I didn't even know who Fuel was until Chris sang one one their songs on AI. I'm sure there are many more like me out there, so I'm sure it could be very good for Fuel if Chris decides to do it. I mean, he could always back out if he wanted to, right?

God! Chris drew me into this season of AI...I hate that he's gone! IMO his vocals have been the best consistently in every episode I've seen. Taylor's just goofy, Cat's beautiful but very inconsistent and Elliott looks like a hobbit! Damn...what were AI fans thinking when they voted for the other three above Chris?!?!
I don't see any reason to watch the last two episodes. None of these three will have the success outside of AI that Chris will. I hope he decides to do his own thing rather than go with fuel or another established band. I'd rather he blaze his own path. And if his own band (shown in some AI crowd shots) is good enough to back him, it would be a real hosing for him to dump them.
In any case Chris...best of luck! Apparently America had no taste!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

I'm done with AI.
Apparently though, I'll be getting the new Fuel CD eventually.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

[countingchickens] Well, Elliott and Katharine had shining moments tonight but it's time to congratulate
our next American Idol, TAYLOR HICKS!!!!! Woo-Hooooo!
He was awesome on all three songs, "Danicing In The Dark", "You Are So Beautiful" and "Try A Little Tenderness"!
Even Simon has given in now that his only hope of defeating Taylor (Chris) was booted last week. YAY, Soul Patrol!! [/countingchickens]

Well, shoot! I missed 2/3rds of the show! I did see the last 3 performances, though, and I did think that Taylor seemed to really step up. He looks a lot better with his hair styled like that than with the straight bangs....
Elliott was good, too. So, I guess I'm hoping it's Elliott vs. Taylor in the finale.

Interesting numbers, if the percentages Ryan gave were true to an even 50 million votes being cast:
16,530,000 - 3rd 16,630,000 - 2nd 16,840,000 - 1st

Yeah, it's pretty much Taylor's win.
Kinda sucks for the one voted off, those numbers are pretty close. And I would have preferred that one over the one who made it, too.

It isn't that I hate the final two (or even the final three), I just feel Chris was the best. By far he was the best out of all five seasons, to me. I've supported Taylor from the start, just because he was the odd ball and seemed to have more soul than the other two. Elliott kind of grew on me but I couldn't get past the funky looking faces he makes while singing. And Kat is good, but she should be doing Adult Contemporary or even opera, not Top 40. She'd be good in Phantom.
So, I guess I'm pulling for Taylor but it'll be Chris' albums that I buy; Fuel, solo or with a new band.

Well, last night's final performances have me all revved up for tonight's big finale!
I'm still rooting for Taylor all the way. Tried on and off for hours to vote last night and finally managed to get one vote through for him.
That "Do I Make You Proud" single will be the first AI-single I've ever bought when it is released. I'm hoping "Levon" will be the other track on it!

I'm actually happy for **you** Lash! And I congratulate Taylor. I wish him the best.
I wasn't as enthusiastic this year as I have been in the past.
There's always next year, I guess.

Aww, Kat. I guess the KAT VOTING PARTY I went to didn't help. This is the first AI that my favorite didn't win, but I can't begrudge Taylor the win. He is not my personal taste, but I realize he outperformed the rest of them, and I do sort of like the idea that AI's winner is an almost 30 year old gray haired dude. AND he does make that hunk o'crap "Do I Make You Proud" into something listenable.
I think Kat saw the handwriting on the wall, and was relieved it was about to be over--thereby turning in her best performances all season. She was great all last night. I know a lot of people hated her duet with MeatLoaf, but I enjoyed. It was as if she let loose all the drama geek theatrics she's been trying to supress all season! Yeah, she might wind up being "only" a Broadway star, but I'll definitely be supporting whatever she does in the future.

I loved the finale, too! This is the first season that I watched the whole story from beginning to end and rooted for Taylor all the way. Chris and the others were fun, but Taylor was just such a bright star, funny and beautifully voiced. sigh Too bad the tickets are 200 and 300 dollars a piece. Shady
Let the games thrive, friend and foe alike.
But, . . . the time is shorter than we think.

Alright, I have to admit that after watching the finale show on tape again, it's very easy to be a Taylor Hicks fan.
The first time I heard "Do I Make You Proud" I thought it was SO cheesy, but after listening again, it's quite sweet, and Taylor delivers it very very well.
I like Taylor a lot. Will I buy his cd? I dunno. I suppose if there are some more cool songs released as singles, it could sway me.

I don't listen to the radio very much, since I hate most of the music/commercials I hear all the time. However, while I was getting my hair cut today, I heard "Do I Make You Proud" on the radio for the first time. Yeah, it's pretty cheesy, but it really wasn't bad. I don't know if Kat's "My Destiny" could ever be listenable though--and I love her.
On the tvguide.com site, they ask Kat McPhee if she'd be interested in playing Wonder Woman!

The "Do I Make You Proud/Takin' It To The Streets" cd single is slated for release 6/13.
But I think I'm going to wait and just get Taylor's full album release. "Takin' it To..." is on the AI5 cd which I am already going to get anyway.

Hey, thought I'd dust off the good ol' Idol thread and mention that I've been TiVo'ing Americand Idol REWIND. They've gone back to the first season and are showing highlights. They're already onto the Hollywood rounds, meaning they've already shown all the audition madness. They play current interviews of the cast talking about what it was like back then. Kinda cool.
The thing I like to see is how everyone looked and sounded before the actual weekly series began, with all the stylists at play, etc.
Young Kelly Clarkson looked kinda cute, but very... shall we say.... blank canvas. I had never heard her first audition before. She did Madonna's "Express Yourself." She sounded good, but she did flub a lyric or two! In Hollywood, she was one of only a few who did well in the "Trio" audition. Obviously, she made it.
Justin Guarini looks the same now as he did back then. His grooming has always been the same. I think he had a haircut after AI, but the curls seem to be back again. He always did well on that show. I recall that it was a very close vote for the winner.
I look forward to the rest of the episodes being replayed (re-wound?). I've patched together a bunch of the performances, via the net, but I didn't really start watching Season 1 until the very end. I remember that Kelly and Tamyra were always awesome! I think you either like or don't like Justin. He's a tad cheesy. The others seem to have faded...

Enough chitchat-- here's my rundown from best to NOT the best!
1. JENNIFER; As far as I'm concerned, the best of the Divas Three. Loved her since she sang "Imagine". I think she can sing anything well!
So, the young lady who was sent home on AI after a mind-staggeringly fantastic version of "Weekend in New England" is now winning raves (and acting award nominations) for DREAMGIRLS, and the album just skyrocketed up to # 3 on BILLBOARD. Does my heart good to see this. Other AI album news: Chrtis Daughtry's album has already gone platinum, and Taylor Hicks' is plummeting like a rock already.

I bought Chris album already. Not too bad. At little sameness on the tracks but for a rushed first effort I thought it was good. Didn't bother with Taylor's.
