I'm surprised they didn't mention the extra slots in the official newsletter that came out yesterday. We'll, more spots for Vee's Legion. Does anyone else think that they are off-setting this by cancelling the printed comic book delivery? I've been waiting for them to do that for over a year now.

I'll have to redo the entire LoSV over on CoV of course, and there may be one or two other changes as well, so I'll have lots to play around with! Glad to see them doing it though if that's what it takes to keep CoV "free" for all intents and purposes to CoH subscribers. They're going to send the comics out in electronic media and still have it available in stores for those that want hard copies. That works for me because it sure isn't one I would consider collecting but it is kinda fun to read.

Thanks for the great time this afternoon/evening guys! It was a blast being back with the Legion again. Even if Garth is in desparate need of a respec. Gotta do that soon.

You should have a free one, right? If not Doc Nimbus would be glad to do the Terra Volta TF with you/

So would Marvel Kid.
Regarding the free respec that everyone got with Issue 5: The past few times that free respecs have been distributed, they have REPLACED any other free respec you may have been holding. Prior to I4 (I think) the free respecs co-existed, so you could have 2 or 3 or more saved up until you used it.
I mention this because it seems almost certain, with the change coming to enhancements when CoV goes live on Oct 31, the Devs really will have no choice but to issue a free respec to everyone. If you haven't used the one from I5, I would encourage everyone to use it before the 31st so you don't lose it.

Regarding the changes to enhancements:
I haven't found enough info to be certain but it sure does sound like there will be no more perma-hasten and perma-stamina. Not sure exactly how many slots would make the most sense in each but it certainly won't be 6 unless you have absolutely no use for slots anywhere else.
Also, if any of you have other powers 6 slotted,or eve slotted with 5 of the same enhancements and 1 of another, you may wasnt to rethink those slots as well.
These changes might mean that you would be better off having 1-2 slots in each power dedicated to end reduction and to recharge speed and passing up hasten and stamina (which also means not having to take health and hurdle/swift) If so, this would open up two other power pools to choose from.
I'll keep reading up on it and post my thoughts as we get closer to the 31st and the launch of "enhancement diversification" as they have dubbed this enhancement nerf.

What gets me is how the Devs were going to sneak this change through without letting anyone know about it until it already hit.

Thanks to Blue, Gung hit 32 tonight, got his nova and all his 35 lvl SOs. Playing a blapper is so much fun. Much better than a plain ol' elec/elec blaster.

'Grats Scott! Condo has always been sort of blapper so I know what you mean. He sure doesn't like to stay at range but gets into the middle of the battle. Much more fun but also explains why he's earned so much debt over time

When I think about it, Blue was sort of a blapper as well as he was always rushing in with his fire sword and fire sword circle ... I made a BlueIce Devil for the lil' Monster Group-- and we really gotta play them some night guys-- and I've been having a lot of fun with him because he has an ice sword I can rush in and use.

Just saw this notice posted on the CoH boards.
++++++++++++++++
City of Heroes and City of Villains Character Name Policy Change Monday, October 10, 2005
Starting 10/24/2005 the City of Heroes® and City of Villains™ character name policy will change. Names for characters under level 35 on game accounts that have been inactive for over 90 days will be changed to unreserved status. This means that those names will become available for new character names if picked by an active player. This policy is being enacted in order to free up character names based on player feedback.
If your game account is inactive for over 90 days and you reactivate your account you will need to log back in to any characters affected by this policy to move them out of unreserved name status. If your old character name has been taken by an active player, the game will prompt you to rename your character. You will be given only one opportunity to rename your character. It is possible that your character name may still be the same if an active player has not chosen to use that character name. Your global handle will not be affected.
All characters in an unreserved name status will be shown in your character selection screen; however, their photo will not be shown, indicating that they are in unreserved name status.
If you do not log into the game with a character in unreserved name status, the character’s name will remain available to any active player until you log that character into the game. Logging into the game with the affected character will change the character’s name status back to reserved.
Any questions about this policy can be directed to support@cityofheroes.com.

Okay, I've read this twice and am still confused. Does it go into effect if the character isn't logged in every 90 days or just if the account isn't paid for 90 days? It seems to read both ways which doesn't make sense.

Anyone planning to come on for Legion Night tonight? I'll be home around 8:30 (eastern) and will probably try to play.

Scott: My read is the following. It's all based on your account not the chars themselves. If your account is inactive for 90+ days, all the character names become available for selection again. If you return to the game after that point it's possible that one or more of your chars will have lost the right to their name to someone else that took it will you were gone. Once you log in that char you will be able to select a new name for him or her if their name has been taken. If it hasn't been taken, you would still be able to keep it. Of course, you would need to log in with each of your chars as soon as you re-subsscribed because the names would not become reserved until you actually log in to each of the chars and USE that name again. Were you to resubscribe and not log in to Mysa for a week or so (for example) you might discover that the name had been taken by someone AFTER you re upped because you still hadn't used it in game.

You & I are actually a good examples since you dropped CoH for a while. If you were gone for more than 90 days after your paid time ran out, this would have applied to you when you came back. If, on the other hand, your account have been active all along (like my tow accounts) but you simply haven't played Pig Pen Peanut in 160 days, you have nothing to worry about. [/b]Hmmm, guess I hit reply to instead of edit!

Mike has discovered things aren't the way described in this post. Though both accounts have been active, he discovered when he logged on that some individual toon names were messed up, and the boards are now saying 45 days.
Needless to say, people are rather upset. They just keep shooting themselves in the foot.

OK, never mind. It looks like his characters got caught up in some server trouble they were having.

Actually I think it is a ruse to make us all play the CoV beta during testing hours. Except they took away access to Training Room 1 where I was having fun playing Bub (a no-prize to anyone who know's where I got that name), my zombie mastermind.
