Chris' number was originally released by CREED (for the second week, there is a mini-furor brewing for him, in that this song was allegedly originally released in 1999).
Taylor's number was by some New Orleansish name-sounding guy I don't think I've ever heard of (gone were his trademark antics this week, he stood behind the mic and just SANG).
"Suds in the Bucket" is originally by Sara Evans.
Can't remember Mandisa's original singer's name.

So, tonight's exit: No surprise.
Personal, to Bucky: Darlin', you deserve to be there as much as anyone else.

I guessed two of the three and guessed who it was to go. I thought for sure Bucky was bottom three.

I'm telling you guys, Bucky's going to hang in there. Next week is country week, I'm told, so Bucky will be right in his element.
Of those that are left, I think I'd like Paris to go.

I think the first row last night, the five who weren't in the bottom vote getters (Mandisa, Chris, Taylor, Paris and the Pickle) will be our top five. But, like Semi, I'd like to see Paris go. She isn't a favorite.

That would actually be an awesome top 5, if we replaced Paris with Katherine - maybe the best top 5 ever. I actually starting to think that the battle for the top won't be between Mandissa and Chris, but maybe between Chris and Taylor.

Ok, actually proper quick ones this time but I may come back with more later.
Overall a *really* poor night. The ones that should be front runners didn't seem like they could be bothered and the others just weren't very special.
Mandisa and Chris were being self-indlugent with their songs and neither of them gave very good performances. Mandisa was way off key for most of the song (the band weren't great for some reason either) and Chris was just shouting for the most part. Also, Simon was right in that Chris needs to show he can do something different. He's becoming a one trick pony and you can't (or at least shouldn't) win AI if you can't be at least a bit versatile.
Katharine was... well, she was shockingly bad. She's quickly becoming my favourite but she was awful this week. Way off key and just didn't seem comfortable. I was *very* dissapointed with her.
Lisa was OK. Nothing special but she wasn't bad and i think they overly criticised her. Not sure if she actually deserved to go or not but she wouldn't have lasted much longer so I'm not too upset.
Paris I really didn't like. No idea why the judges liked her so much, I thought she was... I dunno. Just didn't like it.
Elliot has started to wear ut his welcome. Again he didn't do anything for me and the song sucked.
Pickler and Bucky (jg bvukaeg ghekffueg bk aug bkuegf Bucky!) were actually far better than they ahve been any other week but quite frankly both of them were still not great and both of them were just... dull. Very, very dull. In tune (which is a first for both of them imho) but not interesting. I hope they both go home soon, although Kellie is almost certainly going to be around for a while at least more's the pity.
In fact the only person who stood out, the only one who actually looked like they could win was Taylor. I am so surprised I'm saying this since i thought he'd get irritating wuickly and that he'd be the one trick pony but for the second time he's come out as the frontrunner by a mile. He just stood there and showed how good a singer he was. Wasn't sure about the styling (again I agreed with Simon on that point) and maybe the song wasn't a 'wow' song, but the performance was. That song wouldn't win him the final vote for example but in a night of lacklustre performances and tedious song choices Taylor was the only one who actually made me stop what I was doing and listen to him.
Now I just hope next week they actually pick some decent songs and show what they can do otherwise people like Mandisa, Chris and Katahrine could get shown up by not-very-good-but-comfortable-with-Country singers (ie: Pickler and Bucky hughshhf bus gejgft gsgu Bucky!), which (of course) would be a huge shame.

Mandisa, Chris and Katahrine have already been shown up a time or two by Kellie and Bucky; it isn't a shame at all for me.
But I honestly believe Taylor is going to take this lock, stock and barrell.
And I hope he does.

I didn't see the elimination show. I wasn't surprised when I saw who it was.
All along this season, I've been thinking it's between Chris and Mandisa, but really, we have such a distinct group, it's very hard to predict who'll win.

