It just didn't make sense to me that Carly and Syesha were in the bottom. It totally should have been Jason and Brooke... but whatever... Michael shouldn't be gone yet, either, so what do I know. Oh, and Bo didn't win and Carrie Underwood is the biggest selling AI artist ever.
Anyway, I'm glad it was Carly that went and not Syesha.
I've asked a few people I know (one of them an actual musician) what they thought of Brooke stopping and re-starting. Everyone said she did the right thing. I simply wasn't sure what to think of that. My earlier comment was that it was a good song for her voice, and I stand by that. In fact, I think she did the song quite well.
So, Carly has never been a favorite of mine. I know she's very talented, but she has bad taste in songs. I wish her the best. Maybe she'll make it with original songs?

Off the op of my head, my favorite Season 7 moments...
Archuleta's "Imagine"
Michael's "Across the Universe"
Michael's "It's All Wrong But It's Alright"
Syesha's "Vanishing"
Kristie Lee's "Forever"
David Cook's "Always Be My Baby"
David Cook's "Little Sparrow"
I might have different opinions at another time, but for now, that's my opinion.

Add Syesha's "One Rock and Roll Too Many." Can't get it out of my head!

This has been a good year. My favorite moments are (if I can remember)
Carly singing that Beatles song - was it "Get Back"? I don't like the song but she almost made me like it, she was so good.
Syesha's "one rock and Roll Too Many" was one of the best Idol performances ever.
David Cook had so many memorable performances, but the one I remember the best, because it was so surprising, was "Billy Jean." I don't care for the song, but he made me love love it.
Brooke singing "You're so Vain."
Jason singing "Over the Rainbow."
Michael Johns singing "We are the Champions".
David A. singing "Imagine."

I only saw Brooke last night (mostly because I'm just very, very bored of most of the contestants this year) but I didn't quite understand why the judges gave her such a hard time. It wasn't an absolutely stellar performance but I thought it was pretty good.
That said I am so glad that Simon undermined Paula about the stopping thing. Paula's insistence that you should just carry on and 'sing from the heart' is complete and utter bollocks. Every time someone on AI has forgotten the words they've been slated for it. Brooke did exactly the right thing in starting over without making a fuss about it. It made her look far more professional than if she'd just mumbled her way through forgotten words.

Now I'm gonna kinda regret starting this, because there are actually a lot of standout performances. I loved Jason' Hallelujah and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I liked Brooke earlier on. And I still like that kid that didn't make it who sang Grace Kelly! BTW, he's been very consistent except for that lyric hiccup, and he's not my top favorite, but I do believe that Archuletta's gonna win it this season.

Syesha and David Cook tie for my favorite performances, I really liked them both a lot. I didn't care for Brooke or Jason tonight, at all. Archuletta hung in the middle.
I think it'll be David vs David in the finale, but I'm not very Naltorian!

I'm thinking the two David's in the final too which fills me with great ennui. They can both sing but one is horribly dull and the other irritates me hugely. Personally I'd like to see Syesha and Brooke in the final but it's never going to happen.

Well of course I loved Brooke again last night, particularly her second song. I can't fairly judge anyone else as, due to an unexpected surge in business at my new-ish night job, Brooke was the only one I saw both performances of.
But I *can* say I enjoyed everyone in the first round well enough, with Jason as probably my least favorite.
Oh, and everyone in the bar let out either a laugh or sigh of disgust as drunk Paula jacked up what should have been a simple commentary on the round one performances. How embarassing for her!

David v. David seems like a sure thing for the final, but I've certainly been surprised by Idol before....

I'm with Sketch Lad. Syesha and David Cook were my favorites and they are the singers I'd like so see in the final two. The last two weeks I've voted for Syesha 10 times each night because I'm afraid she's in jeopardy (although I can't understand why). Normally I never vote.

I took last night off but was so tired (I've been working 60-70 hour weeks between both jobs) that I was in bed before 6pm. I slept right through AI.
but I've heard Brooke's exit was memorable and emotional. I'll certainly miss her and be watching for her CD, which I've no doubt will come. Maybe she'll get to collaborate with John Mayer.

So, it's Cook all the way for me! I can't stop listening to "All I really Need is You." It's that AI perfect thing that happens when I don't know a song and someone does it really well and it makes me like it and seek it out, etc. I've since heard Neil's version, which is fine but a tad dull next to Cook's. This made me kinda go back and listen to other Cook Greats. He's cool.
Man, he has a giant head, though, huh?

