Has anyone played/got this yet? I just played for an hour last night and am lovin' it! I don't have alot of video game experience (at least not in these RPG style games) but so far its been easy to play. Its like an X-Men RPG where you can play up to four players (though you have to lunch the four player mode) by chosing and unlocking from like 15 X-Men! So far I've encountered Wolverine, Cyclops, Pyro, Avalanche, Blob, Mystique, Magma, Prof. X and Jean Grey. Right now I'm touring the X-Mansion and getting ready to try out the danger room (as soon as I get off work). Here's the game's website: http://www.x-men-legends.com/

Until they release a version for the PC I won't be buying it. No matter how much Caroline may want it. I can't justify buying a console system just for games when I have two high-end PCs (my laptop and our desktop that Caroline uses). I can't believe they didn't launch a PC version at the same time.

It really is a great game. I'm quite far along now and am completely overwhelmed by how many playable characters are in it. Even personal favorites who I said I'd always use haven't seen much action because you just get caught up on who's good and who has more power. I've got all the characters unlocked save for Professor X and they're all quite fun in their own ways, both in gameplay and in their interactions at the mansion.
Quite fun. I love having voices along with it, even if some of them are a little strong on the accents (Gambit, Illyana, & Colossus specifically, though they're a hoot to hear). I really love the inclusion of Emma and despite my hardcore New Mutant fan within, I quite love the retconned Magma we have here as Alison Crestmere, high school gal turned mutant.

I'm really looking forward to this one myself... I caught a great special on the game on TechTV, and it looked really cool!

I met Rogue, Iceman, Storm, and Beast last night. Rogue's accent is a little...excessive as well. I accidentally walked Iceman off a cliff and Storm followed! Somebody (I don't know which character) goes, "Shoulda seen that coming!" Heh heh heh...

If you think Rogue's is strong, wait until you hear Colossus's deep, forty-something year old Russian accent. Das and tovarisches aplenty! It space-rawks!
About to start the final mission of the game. I kind of can't believe it's over already, since Psylocke & the Professor don't become playable until so late in the game.
My favorite line in the game? When Professor X defeats someone, one of his lines includes, "Give my regards to the Dodo!" I don't know where that came from, but it's hilarious!

Ultimate X-Men #6. Magneto is attacking the president and Xavier confronts him. Mags points every gun in the vicinity at the prof and is distracted by a failed attack by Wolverine. This allows Quicksilver to run in and snatch Magneto's helmut off his head, leaving him vulnerable to a psychic attack from Xavier. His exact words were, "Goodbye old friend. Give my regards to the dodo."
I'm assuming he's making a crack about extinction.

Ooh. One of the only issues I didn't own when I collected the series! Thanks for clueing me in to the reference, Scott! With the heavy Ultimate X-Men influence on some of the design of this game, that makes sense. ...it's still a hilarious line, though.

I got it on Monday (On Sale!) and it's a blast. I'm currently on the aircraft carrier level.

So what do you have to do? Do you have to beat everyone up or what?
I got the X-Men game for the PS1 and that was pretty terrible. You had to have about 17 fingers to do all the special combo moves.

It's kind of hard to explain. It's a mission based RPG.

It's a four-player co-op RPG, essentially. You can run around with three other X-Men or have three friends play with you as you run around through different missions. Each mission has several objectives, a few levels, and tons of inanimate objects and lackies for you to destroy. The game has a huge RPG plot to it (with levels, powers, and items to match) and around 20 hours of gameplay the company said.
When one of your 15 X-Men "levels up", they get a stat point each level that can be assigned to either improve their Strike (punch), Agility (speed), Body (health), or Focus (mutant energy). You also get a point to access or level-up the variety of mutant powers, moves, or attributes (like flight, toughness, or lava/ice tracks [Iceman's ice slide!]) you have.
There's a storyline interwoven in all this, and usually after every other mission you get to run around the mansion and talk to X-Men or train in the Danger Room.
Playable X-Men include (in rough order of how you attain them): Wolverine, Cyclops, Magma, Storm, Jean Grey, Iceman, Rogue, Beast, Jubilee, Nightcrawler, Gambit, Colossus, Emma Frost, and Psylocke. Professor X you can use from time to time in specific missions (there's really only two). Havok & Marrow are in there as villains and there's some cameos or minor involvement from Forge, Multiple Man, Magik (as powerless Illyana), and Bishop (as a child; don't ask, it's scary).

