I actually agreed with Randy's comment about Adam's performance of "One" I thought it veered too far from the original melody. But when I listened to it again, I was okay with that. I guess the newness threw me off. Adam's version of "Cryin'" was spectacular. I hope he's in the finale next week and I hope he wins.
Kris did a great job with both of his songs. In fact, I was quite impressed with his Kanye West song.
I wasn't so impressed with Danny tonight. I love Terence Trent D'Arby, but I agree with Simon about how there are so many other better songs. Danny should not dance. He looks way too goofy. He did a good job with YASB, but that song is too simple. There are so many songs with more meat to them that Danny could have done.
Lash, I think Danny tends to be too wordy when he speaks. That annoys me too. The thing is, I like his music better than Kris' over all, so I hope it's Danny vs. Adam next week.

Besides his whiny voice, I don't like the sympathy mileage that he got in the beginning, using his wife's death. And his attitude towards the mentors suggestions. Anyway, his second song was lovely, if simple. I REALLY enjoyed Kris tonight! Especially the song he picked out himself. I love it when he plays and sings! Simon's pick for Adam was the only one of the judge's songs that I liked. As always, Adam was wonderful! I started voting early, during the show, and it worked! I voted a lot before the busy signals started. Like LLASH, I voted mostly for Adam and some for Kris. I can't wait for tomorrow!

fave moment: Danny complains he wants it to be over, then Adam says he wants to see Katy Perry!
Then... she walks out with ADAM LAMBERT emblazened upon her cape! AWESOME!
Danny sucks!
Jordin's song was catchy!
Now... WHO WILL IT BE?!?!?!
OH GREAT SPACE!!!!!

88 million votes? Wow. Just wow.
Good for our two finalists. I personally think they were the best choices if Allison could not be there.

As for why I think they were the best choices...
Click Here For A SpoilerBoth were, to me, tops at interpreting songs in a new way. And that seems to be what was giving the judges woodies this year.... FAMILIAR!!!! Yet... DIFFERENT! These 2 excelled at it. Based on vocals only I'd say it should have been Adam vs. Allison, which I would have probably preferred. Still, it's kinda kewl that Kris came out of NOWHERE into the top 13. I mean, he had NO BACKSTORY at ALL or pimp-time during audition rounds or Hollywood week. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually beats Adam. He is the epitome of 'American Idol' as far as watching a talented underdog rise from 'nothing' to stardom. Plus that groovy all-American wholesome demeanor. He might take it all. Adam will be OK either way.

I'm glad Kris made it to the final because the top 2 get album deals for sure. 88 million votes! People REAlly wanted to get their favorites in the final 2. I know I must have voted a million times, myself! Just kidding. geez Danny will do great on his own, just like Allison will. I'm sure they'll both make lots of deals and albums and money. I'm surprisd to find that I'll actually kind of miss Danny. His last song was very moving for me. Adam's in the final. Whew! I'm dancing a jig! I wish we'd gotten to see him with his family, even a little. (Granted, Kris and his dad would have been a tough act to follow.) But he was great with the kids from his theater group. He just has so much charm. Speaking of charm, I loved the boy from Africa, was Noah his name? What a little darlin' he was. sigh

I wasn't home tonight, but I recorded it on tivo. I watched some of it, but then skipped to the end.
I'm not really surprised that Danny was out even though I prefer him to Kris.
As usual, I hope Adam and Kris both sing the same song in the finale. I prefer when they do that.
Funny, it was Top Model finale night. I realized that my 3 most favorite shows - AI, Top Model and Project Runway - are very much like a Legion tryout issue - contestants showing their gifts in front of a panel of judges. Heh!

It's funny how long the 'tryouts' are for those shows, though. The initial phase is short, but that's just the beginning. The Legion should go through at least that long of a process ~ a year, say, since the consequences are life and death.

You make an esxcellent point, Shady...
now I'm wanting to see something like reader-style election votes for new Legionnaires...
Intro 4-8 new characters as 'potentials', have them rotate appearances for 12 months within the storylines and tally reader votes as they are mailed in.

Er, wasn't sure if you guys would mind if I posted this here, but I just saw 'Rock of Ages' on Broadway last night starring Constantine from Idol a few years ago. Its the 2nd time I've seen him on Broadway. He actually is pretty damn rocking in person, and he's definitely got that Broadway quality about him. FYI, Rock of Ages is non-stop 80's hair metal music with an awesomely fun story around it--perfect for Constantine I think (I don't watch Idol but it seems that way).