Tonight was pretty fun!
TAYLOR opened with "Country Roads", and kept it pretty straightforward. Not my favorite of the night but he can still do little to nothing wrong in my eyes. I'm actually concerned that he might be letting some of his zanier appeal fall by the wayside.
MANDISA should have put some of her past zest into "Any Man of Mine". That song is meant to be sassy and I felt like she was holding back a bit.
Really, really liked ELLIOTT's performance. He gets my 'second favorite' spot of the night!
KELLIE's "Fancy" was enjoyable; she's won me over I guess; I actually can't believe it but it's true.
I missed ACE's performance due to circumstances, so I can't judge it, but the brief end-clip seemed good.
I thought PARIS did fine on "How Do I Live".
I thought CHRIS redeemed himself after last week's horror show.
KATHARINE is just *SO* adorable, in every way!
And the top spot tonight goes to-- BUCKY. I have always loved Vertical Horizon's "Best I Ever Had" (who can resist the line "no one here to say, 'Love can be so boring'")and wasn't even aware there was a country version of it. I *loved* it!!
We're getting down to the nitty gritty here; no one really deserves to be in the bottom this week.
And KENNY ROGERS! As many of you know, I'm a SUCKER for KENNY ROGERS!
So yeah, I had fun tonight.
It's likely I'll miss tomorrow night's show, so you guys please post thorough spoilers!

I thought the song choices were really vague, especially considering that there are so many country songs that are sure-fire crowd pleasers. I kinda felt like Simon... unable to "get into it."
My least favorite to most favorite...
Paris. Vocally, she just didn't start off very well, and by the time she got to go big, it was too late. She didn't seem into it. BTW, I do like that song a LOT.
Taylor. Really bland interpretation of this song. No, his normal koo-koo energy was not there. Maybe he should have done "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" instead. John Denver records were played in my house a LOT when I was a kid, so I have a lot of affection for those songs and I was hopeful regarding Taylor's choice. I was let down.
Ace. Really boring. I didn't think his questionable falsetto gave it any flavor at all.
Bucky. Again, really boring. I was surprised by his choice. There are SO many great country songs that he MUST know, and he did this dull thing.
Mandisa. She was really trying, but this song just came across as kinda sloppy. Maybe she should have gone for the country power ballad.
Kellie. She seemed to really know this song, and really seemed confident, but she had a distant look in her eye the whole time. Still, she sounded good.
Chris. He's been my favorite all along, but he's only third for me tonight. It was a good idea for him to choose a ballad that didn't require any screeching, but I think he could have done something with a little more emotion or feeling. Still, he did well.
Elliott. He has such a great voice. He really sang the song well. I do get distracted by the wild look in his eyes sometimes, but still, he's looking better than ever and that voice can't be denied.
Katherine. I've always liked her, so I'm pleased to put her in my #1 spot. She was the most entertaining and had a clean, strong vocal. She's also very easy on the eyes!
I'm very picky when it comes to liking country songs. CMT has been showing their top 100 country songs and their top 100 country love songs, and I quite enjoy many of them. I guess I prefer classic country. I guess that makes me a fussier arm chair judge on shows like tonight's.

I thought of Bevis when Kenny Rogers warned that Bucky should really concentrate on his enunciation for that song. Then, when he performed, I swear I didn't understand his first few lines at ALL!

He he he, see the unintelligable (sp?) Bucky syndrome is affecting others now. Maybe he's doing it on purpose...
We're actually off to see Bonnie Rait on Friday night so I may miss this week's performances if I don't remember to watch it on Sunday (they keep moving round the repeat here) which is a shame because I'm looking forward to seeing Country night, especially if Kenny is there. Good to hear Katharine is back on form after last week's mess of a performance, but I do worry that Mandissa is slipping. She is such a good singer (technically a good singer if you see what i mean) that she should be wy ahead of the pack every week but she hasn't actually done anything to wow me since the first week really, which isn't good.

I retuned to civilzation in time to flip on the TV and see tonight's SHOCKING expulsion standing there alongside Ryan, saying her goodbyes.
This blows a lot of top-3 finalist theories... including mine. The most shocking elimination so far.

How long before we hear claims of a phone outage in the contestant's hometown/state or a constant busy signal. Seems to happen whenever we have an exit like this.

Last night I loved Chris - his voice has so much character. I really liked Bucky. I didn't much like anyone else, but I thought Taylor was particularly bad.

I don't know how to make that fun spoiler box so I just have to say that I was totally surprised by the elimination. The fan bases of each contestant just never make sense to me.
There are always conspiracy theories about eliminations, many of them blaming race, many blaming Vote For the Worst. Sometimes, it might just boil down to popularity.

I shouldn't really have read the spoilers since I haven't actually seen any of the performances yet, but I did and... well, knock me down with a feather. You can never take account of the way people are going to vote but even still I'm very surprised by this one.
