Y'know, I always wonder how they decide which *good* auditions to show. In a way, it gives those people an advantage if they make it through the Hollywood rounds. Just because there's already something of a fan base.
I mean, I already want Sundance to win!

Well, it seems there was plenty of talent in New York, so we'll see how everyone does in Hollywood. The only problem is, it seems we won't be done with audtions yet. Oh well, maybe there'll be some interesting entertainment....

Query: Did they abolish the 28 cutoff age? Because one of the auditioners from NY was clearly labelled as age 47 (he was the man who 'sang' "New York, New York").

Does anyone own Daughtry's album? Is it worth the money?
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Lash, I noticed they let some older people audition, too. I also noticed that they're usually "novelty" auditions and never very good.
Sundance still stands as my favorite, even though they have shown some very interesting good singers. As I said before, it seems like there will be a very mixed bag in Hollywood. Of course, I'm always very easily impressed by a pretty lady who can sing, so I look forward to the competition.

I skipped last night, only saw the last 5 minutes or so. From Randy and Simon's reaction to the last contestant, I hadn't missed much in the way of real talent.

I did mention that Daughtry's album has gone platinum and remains in the top 10 while Taylor debut and Fantasia's sophomore album are out of the top 50, didn't I?
Manwhile, Carrie Underwood's cd has gone 5x platinum and remains in the top 20. Looks like Simon's prediction about her selling more albums than any other Idol winner might have been spot-on.
re: last night;
ENOUGH with the over-age nonsense auditions. Are these people wanting to embarrass themselves? I am referring specifically to Margaret, the big 50-year-old lady in the canary yellow. WHY?!?!

Well, the old guy in Wednesday night's audition was worth letting them (the elders) continue. I was BALLING along with Paula! (His wife was on her deathbed as he put together a petition to let him on the show.He said it kept her in a positive state of mind. Sigh...) Aw, I was tired and my wife's outta town. I'm sensitive.
I really liked Anastasia's and X-tina's former back up singer! I wanna see him versus Sundance!
Looks like next week, I'll get to see a real purty girl from Texas sing it! I love that.
The judges are just kooky nowadays. Absolute power and all....

I'm sensitive too, Dean... the 60ish guy who sang to his departed lady brought a tear to my eye as well. And... his singing voice was lovely. I thought Simon and the judges handled him with pure class.
Less classless was the way they handled poor confused Eric (the guy who had trained using Paula & Randy's DVD) at the end... but I had to admit that was hilARious!

The one complaint I have with it is the sameness of the songs though, instrumentally. I will say it is good to hear this type of music, rock but not heavy or too light, with a singer that you can understand every lyric. Too many mumble their way through nowadays. This is done with, from what I've heard, studio musicians. And the next album is supposed to have the "real" band. But I had no problem with giving iTunes my ten bucks. Especially since they offered a bonus track not on the CD or available from other electronic sources. Same reason I bought Evanescence's new album from them.

At the AI website, they have a video of Chris singing the national anthem. He does a very good job, adding some of his characteristic intonations. His ending wasn't crisp, but it wasn't bad, either.

Pretty mellow auditions in San Antonio. No real drama, which was fine. The purty blonde lady is actually a girl of 16. Oh well. She's very cute.
Just a side comment real quick... I just don't care for Katherine McPhee. I don't have the McPheever. She's definitely beautiful, but I'm not interested in her at all. I don't know why. I even saw her on the Tonight Show a bit ago. Weird.

bailey brown, awwwwwwwwwww, aint she a sweetie. But i found the one singing Black Velvet was just unbelievable, like simon, i never undrstood a word she sang. The girl who was so "shy" turned out to be not so shy at the end of her sad audition, these people deserved to be humiliated.

Oh, I was totally surprised that they let Weird Faces Girl come back and try again. I've never seen that before. She really does distort her beautiful face in bizarre ways when she sings. I hope she can get it together before the Hollywood rounds.
AMERICAN IDOL REWIND is back. Last weekend, they showed ten of the semi-finalists do their performances. Tamyra Gray and Ryan Starr and Jim Verrero were in that group. It was a really goood group overall! A couple of the guys, in particular, would have been great on the show. I think next week they'll show Kelly Clarkson's and Justin Guarini's group. Should be good! (I'm very pleased to be seeing season 1 now.)

I've been following AI REWIND off-and-onnish; it IS fun to watch!
Yeah, Second-Chance Girl last night-- Simon must have REALLY wanted her badly, she has to be a AI first.

GO Lip-Piercing Lass! I also liked the Roller Skater Girls.
Tonight was a nice end to the audition episodes; it seemed to me tonight they focused more on the good auditions than the bad.
I'm geared up for HOLLYWOOD next week--- the tears are going to flow like rain!

Wasn't there another episode tonight? My DVR didn't record one so I'm thinking it conflicted with Lost or Knights of Prosperity.

Wednesday night's show was a "round up" of auditions.
Yeah, that Ebony with the roller skaters was so beautiful and can SANG!
Hollywood is going to be really interesting because they're making it seem like it's going to be tougher than ever. I noticed in the preview that my man Sundance said something like, "I better do something right or I'll be outta here!"
I have high hopes for this season because I didn't feel very connected to last season.

Last year was the first year I really connected with one of the singers. I loved Bo but he was more like the 70's Country/Rock I grew up with and not the music I like now. But Chris was perfect. I'm hoping that Sundance or someone else hits that same note with me.

That's really cool, Scott. I'm happy for Daughtry's success, too. I liked his performances a lot, last season. He and Mandisa and Elliott were my favorites. I just wasn't into Taylor or Katherine. In previous seasons, I've been able to follow my faves into the top two, so last year was a let down for me.

Carrie won a couple of grammies last night! I just read an article at yahoo about how the show keeps churning out artists who are actually succeeding in the music industry, getting nominations and awards. I knew it all along!
Looking forward to tomorrow night!
Oh, over at Rewind, Kelly, Justin and AJ just earned their spots in season 1's top ten! Boy, there was a lot of good competition back then, too!

They narrowed 170something down to 40! Sundance is still there, but cute Bailey Brown is gone!
I'll watch it again for more details, but wow, Hollywood seemed tough!

I'm really surprised Sundance is still around. Thanks to Paula he made it. His performance wasn't the best on either day.
I'm pleased, though, that Chris made it through. They funny, curly headed, heavy set kid. He's become a real favorite.