How weird! They had the biggest library of music available to them, and it turned into karaoke night. My least favorite to most favorite....
Jason. Wow. He just didn't deliver. I've liked him a lot throughout the season, but tonight it was really like he ran out of gas.
Cook. So, last week I was convinced that he should take it all the way, then this week he sings Hungry Like The Friggin' Wolf. Bah! His song by The Who was much better, but actually, not by much.
Archuletta. Consistent and well done. I just don't find him very interesting. I should be looking forward to his performances, but I'm not really. Still, he's good.
Syesha. First of all, she looked blazing hot! I like her with long hair and that girl can fill out a dress! I thought it was fun that she did "Proud Mary" but it was a Tina Turner impersonation, but without the TT energy. I love that she felt so connected to "A Change is Gonna Come" but my critique is that she doesn't seem to have any pain in her voice. No blues. I don't wish the blues upon her, but it does help tell the story. Otherwise, her vocal was very nice.
If Syesha gets cut and Jason makes it, I'll scream! I mean, something bizarre could happen like one of the Davids getting cut. Seacrest said it... Tamyra and Daughtry were both in 4th place!

Last night was a joke, possibly my least favorite episode of AI ever.
Dean, you said it, I *should* look forward to li'l David A's performances, but I just don't. Gawd, just imagine the weepy ballads and awful pseudo hip-hop they're going to force him to perform on his CD after he wins... *cringe!*
At this point, I'd rather this season's Sanjaya, Jason Castro, would win.

Last night I again liked Syesha the best and voted for her 10 times in the hope that she will survive this week - she certainly deserves to. The first part of her Proud Mary was excellent and she was really sexy. She got lost in the faster part though. I loved her doing A Change is Going to Come.
Jason Castro's Bob Marley song was awful and I had to fast forward through it. However, despite forgetting the words, I thought Jason did a really nice job on Mr. Tambourine Man. I closed my eyes to listen and is was really very good. That's his comfort zone.
David Cook's song choices weren't good and that hurt him. I still think he's the most versatile and commercially viable of the guys.
David Archuletta, I'll have to admit, did a pretty good job on Stand by Me. I hated his Love Me Tender - you don't put runs (even very minor ones) in an Elvis Presley song (my new rule). That said, as you've all remarked. he's just boring and his zone is limited to treacly ballads. However, the judges seem to be falling all over themselves to praise him. I guess they know their market.

Castro has got to go. He is putting little to no effort into his singing or playinh. And I thought this before Paula's flub.
I miss Brooke.

Charming? I was thinking more like big stoner myself. The more he talks the stupider he sounds.

Oh, he's DEFinitely a big pothead, but lots of stoners are charming too.
Okay, so next week Syesha goes then we have David v. David and Archuleta is crowned the queen! Pre-DIC-table!

TONIGHT, TUESDAY:
MY OPINION:
All it took was David Cook doing a masterful version of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"... I want him to win. And I think he will.
BF's OPINION:
David Cook should win because he will sell more pop/rock albums.... David A has a better voice but he is more 'Christian Contemporary'.

What crap! The judges are building up little Archie and trashing Syesha in order to have a David/David finale. Syesha has more talent in her left upper rear molar than" sappy ballad boy."
So," teenage talent show boy" was as boring as ever tonight. I can't remember a thing he sang. He'll probably win the whole damn thing and carry on the mediocrity of AI.
Syesha was brilliant with Fever. The judges were on crack criticizing her.
David Cook gave me goose-bumps with "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." The guy is brilliant.
It won't happen, but it should happen --- the final two should be Syesha and David Cook. They're both so talented.
"High school boy" is so limited right now. That's not to say he can't grow, but he's no American Idol, despite the fact that he will probably win and I will probably rant to the wind as impotent as that exercise may be.

Semi, I agree the judges were unduly harsh on Syesha... they definitely either want a David v. David finale, or they know something we don't know about the current vote stats and were maybe preparing her for it.

There was nothing wrong with Archuletta's performance of the Billy Joel song, but it didn't grab me. He was terrible on the Chris Brown song... he seemed 80. OMG... Dan Fogelberg? Now he's 90! Wow. I guess his fans are a mighty texting force!
Syesha did a lovely job on the Alicia Keys song. Her campy "Fever" was fun, but not innovative at all. And her last song, was it a Rhianna song?, was lame. I'm not surprised she was voted off, and I'm sure she'll be Broadway bound!
Cook was excellent on "FTEISYF"!!!!! Perfect! I liked the second rock song, too. I didn't know it, but if you told me it was one of his own I'd believe it. He did well on the Diane Warren/Aerosmith song, too. Nothing new with it, but solid.
I'm really looking forward to the finale! I can't wait to hear these two perform original songs. Right now I hope Cook wins, but I'll give Archuletta a chance.
