Here's the deal, though.... I don't want Katherine to be eliminated. I like her more than Paris.
My wish for the rest of the season (unless something happens to change my mind)....
Paris goes tomorrow night, then Katherine, then Elliott...
then Taylor and Chris battle it out at the finale. Only after I see that show (because they'll probably both sing the same song) would I know who to pick.....
Heh! We shall see....

I don't even like the 'black cherry horse' song that katherine did but I really liked her performance. I liked both Chris' performances. Paris' second one was a'ight, and both Taylor and Elliot's performances were mid to mid-high to me.

Just read the headline about who was booted.
Um, I'm good with it.

Yeah, I'm OK with it too. It has to be said though that of the five left after the departure of Kellie I wouldn't have any objection to any of them winning. I would like the final to be between Katahrine and Chris but then I also really like Taylor and Elliot and when Paris is good she's really good. Oddly enough though none of them really stand out for me as being majorly better than the others unlike in previous years. I like Katharine most as a performer but she's possibly not technically the greatest singer of the bunch and Chris is hot and can sing fantasticaly but does have a tendency to shout as well. They all have things that detract from their performances that are noticable enough to make me question how good they are, which is a shame. Not to say any of them are *bad*, they're clearly not, I just sometimes feel that the final five lack a little something. They're worthy of being the final five but I would want something a little extra to be shown by whoever eventually wins.

It was totally Elliott's night. He picked the perfect songs for his voice. He was awesome!
Taylor and Chris were very much themselves, both good.
Katherine just seemed messy and out of her league.

Elliott was really good. i actually liked Katherine's first song (the second one kind of petered out). Chris' songs were good until that last harsh screaming bit at the end of his second song. Taylor's was..ehn, alright.

The fact that Katherine forgot a line during the song was a telltale sign. She shouldn't have tried being clever and making a medley of "Hound Dog" and "All Shook Up"!! Taylor's performance of "In the Ghetto" was really good, but I found it to be a strange choice visually for a young grey haired white guy! He nailed it though! Looks like Idol 5 may be a guy, since Katherine had the weakest night...but you never know with the fanatics out there.

WOW-- really enjoyed Elvis night!
I thought Taylor, Elliott and Chris were each excellent.
Poor Katharine-- I enjoyed her little medly, I thought it was cute, but she jacked up "Can't Help Falling In Love".
I wouldn't really mind seeing an all-guy Top 3.

Well, that was the end of Idol for me. At least the person voted off tonight will get to make the kind of music that means something to them and not have to record the Pop drek that's all over Top 40 radio because of their Idol contract.
Bring back Rockstar INXS!

OK, so from teh above comments I think I can guess who went but since I'm away this weekend and won't get to see it (plus our Sky box died last night so I probably wouldn't have got to see it this weekend anyways) can someone spoil me?

Scott, The ROCKSTAR show this year will be a new band formed from other bands....Tommy Lee on drums, Jason from Metallica and a guy from Guns N Roses. I saw an ad for the auditions and considered for about a second going to try out, but realized that I could never do it.....
I *just* read at the yahoo group who was voted off and I'm totally bummed out! I don't even care who wins now.....

Thanks for the info Dean. Hadn't heard that they would do another round of Rockstar but glad they are giving it a try. I enjoyed those performances much more than most of AI. And I'm with you, I really could care less who wins AI now. Of the final three, Taylor is the only one I'd even consider buying an album of but it would have to be a great album.

Yep, as suspected. That is a bit of a surprise but I was talking to Paulette here at work about it last week and really of the final four he is the least mainstream and so was most likely to lose out simply on the basis of mass appeal rather than actual talent. I do like the ones that are left but I'm not sure I'd buy their albums. Of course that being said of the previous winners (most of whom I did really like) the only one that I'd consider buying an album of would be Fantasia, and i don't even know if her album has been released here in the UK.

Y'know I like Taylor quite a bit, but like most people, I assumed the "Elvis who left the building" this week on AI had the thing locked up.

