with nutrition info on the Internet when I got home. I'm going to ask what cereals WW recommends because I just can't stand oatmeal, which is what the hubby's mom eats.

Woo hoo! With no more daily trips to the vending machine for a bag of Famous Amos cookies, I lost 5 pounds my first week! I feel like baking now.

Hey Fitness Nuts! I'm BAAAACK! I was just re-reading the first few pages of this thread, back in '04 when I was posting on here all the time, during the fitness challenge at work. Well, it's back and I'm signed up again.
Without going into all the details, a couple of weeks ago I was 204 pounds and I'm now 200. It's all about portion control and the elyptical machine!
I'm going to finish reading the rest of the thread and see what everyone else is up to. I do believe a certain one Lightning Lad has had some impressive results...

Just finished doing a quick read over the whole thread. First of all, I crack my own self up! Back in '04-'06, my schedule was a major factor in my health and fitness. Kids all day and work all night made for terrible food choices and too much drinky drinky!
Since then, I've switched to the good ol' 9 to 5 work week and it's pretty much forced me to eat right and drink WAY less. The thing is, I haven't been working out at ALL and I'm sitting at a desk most of the day. Hence the 204 pounds. So, since the food and drink is in check, I'll be going to the gym in the evening. I have to wait until 9pm, so I'll go then or at 10 or even 11 if I have to. I just can't get up any earlier in the morning to go then.
I congratulate those of you who have had such great results. I hope to join you!