Constantine portrayed himself as a rocker on Idol, but every now and then he'd let his musical theater background show. It seems like he's found the perfect venue!

You, and anything you have to say, are always welcome on any thread, CK!
It's good to know what happened to Constantine. I was just wondering about him.
I'd love to see 'Grease' on Broadway, too, since it has Taylor Hicks starring in it.
I wonder if that's where Adam will go next?

C'Tine was actually just nominated for a TONY AWARD for his role in 'Rock of Ages'. (my source: Entertainment Weekly magazine) The first Idol alum to achieve this.

I can easily see Kris taking this all the way.
That said, I voted 12 times for Adam and will try to throw in a few more.
DIALIDOL.COM currently has Kris ahead by a slight margin.

I only watched the final- I kind of wish they could tie. They're both listenable in very different ways. Adam seems like he can sing a wider variety of music. Kris seems more limited- but very good within that.
I liked both of their first songs the best for each of them, and liked Adam's 'producer round' song quite a bit better than Kris's. It seemed like he was actually singing *about* something. I don't think the third song really suited either of them.
Did anyone watch the show that came after? GLEE? I think I have a new favorite. It hooked me when the hunky football guy pulled the guy in the wheelchair out of the port-a-potties, preventing his football buddies from tormenting him. That and Jane Lynch as a tightly wound cheerleading coach. And the clip where the teacher's wife said 'Did it fall out?' when told she wasn't pregnant.

Not looking at other posts....
I thought both guys did a good job on their repeat songs. I prefer Adam's song, but I prefer his original performance.
Adam KILLED Kris on the second round. Wow, Adam got all Patty LaBelle on it, and it was amazing. Kris was way too mellow with his song.
GAH! Kara's song was TERRIBLE. Even as Adam sang it, I was grossing out and excusing him. When Kris sang it, I was grossing out at the song and his performance. I wonder if Kara feels bad that the song was not good for either of them. Also, I bet it would be good for Danny!
Totally sticking by my early favorite, Adam! I'm going to a friend's house tomorrow night to watch the finale. Should be fun.

I love both young men, but I'm sticking by Adam for the win ~ he's just the best. Kara should be ashamed of that song. But in the couple of years that I've watched Idol, none of the ending songs have been very good. sigh I voted until my phone died. (Stupid phone!) And yes, I really enjoyed 'Glee'. Darn, I really didn't want to get hooked on a new show for the summer!

Click Here For A SpoilerAmerica hates gays. Just kiddin'.
America likes underdogs and I was totally expecting Kris Allen to win. Good for him. Now Adam can finish the summer tour and go straight (no pun intended!) to Broadway, which I think he probably would rather do anyway... AFTER recording a cd of duets with Allsion, of course.
I can't be mad about Kris winning because the kid IS talented and IS sweet and IS humble. He himself said he felt Adam deserved the win, after he won. Who can be upset about that?
Tonight's finale was quite the spectacle, wasn't it? KISS? Hello, that kicked ass.
Best surprise: I was delighted by the Michael Sarver/Megan Joy duet, the bluegrassy number that Steve Martin played banjo on. Loved it!
I think Adam has raised the bar for AI. Next year should be interesting.

And you got to hear him sing with Queen!!! I'm just in awe of this finale. The duets were amazing and wonderful! Prince and Josh Groban weren't there, but the 13 were! Adam held his own with Kiss and Queen and I WILL buy his album. I hope he does much more than Broadway. I want to see him, a lot, and I never will if Broadway is all that he does. I want him in movies and on TV and every other type of media possible. sigh I love Kris, too, darn it, so I can't be sad. His songs were fantastic, loved his duet with the other guitar player. They should do that song together on Kris' album. It's just that no one is as good as Adam. What a fun show! I loved all of the matchups. Allison and Cindy jammed it! I agree that the Megan/MIchael song with Steve was one of the top 5 highlights of the show, and that's saying something! Martin got a yelp of laughter out of me, too. A long shot, indeed.

Well, I'm upset that Adam didn't win! I preferred him by far.
And I liked Gokey better than Kris. And Allison. And Matt. I even liked Michael better. What do I know?
Oh well, I know Adam'll be fine.
The finale was quite a good show. My friend and I had a good night.

Adam's and Kris' new CDs are out!
I haven't heard either but the covers are what you'd expect ~ Kris' is nice.
Adam's is hilarious and rather retro. It reminds me of the Rolling Stone era of dressing like women.
I'd love to see him on Glee!