Bah! Enough with this "not naming who got tossed" stuff...
AKA: SPOILERS!
I had Taylor pegged early on to win this thing, with Chris being his major competition, so this week's exit was a surprise for me.
I figured either Katharine would exit based on her performances Tuesday, OR that she would get her fanbase plus the "chick vote" (meaning all the people who are hot for her or just prefer female singers in general) and Elliott would get the axe.
Although I really would have liked to see a showdown between Elliott, Taylor and Chris, I simply can't be upset that Katharine is still there; she's such a living doll.
While I still think and even hope Taylor wins, I decided once we hit the top 5 that Elliott was the one who needed the win the most. Paris already had her foot in the door with Grammy-winning relatives (remember, Randy about crapped his pants at her audition when he saw her grandmother); Katharine is a stunner and no doubt will be Broadway bound; Elliott lacked both Chris' looks and Taylor's stage presence.
So I'm sorta-kinda pulling for Elliott too. Yeah, a Taylor/Elliott final battle would be cool with me.

Well, based on the votes, they were the two top vote getters last week. What's funny is to look at them, neither of then aren't the stereotypical image of a pop star.
Maybe America is playing one big joke on Simon Cowell. He never imagined anyone would vote for Taylor in a top 12 situation.

Many AI fans disparage Vote For The Worst.com, but I think that behind the (often hilarious) sarcasm and mean-spiritedness, the site's contributers make many valid points.
Taylor was/is their pick after Kellie Pickler got the boot.
Why? For the simple reason that they feel he will be a marketing nightmare for Simon.
I can somewhat agree with this. I also felt this was somewhat true of Paris (a barley-teen who specializes in torch songs?) and Katharine (Broadway as pop?). I can even see it to a lesser degree being a problem with Elliott.
With people like Kellie, Ace, Bucky and Chris, there was NO DOUBT who the target audience is. What the heck is Taylor's target audience?
That said, *IF* he wins, I think he will be a mammoth success!

Right now I'm just feeling over AI. I'd very easily believe that the producers are the ones actually choosing the winners, and eliminating people in order of who can keep the tension and drama up for compelling tv. I don't know that that's happening, of course, but if it was, I wouldn't be surprised. I also find it very hard to believe that the voting goes the way it has been shown. I can just imagine in ten years there will be a documentary telling the "Truth about American Idol," exposing how the show was really run.
I suppose I'm just annoyed because my favorite is gone. Last year, I couldn't believe that Bo lost. His performances were SO much better than Carrie's all season. Now Chris, who has been awesome all year, is gone, leaving other constestants who I don't like as much.
Maybe I'll watch next week and grow to like the others more. I mean, I've always thought Katherine was lovely, but her vocals are very inconsistent. I think Taylor's kind of a clown, but maybe he'll do something extra cool. I've always admired Elliott's voice, but thought he was goofy. He *was* awesome on Elvis night....
sigh...I like it better when my favorite(s) win.

I feel ya.
My faves NEVER win, it seems.
Season 3:
Faves: Camille Velasco & Jennifer Hudson. Camille left in 9th place and Jennifer was ousted in 7th place.
Season 4:
Faves: Nadia Turner & Bo Bice. Nadia ousted in 8th place with Bo being runner-up.
So with my leaning toward Taylor and Elliott this year, I'm willing to bet katharine will win. My 2 overall favorites this year have definitely been Taylor and Bucky.
speaking of Bo: When he performed "The real Thing" on AI this season, I was all like, "Ehh, that's alright, no big deal". but when I recently heard it on the radio, I found myself really liking it.

Someone at the yahoogroup pointed out that the number 4 spot is often taken by a major fan favorite/leading contender.... Season 1- Tamyra Gray Season 3- Latoya London Season 5- Chris Daughtry
Formula?

Alright, so several hours have passed, and although I still can't believe Chris is gone, I decided to go back and listen to all of Elliott's mp3s.....y'know, when just listening to him and not having to look at him, the music and the vocals are really, really good. I mean, I already knew that, but upon further inspection, the body of work is great. He has done really good songs.
Maybe I'll start fully backing Elliott now...

I had heard rumours of this but didn't know they were true. Chris Daughtry offered job as lead singer for Fuel . I loved their Hemorrhage (In My Hands) track (one of Chris' early songs on AI) and Won't Back Down (from the Daredevil soundtrack) was a favorite too. I think Chris would be a great fit with the group.

Bah! I thought Elliott was cute even BEFORE they Hollywooded him up! re: Chris; Fuel first offered him the job after he sang "In My Hands" on AI several weeks back, and apparently are RiiiiiLLY serious about it now. I read that the band and the former lead singer had an amicable split a while back.
