Katy Perry is far more beautiful than I knew. Wow. Avril was cute too but Katy's in another league or somrthing.
And I *loved* Katy sniping at Kara. Made me feel good to see she who unleashed "No Boundaries" upon us taken down!
Also, I was all prepared to hate Little Orphan Tranny at the end but he's realllllllllly cute so I don't. Yet.

Yes, with screechy, monotone voices! sigh
Sketch, you are so funny. Just love the Adam stuff!
Rodrick is a professional - his song was great and so was his performance. I don't quite know how to feel about him being there. oh well.
A singin' and a dancin' along the way.

I have officially selected a girl favorite!
Watch for Crystal near the end of tonight's ep, when she sings "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman".
Though I have yet to select a boy favorite, that guy near the start who sings "Straight Up" was REALLY good...

Hey, I was a good guesser last night, in line with the judges. I kept calling it right before they did, as far as who would be cut and who would go through.
I like this part, but am still looking forward to the actual show show.
Ellen was really good and her eyes looked amazing!

I agree, and would add that I really liked the guy who's baby was being born while he was auditioning. As always, I tend to like the ones who sing something less obvious, or songs that I don't know.

That's the thing about Hollywood Week, we see many good singers crack under the pressure.

I particularly like DiDi and Casey, and it's not because they're such cute kids. I just like their approaches and voices.

Paige: Interesting choice to give a hard rock song the soul treatment, but her shrill attempts at the high notes made my ears hurt. The footage of her singing "Living For the City" (Stealth informs me that Ian Gillan gave that soul classic the hard rock treatment, BTW) was much better. Guess I missed some good stuff during my American Idol hiatus. I blame Shania Twain. Ashley: "So what if I break down?" Yeah, but what if your voice breaks again and again? I'm not happy. Janell: Ah, an 80s power ballad, so Stealth is pleased. Hmmm...shame that the vocal is alternately flat and all-over-the-place. Lilly: Quirky. I don't think she's pop star material, but I could see her with a loyal cult following. And she made one of the least obvious Beatles choices -- good for her. Katelyn: Not without talent, but I think there's just something really generic about her voice. Haeley: Uh-oh. One of the most obvious Beatles choices. The new arrangement had potential, but the performance was just a mess. OMG, I typed that before Simon called it a mess. Lacey: Strong song, weak performance. Kara suggested she cover the Sundays instead -- somehow, I never imagined Kara liking the Sundays, but I'm glad she does. I hope there's a lot of people out there right now doing a search for the Sundays; their first album is wonderful. Michelle: Oh, no, I can't stand that Alicia Keys song. But wait...I'm actually enjoying it. By far my favorite performance so far tonight. Not as good as the original, Simon? Please. Didi: Terrible song choice, indulgent performance. As with Paige, the footage of her earlier performance was much better. And once again, Simon used one of the same words as me. Siobhan: Oh dear, she's going to cover that cheeseball Chris Isaak. I'm dreading this, but hope to be pleasantly surprised. Um...she has a tendency to overemote, and...I just don't like her. I didn't like the bit of "Living For the City" that she did, either; Randy needs to get his ears looked at. Crystal: Er...nice white-girl dreads. Alanis Morrissette? NOOOOOOOO! And the performance is even worse that I expected. It's torture. Unlike Ellen, I don't want to see more of her. Kara's gaffe was hilarious, though. Katie: A supper-club song gets a supper-club performance. Coming from a high school student, that's creepy.
Still "Fickles" to my friends.

AGREED re: The Sundays first album... it's one early 90s cassette I definitely need to purchase on CD. I do have their second album on CD... it isn't quite as catchy to me. My favorite song on that one is "Life & Soul" because of its simplicity and the serene, eerie, sorta-sexy fadeout repeated over and over, "all my sea, all my blue...".
Anyhoo, in a season that was supposed to be femme-strong, I find myself looking forward to the boys tomorrow. And not (just) because I'm queer.
"..Stealth is pleased"? hmmmm....

My two favorites were Lilly and DiDi. I'm not sophisticated or knowledgeable about music or music groups so I have to just go with what/who touches me when they sing.
DiDi's voice fascinates me. Her personality is a little bland on the outside but her choice of song and indulgent(yes I agree that's a great word for it) hints at other things not so compliant or simple.
Lilly reminds me of Mary, ie 'Peter, Paul and Mary', with 90's eye make-up. I loved her choice of song and look but her voice is bland, to me, anyway.
I missed the first 2 singers. Was there something wrong with the mikes or ?. In the replays at the end, they sounded just terrible!
Anyway, they're the two that I'd send home.
Casey tonight!

They should have broken up without making another one IMO. Originally posted by MLLASH: "..Stealth is pleased"? hmmmm.... Originally posted by Candle: DiDi's voice fascinates me. I've decided that after last night's disappointing show, it's not worth the effort and energy to be on the computer and watching the show at the same time...at least, not until they're down to the Top 12. I'll still be watching the show, but until the Top 12, I'll be posting my thoughts in the morning, working from memory.