Future have you been playing 1 player mostly? I want to get my friends to play the other characters but am wondering if the # of villians increases (or if their skill does). I just got to Pyro but its hard to keep everyone from dying

I actually started with two players (two of my roommates got really into it so they alternated or I got out if I felt a level was going too long) but since the weekend ended we've all been busy so I've played through the last half of the game mostly by myself.
I'm in the middle of fighting the final boss. I keep saving since a save point is right there in case I die, which is very possible right now...I wonder what (if anything) you can do after you beat the game? Could you still run around the mansion? No offense, but now that's it done I feel like there's still something missing. More people to talk to or more things to do at the mansion or something.

As for villains...some get harder, some get easier. It's not that the villains get too much harder after Pyro (save for maybe their Astral Plane counterparts...you'll see what I mean) so much as there will now be different goons running around with them or objectives you have to accomplish while fighting. Two players definitely help in some battles, but for the most part I like how one-player runs better when you're going through the levels...that way you don't have to worry about being seperated or being attacked from behind while your companion runs to the end of the screen. Two people is a must for some challenges though...definitely helped me out in the snow level and the Morlock tunnels.

I've heard you get additions costumes for the characters, like Phoenix for Jean, but don't know if you can do more than restart with the new costumes.

Actually, I was hoping for that and looking for them the whole time, but unless it's incredibly secret there's no hidden costumes. What you DO have though, and this looks to be where all the costume talk came from, are three flashback missions that send you to different points of X-history. Your characters get their old school duds for these missions only.
The three flashbacks are the first encounter with the Juggernaut (Cyke, Jean, Bobby, & Hank in their original duds), a Sentinel quest (Cyke, Jean, Kurt, and Logan in 70s duds), and a Weapon X subquest with Logan in his little skimpy outfit. On the whole, I'm kind of disappointed that was it. They could have included so many more subquests like this and I know for a fact they had the New X-Men costumes in initial game designs.
Then again, perhaps if you beat the game you can get the costumes full time? I'll look into it, but so far I've checked online and the official book and there's no mention about extra costumes...which was a missed opportunity in my book.

This is what I found and it says these are available for beating the game:
Wolverine 90's, Weapon X Original Cyclops, Cyclops 80's Original Jean Grey, Phoenix Original Beast Colussus without metal, Colussus 90's Bobby Drake, Original Iceman Street Clothes Magma Original Nightcrawler Storm's white outfit
Also, there is a cheat to get their Extreme outfits. Have you done that?

Egads! Wow, there's lots of goodies in there. I have incentive to beat the game now. Thanks for the heads up, LL! I fail at this detective work thing. The trivia game is definitely in there, and easy to find. It's mentioned on the tour you take of the mansion and there's always a green arrow above it to let you know where it is. It's a nice way to level up in the earlier stages of the game (I went through every question, shocked my roommates with how much I knew, and got Magma to level up twice just from playing the game).

I did that trivia for maybe 20 questions so far. The one question I got wrong was: Who is immune to Rogue's powers? I couldn't remember...was it Magneto from AoA? Cecilia Reyes maybe? Skids? Leech?

Magneto from AoA I'd assume, since they had a kid together. Leech might be it as well...I don't remember how I answered that one.

Actually if they are asking which X-Man is immune to Rogue's powers the answer would be Colossus.

Oh, and the cheat for the Xtreme costumes appears to be something you do when you start the game. So I'm assuming that it allows you to play the whole game with the Xtreme costumes.
